  • In this video I'm going to share four hairstyles with you that I like to wear during dance rehearsals. It's extra important for dancers to know the hair is securely tied away and won't get in the way of your routine: these are some styles I've found work great for me. They are practical and pretty: the perfect combo :)

    My name is Lucy, I'm a 24-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
    On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
    I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.
    If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.
    Enjoy browsing!

    Nice! I practice martial arts myself, and the flopping ponytail struggle is too real :') I usually wear my hair in a braid or I make a middle ponytail that I only pull partially through the elastic on the last go, that also helps a lot with reducing floppy hair!

    I remember I did the sock bun hairstyle at the gym once, and naturally it fell at some point (my hair is thick, curly and heavy), so I placed my donut next to me while I was working out.. So the trainer asked me ''Is that a dish sponge? Are you such an avid househeeper?''.. It was kinda embarrassing but also hilarious :D

      I danced (ballet)from age four to seventeen then stopped to focus on martial arts. The dance itch came back when I was twenty-six and I took up modern jazz without any problems. A lot of dance schools focus on kids and teenagers but more and more also offer classes for adults. I'd say go for it and have fun. Half the time dancing is about not minding about how weird you might potentially look anyway.

    My favourite style for any kind of physical activity are the interlaced braids you've posted ages ago. I think I found your channel through them, since I saw torrinpaige's version of it and she linked back to you. The double dutch style you showed here goes in a similar direction, have you tried the interlaced braids for dancing? Only thing I do differently, I don't pin the ends of the braids to the sides, I join them in the middle with a hairtie and tuck the end behind the interlaced part. Super secure and zero chance of pins falling out or poking the head, I even sleep in the style and wear it for multiple days.

    do you use mostly bobby pins? I have about 40 inch hair, and I have alternated between bobby pins, hair pins, spin pins etc. Also, I have found that modern bobby pins seem really flimsy... at least most of the ones I can find! lol do you just use drugstore quality ones, or do you or have a source for really sturdy ones?

    • @Loepsie
      @Loepsie  Před 6 lety

  • @charaayars4692
    @charaayars4692 Před 6 lety

    could you give some tips on how to remove more complicated hairstyles? The sock bun does look really secure, but is it hard to remove? I know sometimes I do side twists that I twist all the way to the ends, then I wrap it around my head and pin them on the opposite side, and the back looks a little like a gibson roll. It's really pretty, but when I take it out, it has that twisty thing going on, that makes it really hard to brush out, without creating really bad snarls. With some of the more complicated hairstyles you have done, what have you learned for taking them down??

    • @Loepsie
      @Loepsie  Před 6 lety

      I have the opposite problem, actually. Pretty much anything will come out of my hair on its own, including the crazy teased 18th century styles. I have trouble making anything last and I actually rarely comb my hair, it just never gets tangled. The only tip I can think of is to exactly reverse the steps you took to build the hairstyle, so take everything out in the order you put it in.
