Put your jack under the rear end and then put the truck on jack stands so the rear end is then floating place your jack back under the hog head and then you can increase and decrease pressure to make the job much easier
instead of hoping a 2x4 holds your truck from rolling ,put your wheels you just removed under the chassis. sure it might take some space but the gap should be plenty to keep you alive
Nice vid, thanks. I'm gonna tackle this in the morning. Just got a lift block out of the front as I don't need a lift and it was a total pain in the butt.. glad it's gonna be lower though!
I think your drop shackles are on backwards. I know the factory shackles opening faces the rear but I believe the aftermarket shackles opening faces the front. I guess you could call the shackle manufacturer to verify or hold up factory shackles to aftermarket and check the angles. Either way thanks for the vid bro.
@@thegenius653 Yeah I seen the same thing on a other video where they the after market ones on opposite then factory. Not sure what difference it makes???/ Thinking about doing mine and want to have it correct.
Anyone watching who has a newer truck. Lowering shackles stance the vehicle for hot rod custom modification. If your intent is utilitarian, or you want to haul a load, your better option is to raise the front end, not drop the back. If you lower that rear, you also can add a "helper spring" to decrease the flexibility of the leaf springs. If you are doing that on an older vehicle, replacing the entire spring assembly...or doing what i'm doing and bagging the rear end and running coil overs on the front...is a better way to go. Lowering is for looks and center of gravity (or aero). Period. If you need your truck for work, avoid this mod.
I think is good dumuzi took te time to let people know the coz of lowering the truck but same as you my truck is for fun not work. for work I have a f250 lol 😆
Dude! If you buy the truck to use it for work horse don’t mess with that, but this guy and same as me like trucks and it’s just for cosmetic reasons, we don’t use it as work horses
Cool video sir. I just ordered a set of these for my 13 xlt super cab. Did you end up with and vibrations from the slight change in pinion angle? Or did you use any wedge shims between the leaf springs and axles to correct it? Thanks man 👍🏻
@el perez perez I think you might have figured this out by now but if not and you have a drop shackle with two holes and it gives a 2 or 3 inch drop the bottom holes are always the lower number and the top hole is the higher number. So the top hole will give you three inches and the bottom one will give you two.
Hey bro appreciate the video, one quick question. I put these on and it lowered it and looks good but I would of loved for it to level and it didn't. Is there anything else I can do so it can be dead on level? Thanks man.
Thread lock was a good idea. Technically you're not supposed to reuse locknuts (not as locknuts). Everybody does of course so the thread lock is good insurance. Now you know.

As much as we pay for these trucks we deserve stainless steel boats in these places
Those are lock nuts bud. But I guess it won’t hurt to be safe. Nice video.
dude you gotta show the final look
mikeyb byekim i know sorry my camera sucked and ran out of memory

You have to make a quick video of the before and after. But good video tho 👏🏽
Que suenen los corridos compa 👍
Should have showed a before and after
I hope these rear bolts aren't coming out, you should only make one stripe down the vote with Loctite blue
the back is higher because when you haul a load then it sits even
i know but i lowered it cuz i never put heavy loads on my truck and couple weeks ago i loaded up with quads and equipment and didnt drop alot.
Dude! If you buy the truck to use it for work horse don’t mess with that, but this guy and same as me like trucks and it’s just for cosmetic reasons, we don’t use it as work horses
Legend has it that them shackle 🔩 are still locked on the truck after all these yrs nd miles with no sign of ever coming off for anyone
pero subale a los corridos
If you remove one Bolt from each side with the Jacks entered it is not as much of a problem
did mine to be level
thanks for the video it helped

The Genius ok gracias por responder bro 👍🏼
Those daggone rear shackle bolts will freeze up in the sleeve and that sucks
or just cut the bolt on the socket side and u can pull the bolt out away from the truck!
nice
ya great job...
You use the Very Top hole for 2 inch drop Correct????????? Thanks for the Video
Jack Graves yes correct it only has 2 holes use the top one
Jack im going to put som on my f150 so it has 2 holes and its for 2" and 3" if i whant to lower it 3"i put them in the holes in the butom

01svt4v21 so it didnt level, the back still higher then the front?
The Genius yeah about an inch and a half, Is yours completely leveled?
No mine is not but it does look alot better though
Does the kit give torque specs for the 2 bolts in the lowering shackles?
splash if i remember correctly it doesnt
Tight
First hole from bottom to top or top to bottom?
Why do you need to take wheels off?
I just got done installing the shackles and I used the top hole and it only dropped it 1 & 1/2 inches...
yea mine only dropped like 1 inch 3/4 but still looks alot better then the stock ones
+The Genius yes it does look different better actually lol...so it's not really 2 inches right? like 2 full inches?
+Irving Yanez yea its about 1 and 3/4
thread not tread. you don’t wanna glue your tread on
Why didn’t you show what it look like after you finished putting the wheels back on also speak up when you talking
Take the spare out of the way too, also use punch instead of ruining scredriver
Estamos en gringoland, we speak Spanglish carnal
is it possible to get an inch lower if you tighten bolts while the truck squated?
joshua dodson yes but i think once you drop it they go to where they suppose to be, the only way to find out is give it a try good luck bro
No
Bueno sespetable es solo I opinion
Hi, what do you recommend for the noise it makes. I cannot find any bushings for my 2018 f150
956EE where is the noice coming from? Mine doesnt do any noice at all
I'm hearing it in the rear leaf springs with a 3in f and 5.5 and drop in the rear.
956EE try adding a little bit of grease
Did u tightin the bolts tight when it wuz lifted jus snug them then once u drop it retighten
LONETEXAN19 it may be your tailgate

The Genius dang hahah but good deal it turned out good for you! Am planning on doing this and was also wondering how the ride was after words man
You don’t need thread lock with locknuts

this truck is not that old, Ford uses cheep metal from China!
