    Truly staggering how cheaply you were able to do this. The kindness of strangers is a very real phenomenon. I cycled from SF to Flagstaff and several folks gave us money and other things along the way. Still - we ended up staying in more hotels than it sounds like you did. Such an amazing accomplishment!!

      No not really. He's an example for being a good person. Not an example of how good his parents raised him.
      I seriously don't understand how people can say things like this when everyday there are people who had the most loving, caring, and disciplined parents who still couldn't get their child or children to stop acting out. There are also many abusive, callous, and evil parents who despite their efforts to break their children they couldn't.
      People have their own minds at the end of the day, don't take away someone's accomplishments via their parents.

    The value you have given so many of us cannot be measured. The places we will never personally see, the great times and difficult situations, your mental toughness and physical endurance and the generosity of people all over the world, not in pounds or currency, but in in good will and adventure, scenery, personalities and homes of every kind and size are pictures in our minds. I think about the tiny little nook of bedroom in the farmhouse in China. The rivers, lakes, mountains, snows that we have seen will last our lifetime too. There really are no words for the few hours we received and just to know you had three years one hundred thirty five days, thank you. Happy Trails from an old North Carolina, USA fellow. I was thinking today about how long since we have heard from you. You must have known.

    I've been wanting to get into bicycle touring around the US, and I've proven to myself that I can ride up to 80 miles a day back-to-back. Now I just need to figure out a budget and this video helps out a lot.

    Im finally able to actually ride my unicycle- and boy oh boy I've never had more respect for you. You've done 80 miles a day some days, and dude I could barley hit a mile. And that was getting on and off constantly.

      Look at the wages in Australia . Even without a degree many young people earn 80k -100k aud plus benifits. Also the country areas the food and supplies could easily cost 30% or more than in a city.

    When i was 8 i found kris holm and perfected my 180s and riding backwards after 2 years . Grew out of my 16 inch and went to bmx . You make me want another . Thank u doode

    I really wanted to travel to Vietnam from the Netherlands by motorcycle but I was scared of getting stuck because of money shortages, but this was really eye opening how it can actually be quite reasonable. Great video thank you.

      Harmen motorcycle touring is a different beast entirely. Both you and your motorcycle need visas and costly import licences and fuel through Europe is brutal. Most conservative estimates for rtw on a motorbike are £20,000. Something i am keen on doing too someday! Check out pedro mota, he is also from the netherlands and very cool!

    You would have had to spend money on food, travel and accommodation even if you hadn't been unicycling around the world, so I think the total cost of £23,000 means the your adventure really cost you almost nothing. I hope you rightly regard that as an amazing achievement to do it all for so little and yet raise so much money for charity.

      @@TheRybka30 - Reminds me of people paying to fly to third-world countries to do manual labor at some type of charity, like an orphanage. It is definitely an experience but the huge amount of money spent traveling might have been better spent, that is if the end-goal was to help people in need. However, if the end-goal was the experience then so be it. Just don't claim that it was all about charity.

If its not his money theres no question he can stop doing it at any time but the donations and videos would have stopped and that didnt go with his plan

    Not sure if other people would care but I'm curious:
    Did you pay attention to your nutrition or how many calories you needed to eat or was it a matter of just packing it in?
    Do you have any pains or injuries after being back and resting up for a while?
    Basically, how did this much physical activity affect your body?

      I learned to ride my unicycle in a tennis court. Just used the fence around it for balance until I could ride unassisted. It took me about a week or so to get the hang of it.
