Composed during the pandemic-induced lockdown period of 2020/2021, "Isolation" features some of ColdWorld's most expressive compositions to date. Managing to transcend the conventional sounds pursued in what is best described as the "ambient/depressive" black metal subgenre, ColdWorld's newest sonic endeavor draws listeners into an incredibly immersive soundscape, rife with lush classical instrumentation and ethereal, yet occasionally harrowing vocals.

I can't tell you how happy I was go find this. I cherished Melancholie2 so dearly, it got me through some very dark periods of my life. I decided to search it up and found this. I personally really enjoy the ambient touches. Listened to the whole thing while I've been working, it's downright haunting. Transports me to another place. Thank you for all the great music. We had listeners/fans commenting they are missing the fierce and cold sound, while on the other hand there are others who seek and find the "new" cold, it is called "isolation" after all.

Excellent album, all the elements fit perfectly in a journey of isolation but instead of despair could be about instropection, hope and a point or restart, with pain as experience, not as a concrete bag determinating your demise.
People and the whole world is what it is and we must live with that, looking ourselves at first and trying to grow as individuals and be better; tnere's no comfort in ruin.

Here in the Netherlands,unfortunally, is introspection an unkown phrase,wich i cant say bout ego,and me-me-me-first.And that leads to isolation,Only the masses arent so smart to figure out cause,But he Im just (considdert) the lonmghaired weirdo with his terrible music.
@@johanzuidema353 Many of us, those who find music, very beautiful, introspective, an experience, I have found that they,(we) tend to feel deeply. and maybe because of that things, people, events around us can have an impact that causes isolation. I like very much what you said. To use the experience to better ourselves and to join the world and have something to offer. Also the not using or letting our pain be the expected self destructive finale, but to use it also as a means to influence ourselves to, I think, become stronger, to become a light because of, and by making the decision to enrich ourselves and the planet by turning it to something better and positive And because we cant ever totally lose it, put whats left in a deeper place and when we do feel it, it never was the end, but the means to begin! This new album did not transmit me the same feeling as the previous ones, although the coldness is maintained but not enough to make it so intense. It is worth mentioning that the guitar distortion is very relevant.
Agree. The sound have undergone a change. For me it’s no longer the unique sound that makes Coldworld, cold. But I guess that is normal progression for all bands out there. The creator change and with him, the original sound that I am hopelessly in love with. Need to put this album on repeat to incorporate the change to be a new normal.
Well, indeed the sound may have "matured" over time, and we all know a lot of time has passed since the previous album! With all this time the person behind the band's name also moved on, matured, and experienced a lot of things. Now, I would say the sense of coldness will always be in "Coldworld" but it may shift to different expressions. Isolation is an album about being isolated, and that very feeling from inside to outside. If you listen carefully and let yourself go, it`s quite a journey.

While the previous 2 releases had a good balance of black metal and ambience, this release is too ambient. Most of the songs on this release aren't worthy of being classified as black metal, the only thing that warrants such classification is vocals work in 2 songs. If you're going to reformulate the sound so drastically you might as well re-classify the project moving forward. This way you might even widen your target audience instead of staying confined in the "black metal" category.
Thanks for checking and commenting. We totally understand there are people who like it, and take it easy and other listeners/fans who argue with the sound or current band's evolution, and progression. Yet we did not classify this ourselves as pure "black metal", but rather as a hybrid between Ambient, Black Metal, Post Rock, and Doom, this is also just directions and not a set in stone opinion. We felt the record has the soul of Coldworld and reflects the Topic and emotions during the Isolation times very well. As we already witnessed, the band may also stay unpredicted, if we look at works that are even more Ambient, and other outings with even more harsh black metal (like the Nostalgia EP).
