It would be cool if you made a video of you playing, that cut back and forth between the sound of the drums and the sound that the drumset makes without hearing the drums. Like, just your sticks on the soft mesh pads. Just as a comparison. To see how quiet it is.

That is not the point of this video at all. I compared the sound of the set and the acoustic sound in countless videos.

The snare and cymbal sounds are horrible. Probably you should play a few more years to get the right feeling for real drum sounds. "Custom" sounds means, that you have recorded all sounds by yourself. It seems, that you only collect them from different sample libraries.

Bjoern G. I am not sure if you understand how the concept works. The TD-30 is not working with samples. I only edited the onboard sounds of the module. That is what you get here. A custom edit, not samples. They do not sound as good as real samples, but better than the standard TD-30 sounds.

Yamaha DTX series. Stick with a brand that actually understands drum sounds. These modules sound dreadful.

But they trigger great and that is the problem with Yamaha, they just aren't as good. The sounds of the TD-30 are not the best, but good enough for practice. Anyway, if you want to use an e-set (no matter what brand) for recording, you would not use the internal sounds anyway.

Yamaha's samples sounds pretty shitty to me. Not sure how you think they sound better than Rolands sound.

Great kit, great DIY info, the conversion is awesome.
The actual drumming in this video is horrible, first year beginner, cringe worthy.
Don't get me wrong, everybody has to start somewhere, but it's like watching a kid butcher Stairway on a $5k Les Paul guitar, and that's what this looks like.
