- The Purpose of Braille Skateboarding is to grow the number of people who skateboard by teaching, motivating, and inspiring. We do this by making skateboard tutorial videos covering every how to skateboard video under the sun moon and stars. By learning ourselves and showing that no matter how old or young, you can learn to skate. Part of this is also providing a suggested path to take in learning to skate. Then we inspire NEW people to learn to skate by making videos outside the very small world of skateboarding. We turn an ipad into a skateboard, skate on a big screen TV, and even a door. We focus not only on the creativity here but building the board and then all the way through to seeing what tricks can be done on it. Skaters have always been a creative bunch of people they take the normal ideas of society and change it to create their own world. Most people see a set of stairs we see a kick flip going down them. Our goal here is to take people that may never have thought of skateboarding before and get them on a board.

Except that you can. Longboards come in tons of shapes. And there's longboards designed with single and double kicktails and it is not only possible to do a kickflip on a longboard, it's actually pretty easy depending on which one you have. I think it's just that less people know you can use a longboard for tricks. I'm not trying to argue or anything, but maybe take a look on CZcams. Search longboard tiger claw variations, longboard tricks, dancing and downhill. There's a lot you can do with both. And "long boards" shaped like surfboards have been around just as long as trick boards. (Even longer depending on who you ask). Just give it a try. At the very least there's nothing like bombing a massive hill with a longboard. It's a totally different feel and idea. I do ride both. I hit up the skateparks with my enjoi all the time but I wish people didn't fight so much about it because the truth is, if more people tried longboarding in the countless styles, I think they'd find that they enjoy doing both. Why aren't we allowed to do both?

Agreed. Correction for the video: Shortboards aren't better for tricks. They're better for shortboard tricks. Longboards are better for longboarding tricks. Which you prefer really depends on you. Myself I just own both and have a good time whichever I bring :)

Honestly, I dont think aaron is the right person to judge this. Obviously he doesnt know what longboarding really means. I mean, he didnt even mention sliding, downhill, dancing or other disciplines of longboarding. I love speed and snowboarding but i dont have snowy hills where I live. So I longboard and I can say, because I can also do like varial kickflips, heelflips and other stuff on a skateboard, that longboarding takes as much skill as skateboarding. It is just a different way of riding a piece of wood with two trucks and four wheels.

Longboards are not the wrong board. Every person has their prefrence. Skateboards "short" are meant for throwing around, spinning, and jumping high. Longboards are ,in my prefrence, are for power sliding down hills and doing footplants or no-comlpys

First im from Germany and my English is not the best (im in class 6).But i mean Skatebords be cooler but the streets dont be good for Skateboarding because the most ways be of small paving stone.I self use a Longbord to came from a to b and Skatebords to make tricks and for great spots.I hope anywhere read this and understand what i mean.

I have to say that anyone who opts for one over the other because one is 'cooler' than the other is a total chopper and has completely missed the point of riding a board with wheels on it.
I'm a 40 bloke and I have recently jumped back on a deck after 25 years off and I had forgotten the simple pleasure of just riding around the streets and along the beach on a board.
Being 6'4" I always struggled a bit with a regular board and I've recently got my hands on a longboard. Not massive at 39" long but it does feel a bit more comfortable and I've got some lovely soft, freeride wheels so looking forward to just cruising around :)

You should look for some longboard freeride videos, people can do some pretty sick tricks, and there are longboards made for tricks, better than the kind youre using in this videos.

LandFish4 it has been done, i have a 35 inch longboard with 2 full kicks and 20 inch wheel base and its 9 inches wide, i can tre flip. longboaring is much harder, sure doing 20 stair gaps are hard but try going down a hill at 110kmh and doing a slide 200 ft before a corner to slow down to 80kmh and grip the corner, not easy at all to take corers at 70kmh while cars have t slow down to 50 to take the same corner. I can NOT do any of that but there are videos of lots of people doing that.
Been a longboarder for many moons. (the fun is in the slides! ) However, this, and other Braille videos have inspired me to get a skateboard, and may I just say....man, holy balls! it's really hard! 3 weeks in and I'm still learning how to ollie! Hats off to you guys who can really skate. I'm going to keep plugging away until I can at least get up a kerb at speed! Cheers!

Mads Riis In the last video where he did that weird nollie thing trick he said he was doing videos of tricks that anybody could do, so I think now he is doing videos directed to the beginner skaters, and I think this channel was always about that because the videos where he teaches super difficult tricks are rare, except the ones where he learn them.

I just got my first longboard today. I haven’t been able to go outside and mess around with it because of the snow and ice but I’m really excited to get started!
I live in NYC what longboard is good for riding the rough street I have a regular skateboard but its a pain with all bumps and its super uncomfortable I need all longboard to get me from point A to point B any suggestions?

I think you are right Aaron but you are missing a big part of long boarding: downhill I ride skateboards and longboard I only do downhill longboard ing and you get the same feel landing a different style power slide down a hill as landing a tee. Please don't hate this is only my opinion

you're funny! thanks for the vid. i used to skate in the early 90's- pretty sure longboards were around then but i never saw them they weren't too popular with my 'crew'. all i ever felt comfortable with was cruising and taking stairs anyway, so i just ordered my first longboard ever today and i'm very excited to get back into it!!! interested to see how it feels different to the short boards i was used to back in the day. (and yes it's perfectly fine for a 37 year old woman to want a new longboard!)
also i'm a snowboarder so i think the longboard will suit me. can't wait until until it arrives... ahhhH!

I just brought my first longboard, I can’t wait to try it out sadly it’s winter (snow/ice) here so I have to wait 2 months.
Longboards can allow you to travel much farther in less time, a half hour ride on a skateboard for me takes about ten minutes on a longboard to the same place. Skateboarding is much more fun especially once you learn to ollie, longboards are still lots of fun though and they're great for beginners. More surface area and wider trucks really helps you keep your balance!
or you could get a size 8.25 - 8.5 skateboard with hi-trucks and big soft wheels, and do the same speed, while doing tricks.

I'm a guy that put longboard wheels on my skateboard, lul. Cruise down streets and still do tricks. Can also ride down hills fast (nickel board trucks tightened still easy maneuver and no speed wobbles; I use slant trucks) but I can also just pop ollies. I use bones reds that's been taken apart and relubed (makes them better than factory release if you do it right) with some typical orange duster wheels and a superior board (I need to change my deck like holy crap).

Yeah so I could Ollie while cruising around but the Ollie's are super easy to slip out of because of how high the ends at off the ground.

I like the quiet wheels on a cruiser/longboard. I have both and for the basic stuff like staying on the board is much easier on the slower trickboard than the cruiser that will just slip from under your feet.
All real longboarders shit on pintails. I have a 38 in longboard w a double kick and I can tre that no problem. Im surprised aaron didnt know there were more than just pintails :(

Yeah that would be much better. I just say to people now that I downhill skateboard because they all think that Longboarding is cruising around on a long flexy board.
So what you are saying is that you are completely ignorant to other disiplines of longboarding than going head first down a hill. cruising is just as much, if not more (when you think of the origins) propper longboarding as downhill

I've heard this argument from other longboarders (which I assume you are), but I never understood what they mean. Most skaters who ride normal skateboards don't give a shit about making money, and longboard companies like Sector 9 make millions of dollars, so why do longboarders feel that they are more passionate than normal skaters?
To me it doesn't matter what board you ride, all that's important is that you like skateboarding.

I usually gravitate more to long boards cause I just love the ride 👌🏻 I think if I got more comfortable with riding then I'd want to start learning tricks on the short board!

I see too many ignorant people, and too little respect. People who downhill/freeride are just as passionate about their skating as people who street skate. Aaron seems to be clueless, lumping all longboarders together as just people who cruise.
And even if someone just cruised, be it on a skateboard or a longboard, why does there need to be so much hate? You've all been there once; you don't start out knowing how to do a treflip or do a toeside check. Why do you care about what other people do? Just skate what YOU want and think is fun, and simply respect other skaters.

i started on a longboard a year ago, no tricks, just cruising, although i am beginning to learn the other stance and move around on the board so perhaps i should get a skateboard now too!

I started on a cruiser and that was so much easier to learn the basics of pushing and balance and handling speed. I don't have a proper longboard yet cause they're expensive, but I'm now going through your bootcamp and getting better at skateboarding with my skateboard and I have a mini cruiser that I keep in my car and use to get around towns and such. I do wanna get a real longboard some time, tough, I just don't have a place to keep it rn and can't justify the expense to myself yet. I also am not sure which style I want to get yet.

Bear in mind these are two COMPLETELY different riding styles that only have a little in common.
On a longboard, your weight usually stays between the trucks and doesn't really do much, but your upper body turns more for carving. You also usually put more weight forward for more stability, but this doesn't apply much to skateboards.
On a skateboard, your weight always stays between your legs with one foot behind the front truck bolts and one on the tail. To cruise with the harder, smaller wheels of a skateboard, you're going to be needing to do a lot more with your weight and balance and a lot of leg work to avoid cracks that would throw you off.
I want to travel across states on a board, short board would be more fun when I learn tricks but would a longboard compensate the fun by being significantly faster and less tiring? Ps Im not a skateboarder I don't know any tricks but I know how to ride both. Any advice?

lol. Got a pintail just for fun but ended up wanting to do downhill. It is still very good since it is basically a hybrid between a twin tip and a pintail.

I'm a longboarder, but I recently got three skateboards at goodwill since I don't really have the money to get a nice one. I had to save up money to get my longboard, and I don't really wanna go through that trouble again. I love watching these videos because I'm too nervous to go to my skatepark when I'm not really good at riding a skateboard. I've only learned how to somewhat do an ollie so far.
so i dont know how to ride a skate board or long board but i can only buy one should i get a long board or skate board for someone who has never ridden one i think a long board would be better for crusing what do you think i should do
This is all wrong they are both different styles you can do park and pool on a skate board and you can slide and go over 60 mph on a longboard both different styles... Not an upgrade or a downgrade just what you prefer to do

I was a long boarder and know how to do every slide in da book and started to get boring especially running up hills... I'm new to skateboarding and doing Ollie's like a king... Love both but more stuck on the shorthand cuz u can do so much more!!! I love both but love the short board more for now
