I'm not skateboarder, but I'm pretty sure they have to do it without safety "bulk" to better judge speed balance, and not get things caught on something or get in the way.
When the motorbike guy, who is probably cranking out dank nooners at every stop light, is telling you you're being unsafe that's when you need to call time out and take a look around. That being said I bombed alot of hills on a cruiser board as a kid and stoned college student. If you get used to no pads it's almost impossible to transition back. The restriction in your movement makes you unsure of yourself and that can make you freak out and bail, getting very hurt in the process, instead of just swallowing that fear and riding the lightning which is usually the best option.

Mad respect. As a cyclist and motor cyclist I admire his desire for speed and the thrill, but the lack of braking capacity and protective equipment makes me anxious for him
I'm not skateboarder, but I'm pretty sure they have to do it without safety "bulk" to better judge speed balance, and not get things caught on something or get in the way.
Braking involves coming out of your tuck, dragging your hand and power sliding to lose momentum or bailing out. Take your pick! 😂

When the motorbike guy, who is probably cranking out dank nooners at every stop light, is telling you you're being unsafe that's when you need to call time out and take a look around.
That being said I bombed alot of hills on a cruiser board as a kid and stoned college student. If you get used to no pads it's almost impossible to transition back. The restriction in your movement makes you unsure of yourself and that can make you freak out and bail, getting very hurt in the process, instead of just swallowing that fear and riding the lightning which is usually the best option.
