some people are scared of being broke (again) or like I've heard growing up, rich stay rich because they rarely buy anything. Which looks to be true. Even if they buy something its usually heavily discounted or gifted.

Yeah the 7 usd increase just doesn't sound right to me. I know water prices are different in the US (and depending on where they live), but here a 15 minute hot shower would be the equivalent to 2 usd.

Fun fact, her compost pile is so small her pissing in that everyday could put to much nitrogen in the compost, which gives it a chance to spontaneously combust… especially if there is another person joining in.

It's really good fertiliser though I get my husband to hang it out over my roses and they've never been healthier. Putting it in jars is disgusting though.

This hits home too me, my flat mates mum is a millionaire and she is batshit crazy. She lives in a 5 bed house with no electricity or heating, she sits in the dark with candles and blankets around her. She goes on about 20 singles holidays a year. She only eats the same meals every day.
For my housemates birthday her mum took her out to dinner, only to bait and switch her with a "I don't think I'm hungry enough for dinner, shall we get a coffee" omg on her birthday!
Nothing surprises me with this behaviour. She didn't even earn the money, she married the CEO of now defunct British retailer C&A and got half of the lot in the divorce 😂

What's really ironic is that she talks about saving money by having appliances from the 60''s, but modern appliances are MUCH more energy efficient than older equipment (in both water usage and electricity), so shes probably wasting more energy&water in the long run and costing her more in bills.
keeping all her stuff unplugged seriously reduces her risk of fire, good for her.. then again, all those antique electronics raise her risk of fire. It probably evens out LUL

MY thing is... _two_ people living in a house should theoretically use twice as much water. So if the home increases from one to two people, you'd expect a 100% increase. The water bill going up by only 30% means he is bringing 70% less than a statistically average person. And that's 30% of her _already extremely low water bill_ so he's doing even better. She should be happy. Unless she just isn't talking about an average and she genuinely thinks it's going to increase it by 30% every day, which is absurd. Did she really expect her bill not to increase _at all?_

Unplugging stuff does help! Knocked my electricity down quite a bit by unplugging stuff, especially extension cords!
Now do what we do…it knocked 70% off our electricity by turning off the water heater except for ONE HOUR a day!! It was AMAZING!!!

I got a gym membership for $10 a month just for the showers. I was staying with my uncle for a bit and he didn't want hot water.
Just for the record keeping stuff unplugged will lower your power bill. My bill recently went up drastically so I started unplugging everything at night and during the day when I wasn't using it. It went back down to the normal $40 bucks a month from nearly $100 the month prior.
We only turn our water heater on for an hour a day…water stays hot till next time. It dropped our electric bill by about 70% …. Juss sayin 😊

If she's that serious about saving money, then she can just use the restroom at the gym depending how far away it is from her home. Also, she might be on that Planet Fitness $10 a month membership with a $20 or $30 annual fee. So $150 a year isn't a lot of money. So just use the restroom there. That'll keep the toilet bowl brand new looking just like the shower. Her shower is just the oldschool '90s type of cheap priced knobs and faucet.
A 30% increase in water usage isn't so bad considering that there was a 100% increase in residents as well, and if he lives there full time he'd be expected to pay half of the bills which would make it 35% less for her to pay from what it costs now (now as in when the show was made). I really can't see why she'd be upset lol

I had a friend who wouldn’t run her air conditioner below 78 degrees and she had no bulbs in the lights…at night you had to walk around with a candle, even to the bathroom…. She was so weird I just stopped talking to her.

For the most part urine is used for the nitrogen content to break up the carbon which would be leaves, cardboard etc.. the compost breaks down quicker with the urine instead of waiting a year it's only a few months using nitrogen based material
I used to sell appliances and Ken is right. Those appliances she has are probably costing her over $100 extra annually in energy cost, and that's me being conservative about the cost. She wouldn't even need brand new ones. She could buy used appliances and save a ton of money.
