The CTWC Qualifiers started in 2015 when Christian Deitering asked Vince Clemente to host a Southern Qualifier in Texas, sending the winner to CTWC to compete in the World Championship. This was the first of many CTWC qualifying events around the world, which continues to expand and sponsor new players every year. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sharky's a great player, but an even better games commentator. Very high energy and pertinent comments, awesome job!
Dog so good he broke the capture
I absolutely love listening to Sharky cast games. Dude brings crazy hype to every single piece that drops.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my commentary!
I agree. I don’t want to listen to anyone else!
Sharky is the man, to top it off he's still a top 5 ish Das player.
@@tinymarsracing Dear Non-American, watch another stream if this isn't to your exquisite liking.
@@tinymarsracing Well there you go, you could have just done that without whining!
this is the first year where rolling can be seen live IN PERSON... amazing aint it?
It could be seen live before, but the people were skillfully convinced to fear everyday life and to not go outside even with the existence of a vaccine...
Richy rolled at 2021 South Carolina and Huff rolled at 2021 OHIO WPL
I just started playing tetris last week. Tf is rolling??? Do I not have to worry about it since I'll never be comp?
For those who think Tetris doesn’t take much skill, I hope they come across this video. Funny enough I love Tetris and I always thought I was pretty good myself….. until I found this channel and realised I’m nowhere near the level of these players. They are incredible
Yeah! its quite insane
tetris doesn't take much skill to play solo, mostly because the only standards are your own, but competitively is so much harder, especially being some of the best in the world. yeah im good at tetris but these people are next level
After watching these videos I felt like I could be pretty awesome at Tetris.
Downloaded the game and 3 minutes later I decided to retire early from my Tetris career.
Lol It takes time. I personally believe that everyone could at least max in the game with some practice
oh yeah it takes a load of time. i've been playing for quite a while and am nowhere near max out of any kind but i play mainly modern tetris so
Yeah I've been playing about 2 months, my best is 320K level 10 start and I can't see myself getting much past 450K (maybe level 15 statt) at my most optimistic. I was actually pleased to get 15 lines on level 19!
Its hard at first but i started playing 4 days ago and cant stop. I couldn't get past a certain level and went to youtube for help and found this community.
It's refreshing to see a live event after all the online stuff.
Wow, DMJ had some pretty awful luck in game 2. Those droughts were brutal, and the line bars always seemed to come at the worst times too.
droughts are very brutal at times.
Dog is a whole new breed... get it? I'll see myself out....
@M Hirai A dog breed a just a type of dog or species. In this joke, Herrera is calling Dog(player) a whole new breed, basically a new kind of player, a good one.
Dog is god backwards and that is the best way to describe his game 1 performance. God mode err Dog mode
Приятно посмотреть свежий турнир!
Nice to see the latest tournament!
Sorry for these two great players but can someone tell me if I'm gonna see Joseph Saelee playing this season?
It’s unsure as he’s focusing on college right now
DOG is the best Player of today. The gameplan is good as hell. The age and reactions are young and fast... complete Player!!
can some explain why in 8:08dogs score becomes in the negatives?
This is a error with maxout club. So essentially this is an old version of maxout club that can’t read hex correctly.
Thank you for the uploads but why did they take so long? Waco qual was a long time ago
Cheers
There is a lot of things going behind the scenes that have caused things to take a little bit longer to produce
@@ITZsharky1 ok thank you
I’d love to see this in person but I would absolutely lose my sh!t and I feel like everyone there is really quiet
Just wait till the finals
Will CTWC22 be held in person? Would be really cool on the on hand, on the other it would also mean a huge skill drop.
How so, the best players rn are mostly in US so I don't think it will be much a skill drop.
@@zetsupetsu6051 Yeah, but they are mainly school kids who might not be able to travel so freely and flexible, at least not as a whole. But lets see
@@Anomaly92 oh. I haven't really thought about that. Now that you mention it that would indeed pose a problem.
Currently its not confirmed if it will be held in person even though its highly likely, but if it is held the skill drop won't be as massive as you think
+there will surely still be some international players there
Watching these guys I've learnt the top levels are not luck. It's skill.
What happened to the scores in the first game? The score diff flipped a few times at the end. Seems like an obvious bug.
This is a error with maxout club. So essentially this is an old version of maxout club that can’t read hex correctly.
My comment on this video: I DO NOT WANT TO BUY A CHROMEBOOK!
droughts are always going to happen, the way to counter them is with your builds. some player's build style have drought protection built in, others dont
wow, dog, wow!
Is it just me or anyone think that Dog boy is very cute?
They're playing with NES Controllers (👀)
Yup! NES Tetris in it purest form
Y2K bug in the scoring system?
yeah the tetris statistics thing (called maxout club) misread the hex values
did jonas (jdmfx) quit playing tetris?
jdmfx is joseph, and jonas passed away in january 2021
Jd currently is focused on College. He may return but we don't know for sure
Nah Jd will almost certainly be back for the main event in fall/winter at least, but as for the past year yeah you could call him "semi retired" as far as competing in online events goes, he's likely just focusing on other life stuff, plus he's in a bit of a spot with rolling I dont think its coming as natural to him as it has some of the others but will see he's still Joseph and even with his tapping hel always be an elite player.
@@MatthewT184 oh yea lol i thought they had the same name for a sec.
Texas! WTF!
Where is Chris Tang?
Chris Tang is in the California area, this was in Texas
tetris
Well I guess the LPGE is officially dead. 😒
Is there talk of changing to level 19 starts? The level 18 start just seems like a waste of time
Nah that'd be a bad move, for the main event even though rolling is gonna more and more make all the unique styles and creativity of 18028 increasingly irrelevant to some extent, that'd still be a mistake, the main event must always be 18 start always, however it would be cool and good if in the near future hey have separate events featuring say Das only and even 19 start separate events/titles, but for the main main event nah its got to be 18 start always!.
Level 19 starts will never be the standard because of the narrative that 18 builds. 19 wouldn't make the game that much shorter anyways. so not really a "waste"
Gotcha
@@ITZsharky1 Yah I agree man, to me anyways part of the whole beauty of watching elite level Tetris masters compete is seeing the mix of different styles and skills and creativity and all the variations ya know what I mean, heck id be against getting rid of 18 starts simply for the fact it'd mean missing out on watching the amazing creative plays/solves/ improvisational genius of players like Nenu alone right lol, but other reasons to of course, even with rolling and regardless of what comes next and how it may change the game dynamics in drastic ways in the like near future, 18 starts will always be essential part of classic Tetris and in mainline competitions/events, and even in the age of rolling and insane limits being pushed like 1.5-2 even 3 + million games/scores being put up, there are still sometimes level 18 top outs even from elite players Tappers and even rollers alike, it does still happen and while itl happen less and less and less, it will I believe still always happen occasionally still no matter what. With that being said again I do think it would be cool in the future and if possible to maybe aside from at say CTWC having the main event welcome to all styles, DAS/Tap/Roll, 18 starts, etc. If possible in the future I do think it'd be cool if in addition to this perhaps on different days? or even at different times of the year to have things or entirely separate events such as 19 start competitions, and even Das only events/competitions, totally would be down for and okay with that and I think more then a few fans would be? but only as additional and entirely separate events on either separate days or at various different times of the year but it cannot and should not eve be at the expense of or in place of the main classic like CTWC- 18 start- all play styles allowed- main main event!.
first
Sharky talks way too much needs to commentate not monologue.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll take it into consideration.
The main thing is that it solo commentary it’s very easy for dead space to take over, and trying to deliver to a live crowd is a lot harder than you would think. When I commentate solo there is really no one to bounce ideas off against. Normally in duo commentary when I stop talking then the co-commentator picks it up.
So I’ll take that into consideration
@@ITZsharky1 yeah but i saw way more comments they loved the commentary
Imagine being in live competition, where everybody come to watch and many support given to you, but you play absolutely shit, to many misdrop, to much delay tetris, use I pieces to burn, they've seen you play better during pandemic at home. If you can't give better play at live event, just go home, play in your comfort zone. You're not thinking about everyone there who come and support you at all, even if losing 3 in row it still better when the score gap not too far rather than win 1 or 2 but losing to much in other 3 games
