    Gotta say that something I have only recently learned about Noctua that I really love is how much they will support the community, whether its free adapters for their coolers (even if you didn't buy the cooler from them), reverse compatibility going back a quite insane amount of time considering how fast tech has changed(not to mention how much RnD it would take to make sure that it will work on them all), and now this type of stuff where they will supply the files needed to created your own parts. thats some top level stuff right there that I wish more companies would do.
    Also, that LTT Noctua screwdriver looks Awesome!!

Noctua has some pretty neat things and keep the cooler compatibility, which is great. From my experience even the slightest crack on the die will cause issues that sometimes are not obvious or instant. I worked at a tech company that refurbished laptops, and correct placement of the heatsink was very important, a slight misalignment and the tiniest crack that's visible only under high magnification could cause issues like random freezes, blue screens, crashes etc. The bad thing is that sometimes this doesn't happen right away after assembling the heatsink, the device may seem that it's functioning. So if you get issues after cleaning your unprotected (without IHS) cpu or gpu and you get normal temperatures, you probably damaged your dies. I definitely recommend the protective frame at all costs, since this is a very expensive damage, and you get no warranty whatsoever.

  • @MrCroky123

    The real funny thing about "delidded" cpu's is that they were actually officially produced for some time in the early 2000's. AMD came from the lidded K6-3 to the delidded Athlon T-bird and went back to lidded with the Athlon 64. Intel came from the slotted Pentium 2 to the delidded Pentium 3 and back to the lidded Pentium 4.
    Bottom line, I actually broke a duron and a t-bird thanks to their mounting system and the delidded cpu's. They were actually RMA'd without any question when the reason was the mounting. Funny how things evolve over time. I guess both Intel and AMD learned their lesson back in the day. But man ... I still recall the first cpu's water blocks were made during that era. Overcloking went crazy because of both delidded cpu's and water blocks. And unlocking the T-bird with a pencil now seems like a joke but it was damn fun back then XD

      The point is that with this excellent air cooler you don't strictly need to water cool. It can handle a 300W load so why go through the pain of water cooling when you can slap one of these on and be done?

    • @MaheerKibria
      @MaheerKibria Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@kevinwells9751 What pain of water cooling? Water blocks are easier to install than air cooler because they are significantly lighter not to mention since they have a small footprint clearance and working around the fin stack isn't a thing. Because it is custom installing the radiator and fans are a piece of cake since the tubes aren't connected until you want to connect them. And a pump res combo also is rather easy to install. And soft tubing is cut and tighten down. Even filling a loop is easy unless you're LTT staff forced to use the LTT water bottle for product placement instead of a squeeze bottle. Cost is where you see the huge difference. But If you don't mind voiding the warranty of a $500+ CPU, cost probably isn't important to you.

    • @Ahnii
      @Ahnii Před 11 měsíci +1

      Watercooling usually is noisier (unless you buy a MORA or something similar) and it also depends on cases, beside that aircooling is just way more reliable.

    • @MaheerKibria
      @MaheerKibria Před 11 měsíci

      @@Ahnii You might want to check your data. Almost everyone that has done noise normalized tests will tell you that water cooling is quieter. As for reliability, not sure why that is a consideration for someone that is delidding a CPU and voiding the warranty of the CPU then you're using liquid metal which generally negatively affects the long term reliability of most metals. Like that seems to be the entire point of deliding and using liquid metal sacrifice reliability for the hopes of better temps, quieter operation etc. That being said the MTBF for a d5 is like 50000 hours which is still like 5 years running 24/7 so $70 every 5 years to replace a pump is not the end of the world. And from experience replacing the pump takes maybe half an hour its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

    • @Ahnii
      @Ahnii Před 11 měsíci

      @MaheerKibria There are air coolers that usually are quieter than watercoolers, the nh-15 for example definitely is quieter than pretty much all AIOs and many custome loops! And there even is the possibility to use a passive cooler like the monsterlabo beast if you really want to. This has been a topic in the silent pc community for ages. Direct die doesn't mean one has to use liquid metal, there are really good alternatives.

Its mandatory (in my opinion) however for anyone with a Z690< motherboard and an unlocked (k) processor; Keep in mind if you have a old Noctua NH D15 cooler, a cheap adapter costing 7-15 bucks is needed with a change to a LGA 1700 motherboard from an older model.
