- Here we answer a question which is the best helmet for winter bad weather cycling? One easy tip is wear a beanie or skull cap under your normal helmet but on some days that's not enough (eg wet days!). One common question is can I use a ski/snowboard helmet for cycling? Also can I use a Scooter/Bike helmet for cycling!? This is a tricky question. Some will say no simply on looks alone (call the fashion police!) but for those who want a light, aero comfortable winter cycling helmet one of the best options is a lightweight ski helmet as its wind and waterproof. Some have reversible vents. Scooter helmets are possible but generally too heavy for everyday cycling unless you have a neck like lou ferrigno!
I run hot, and I have neck-pain-induced migraines. I hate ski helmets. I've worn mine 3 x. So now I wear my bike helmet. I'm the Jerry. But as I tell my kid (who DOES wear a ski helmet): The best helmet is the one you will actually wear.

If you are training or racing in the winter, I have found ski helmets to have inadequate ventilation. what works for me is covering the front vents of a standard bike helmet with duct tape on the inside. l leave the top side and rear vents open. I also wear a thin cap that covers my ears under the helmet.

I use a Giro Attack helmet with the vents taped up in the middle of winter in Canada.
Please consider the Lazer that comes with the removeable aeroshell. I use it year round, with the shell in the winter and without in the summer. And use the shell if it is windy or raining. The base model is not expensive.
