What a great hood ornament the owl on the car top would have made if it had landed on the other end of the car. Fitting for the owl lover you are. I’d love to taken any of the shot you considered “throw aways”. Thanks for sharing again.

  • @PhotographybyTimWMoore

I miss your vlogs! And I missed watching this one from two years back. It’s fun comparing the image quality of that old antique D850 compared to the new mirrorless cameras. One reason I upgraded to the Z9 was the fact that all new lenses are now going to be z lenses. So many options are now being released by Nikon.
I would love to go on a workshop this fall, but I don’t think you want to put up with my disability. I’m very limited to hiking any distance. But car rides are ok, and the last time I went out with you, I was able to capture some wonderful images. And, it would be great to get tips about using my Z9.
    Keep up the great vlogs!

Wow! to all the individual shots. The sequence was very impressive as well. My bird sequences start off with the bird, then the wing tips, then a lot of trees or sky, the back of the bird and a whole lot of crying and and disappointment at the end. Nice to see wildlife photography done right. Beautiful work.

I really like the style of this video with you explaining Steve. It adds another level to understanding how the photos were captured. We had a few GGOs here last (Ottawa Canada) and it was fun photographing them. At the 17:57, the Sony A9 shooter in me chuckled at blackout. I don't miss that at all for bif lol (But you did a great job nailing that sequence)

Loved the images with the bright yellow leaf backgrounds, even with the snow falling in the foreground! The long hunting owl flight sequence was bangin' , awesome!
I'm still learning to keep my birds in the frame while they're in flight, hawks in my case; and I just find I have to turn the zoom back to get a wider field to track with. And like you said, it just takes a few wing beats and it's gone. Wish I had a bigger lens too, 500mm or better certainly is drool worthy.

Great stuff Steve. One of my favourites from this video is one you didn't mention in the commentary; it's the one from the video clip of the owl sat amongst some branches that look as if they are doing an impression of a 'mangrove tree'.
Once again I'm amazed that your wildlife out there seems so much more approachable ( car images) than ours here in Wales (UK).
