  • Sena Cavalry Helmet Review
    www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/s...
    For the half helmet aficionado in search of the creature comforts often only afforded to those in full-face lids, the Sena Cavalry Helmet has been created to fill the void. Constructed of a fiberglass composite shell, the helmet portion of the Sena Cavalry Helmet is aerodynamic and provides a low-profile footprint. Most notably, however, is the inclusion of Sena Bluetooth. Coming with Bluetooth 4.1 capabilities, advanced audio distribution, noise control, and wind-noise reduction, the functionality of the Sena Cavalry Helmet takes the half-helmet Bluetooth game to the next level.

    I'm seriously looking forward to getting this helmet. In the video, you mention how you think it would be good for them to integrate a drop down visor, but consider that by adding that drop down visor, it would most likely effect the noise-canceling microphone. One of the difficulties I have found is that I have prescription eyeglasses, and I have impact rated eye protection that has prescription inserts. It makes it really difficult to shop for helmets in stores because most bike dealerships carry a lot of helmets that have the drop down visors. Luckily, I was able to get in and try a Sena Calvary helmet on in a local shop before they stopped carrying them.

    Beware...1st off this helmet sounds great as far as the Bluetooth
    functions go. The bigger issue is build quality. I own one and literally
    from day one, the ear pads (which are supposed to slide in, click and
    stay in place) do not. It's incredibly annoying to have to reassemble
    them every time I remove and replace my helmet. The other complaint I
    have is the cheap double D ring...Come on Sena, a helmet in this price
    range without ratcheting connector is just plain silly and takes away
    from the whole concept. The other annoying fact of dealing with Sena is
    the non-English speaking reps when you try to get help. I have nothing
    against Hindu people. But I don't speak their broken English. Any
    company that chooses to woo American Consumers should have Americans
    handling the customer service. This is worse than Chinese
    directions....

      You are 100% correct The earpieces have absolutely zero ability to stay in place and every time you take your helmet off they will fall out with the potential to the lose them being 100%! What a piece of trash

    A drop down visor would be sweet.

  • @tedwelsh3973
    @tedwelsh3973 Před 7 lety

    The helmet fit me about 99% perfect but I have two complaints: 1) the chin strap sits so far forward I am constantly worried it will slip up over my mouth. 2) I ride an open bike and the wind noise is just too much to hear anything over 25mph. My wife can hear me perfectly at any speed so the microphone is great. However, I can't hear her. I have tried the ear flaps and agree with another reviewer, they don't stay in place. But, even when they do the wind noise is terrible. I've bought another helmet with a full neck curtain and it works much better.

    Anthony, is there a 3/4 helmet with builtin Bluetooth speakers?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 7 lety +1

      We don't have a 3/4 with only Bluetooth speakers built in. We have the Schuberth M1, which has speakers installed, but it requires purchasing the M1 SRC controller in order to use them. The controller fits into the back of the helmet. There are plenty of 3/4 helmets that will accept universal Bluetooth communicators and their speakers though. If you want help narrowing the selection, I recommend getting in touch with a Gear Geek at 877-792-9455 or at cs@revzilla.com. -DrewZilla

    I have owned a number of communication headsets but this one I’m not a big fan of unless you’re only riding around town. Seems if you go anything over 50-55 the other people can hear you but not very good and once you get 65 or more it’s a pain in the ass. Nice concept like I said works in town nice but would I invest $500+ helmet and controller no not again.

      It SHOULD: I believe the CVO bikes came with the WHIM standard. I wouldn't guarantee stereo audio though; HD has made it so that only the Boom branded Sena 20S Evo headset has full stereo (aptx protocol built in), and the 20S is stereo though not as high quality. I have to guess this helmet will fall into the same catagory: not Boom, so mono audio for music.

      Or add the Boom WHIM module to your Boombox GT. Though that option is pricey, it makes the bluetooth headset functionality integrated so you don't have anything hanging off your bars (and having to connect to the bike for power and comms). Bear in mind: anything NON-HD Boom branded (as far as bluetooth headsets) will only get MONO audio through the WHIM though. HD did just release their own branded version of this helmet...not sure if they had Sena customize the firmware to work fully with the WHIM (which is what they did with the Boom version of the 20S Evo headsets).
