- NASCAR The Game 2011 was one of the most memorable NASCAR games of the last 20 years for all of the wrong reasons. The game had great hype leading up to it only for it to be relatively unfinished and fall flat on its face to the disappointment of NASCAR fans everywhere. Today we are gonna look back at this both for old times sake as well as a way to put things into perspective for the modern day game releases. This is the most disappointing NASCAR game ever.

What were your thoughts on NASCAR The Game 2011?
Underrated
Played it before, and it’s honestly not bad. At least it had good physics, something we haven’t had since the eutechnyx (hope I spelled it right) era.
I played it along time ago it’s not that bad it’s Underrated

I remember EA’s last NASCAR game (not including Kart Racing) was 09 which was made in 2008 and there was no Game until this one released in 2011 so everyone was way too hyped and it couldn’t meet expectations

I remember being on the forum for this game and the developers admitted they had never even watched a race before nearing the end of development. That coupled with the game not working and NO REAR MIRROR. I played it once and junked it.

I remember playing this game on the Wii back when I was 10 lol, I thought it was good back then. There were a lot of issues with it, but as a kid you can look past a lot of it and have fun with the game.

NASCAR 2011 is just fun. Not really a game to treat like iRacing, it’s just fun to sit down and play, especially eliminator racing

My favorite memory of NTG 11 was that on release day all of the NASCAR people stopped playing GT5 and started playing NTG, and by the next day, half of them came back to GT5.

I actually liked NTG2011 it was the first game I ever played, that was most likely a contributing factor for my interest for Nascar.

I also rember it well, it wasn’t my first nascar game that was nt2003 which I loved I also played nt2005 total team control and I think nascar 07 or 08. But the reason I liked this game was probably because I was about 11-12 when I got it. But I have gone back and played it on the wheel when I was about 17-19 and it wasn’t to bad the damage model is stupid sensitive. And the one real glitch I had was at darlington when the AI would try to put they’d make a traffic jam that congested the whole track. But i rember the physics being fun with no assists on on the wheel, the car being slidey and having weight and the car getting worse and looser off corner exit the more the rears wore. I don’t think this game was that bad personally not good but not terrible just kinda eh and having its moments
I remember playing Inside Line at my cousin’s for hours. That game was awesome
All of this just feels like it's pushing me to go through with this crazy idea I've had to start an indie development team for a "Stock-Car Racing Sandbox Experience" so we can do it ourselves! blend a grounded, real, and fun racing experience with all the bells and whistles the "Thunder era" games had along with features we should have today! Paint booth, different eras of racing, togglable assists and rulesets... I'm writing a big document on all the features and hope to make a video on it soon.

I've been playing Nascar games for almost 20 years. Nascar 09 was the first game I ever played online, and it was actually very fun. Don't recall any bad issues regarding online game play. NTG2011 was a different story. It was rough lol.

2011 was my first nascar game. I was 4 or 5 and my dad whos into nascar got it. I never found it glitchy or poor quality, although I was 5. But I remember fondly about nascar the game 2011
Played Inside Line recently and honestly if that was the first game from this group it would’ve been a really good first step.

I hated that they would add non cup drivers and like you said during the early 2010 era they definitely had more than 43 drivers show up for qualifying so they definitely had drivers that actually ran cup. It’s weird playing the game knowing they left out drivers like regan smith, Casey mears, Landon cassil, Dave blaney and more.

Been playing since nascar 1998-1999, so the very beginning of the start of the modern non arcade style racing that’s pretty much been the base of what we see today. There was more features in nascar heat 2000 than some of the games in the last ten years have had. And I’m sorry but I won’t support NASCAR 21 putting a game out even the supposed one day patch is to fix all these bugs (I’ve counted over 30 moderate to major bugs/issues that should NOT BE A PROBLEm) these games have fallen off and continue to look better visually but the lack of content is just pitiful. I will hold your money until this is 30-40$ with the dlc included,
The cars front end disintegrated from bump drafting and pit stops were more of a theoretical physics experiment than actual strategy
I remember the graphics were bad when you were drafting and after you win a race you only had 30 seconds to do a burnout which to me was stupid. 30 seconds!? What were they thinking. Also they had every driver doing a backflip after every victory.
That is a massive yikes. But now I have to ask the question: What would you recommend getting as far as Nascar game now? Games such as Heat 3, Heat 4 and Heat 5 seem like solid choices, compared to the alternatives of Nascar 21 or emulating one of the older games.
I distinctly remember doing a short race at Talladega when I played it on the Wii back in 2013-14ish. The AI was so bad that I lapped the whole field twice within 9 laps of the 20 lap race.
As a European, I'm not even allowed to be disappointed since this was the only game that was released in Belgium apart from NASCAR '14 and the EA games. We didn't even had the choice to buy Inside Line lol
For the record. NASCAR 09 online lobbies have still yet to be matched. Between actually having an organized gaming community and being the most troll preventing online game, it set the bar high. Now that the younger generation of gamers have came in, they’ll never understand what a good online nascar game is like.

Funny thing about the EA era is most people on the forums back then actually hated the EA games and preferred Heat/Dirt2Daytona but now everyone looks back and realizes they weren't actually that bad😂

Honestly, I really enjoyed 2011, I remember getting it summer vacation that year, and I played it almost everyday, sure it wasn't the best, but I liked it, and inside line on were truly amazing in my opinion

I really am disappointed that Inside Line got overshadowed by 2011, I still unironically play it today, and it's defiantly in the top 10 of NASCAR console games (which albeit that isn't too hard to get into with how much of a dud the Heat series was and the later EA games were, and hell, even the rest of the Eutechnyx games were)
I don’t get the hate 08 gets to me it’s one of the best games I loved it especially how in season mode you switched between the gen 4 car and the cot during the season like the real nascar season
08 gets the hate that it gets because on 360 and PS3 at least, the handling is the worst anyone has ever had in a NASCAR game. I've still never completed a race due to the instability of the handling/physics. It was atrocious.

Well, now that NASCAR 21 IGNITION is out, we have a new worst NASCAR game.
I've had this game since its release and it's pretty decent. The paint booth is really good and I've made several paint schemes ranging from throwbacks to iconic cars or custom ones just for myself. The only downside is that Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers keep trying to wreck me every race.
NASCAR Thunder 2004 was such a great game. I remember playing it on the OG Xbox when I was younger and the game is wayy better than NASCAR Heat 5 (it doesn’t stand out or have any exciting modes/features). Surprisingly the game was made by EA of all companies.
That loading screen was like serving a prison sentence. It never ended 😂😂😂

I thought the graphics were good and it wasn't all that bad. Better than Heat so far. But give it time. They put this game together pretty fast. I bet next year will be better. Very happy to see a paint booth though.
I remember playing this with my cousin a few years back and I had so much fun playing it. I honestly wasn't even aware of any issues. Looking back, the only issue I had was even though I was a lap ahead of most of the field, i was put a lap behind everyone after one pit stop.
I had this on the Wii for a little while. Tried playing it with both the nunchuck, and tilt control, and found just about every short track virtually impossible to drive. Intermediate and Restrictor Plate tracks were fine, but I spent far too long just trying to complete a qualifying lap at Bristol without throwing my controller across the room because the car refused to turn. Really disappointed me at that age, and I put it down for good pretty soon after buying it.
I remembered being hyped with it back in 2011 but ended up with NR2003 on a potato laptop and stuck with the keyboard.
It was a bit of a dissapointment cause career node is bland and I can't be competitive with the keyboard but NOW I realize that it was all a blessing in disguise. To this day I still play NR2003 as a go to NASCAR game.

I remember playing the wii version of this game, getting wrecked at Atlanta, going airborne and flying over pit road while no caution came out but I got black flagged for "illegal pit road entry"
This game had the craziest glitch ever where you would barely drop a wheel onto the apron and it would spin your car a complete 180 and bring out a caution even though you were nowhere near the pack
I remember getting spun out and landed on pit road, but I get penalized for illegal entry to the pits. Cost me the race because of the dumb A.I.
nowhere close to the worst, but the Eliminator mode was the best part
I remember cautions hardly ever working, especially online. It was also a major disappointment because it only had the cup series. I can't remember if it was this one or Inside Line where the career mode was just you racing as a real driver. There was no create a driver.

There are things that you missed about NASCAR 2011 that you might not have seen when you played the game. I remember playing NASCAR 2011 and I remember how broken the game was.
Whenever AI would crash the caution would come out. But whenever you get involved in a crash or spin out the caution sometimes wouldn’t come out.
Everytime I reached level Ace the game would reset my progress and start over again for no reason.
There was also the option to pause the game and take photos. But everytime I would try to access my photo album from the main menu the game would always freeze.

Funny you uploaded this as I've been playing this game a lot recently because it's super nostalgic to me. I agree it's disappointing but still a decent game nonetheless
I'm old enough to remember Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 4, which was so bad that you couldn't finish a 10% race at Martinsville because the AI would create a massive pile-up that would block the entire track and the game would get stuck in a perpetual yellow with the pace car plowing through piles of AI cars. :D

It’s very ironic that EA Sports is what 2k is in the football world because we all hate madden and wish 2k would make football games wish we could donate EA sports to nascar because they were actually good at that
I remember looking at this game and Skyrim and well... i made a decision i never forgot. This game made me so mad... and playing Skyrim later. I think this was my second worst purchase.

NASCAR 08 and 09 are some of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Your actually nuts if you think this 21 game and heat games are better then 08-09 and 2011. You really don’t know the nascar gaming community.

I remember going to my favorite track, Watkins Glen, to find the pit boxes on the left side of pit road...
The numerous glitches in this game were insane, the damage model was crap, online was trash, you had no career mode. Just so many things went wrong for this game. Eliminator racing was pretty good though. Thank god they improved for inside line. That may be the best game from the eutechnyx era.
I honestly remember the game one of my favorites. I don’t know if I got a later version of the game and perhaps most of the bugs were fixed but looking back on the game and the way the graphics looked and the way the game played to me it was incredible.
Been playing nascar 2011 the game on the wii since it was released and still play it to this date. Love that game.
The best part about NTG 2011 for the wii was the fact that it was released like 2 months later than the other versions and 9 year old me was upset about the better version from Xbox and Playstation but 9 year old me was so happy to play it

They had field fillers from lower series due to licensing. NASCAR games have to individually license each car and driver, and if some of the smaller teams were uncooperative, they had to find a way to fill the field
I honestly find nascar games to be to over hyped and over serious like just cause it’s glitching with nascar 21 and nascar 11 and evolution you can still have a blast playing any game
You know what was really off putting for me in NASCAR 06? Everytime someone was far behind me. My car would get uncontrollable...like either too loose or too tigh without any logical explanation. Idk if anyone else ever experienced that phenomenon.
NASCAR The Game 2011 was the last new NASCAR game I ever played. I didn't own it, it was on a friend's Wii. Was good for a laugh, but that's about it haha.
I was lucky to have skipped this game all together and to this day is the only Nascar game on my Complete collection I've never touched. Because the 2012 game was so good
The past several months RealRadman got me into Nascar Thunder 2003. But Nascar Inside Line will always be one of my favorite Nascar games to date. So many memories on that game.

That's it. From now on I'm demanding every NASCAR game needs a mode that removes the sheet metal and lets you drive a naked chassis. I know that was probably a bug in this game but it looks hilariously awesome.

As a fan from the EA days, this one hurt. Nascar 09 was decent on PS3/360, but very bare bones. EA even had one more game in their license deal, and decided to end it with Nascar Kart Racing on Wii. The only sim console content from 2008-2011 was Gran Turismo 5 which was a few cars, Daytona, Indy, and technically Suzuka if you wanted to recreate the few special events held there. Fans waited a very, very long time for a game to come even close to the mid 2000s golden age, then we waited for a game of any sort, only to get this. On top of that, this game and Inside Line were published by Activision, and for some reason they absolutely refused to drop the price. These games flopped hard for so many reasons.
This was the first game I ever received and played so it holds a lot of value to me. Although it wasn’t the game anyone was hyped for it to be I still played it for countless hours and honestly still play it to this day. I definitely prefer this game and NASCAR 15 over ANY heat game
Honestly if ETX fixed the netcode for NASCAR: Inside Line and beyond, the online would've been excellent since the physics were great for a console game (minus the safer barrier physics), good multi groove, fall off, etc. But they neglected to fix the netcode and sadly the game just never got a following for leagues and whatnot because of that which would've helped to keep it alive. It's safe to say we're all tired of entirely screwed up NASCAR games at this point.

I had a TON of Nostalgia from Nascar the game 2011 because of it was my 1st NASCAR video game I EVER played . I remember when I was really into NASCAR because of I was a fan of going the wrong way of the racetrack in a single player race and causing a HUGE Wreck by crashing into the race leader and nearly everyone else PILED into the wreck. I was a fan of that in Nascar the game 2011 and Nascar inside line. I also remember that I was a big fan of the drivers in that game like Brian Vickers, Kevin Conway, Robby Gordon, Scott Speed, Kasey Kahne, Dale Jr, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick and others BUT drivers like Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurray, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth I WASN'T a fan of them at the time back in 2014 and 2015 BUT I did started to like a lot more later in 2016-2021. In fact near the end of the 2015 season I started to like Jeff Gordon a ton. Also about Nascar 21 Ignition, I know there is a TON OF PROBLEMS with the game right now like bugs, glitches and more that the NASCAR Fans HATE a ton and like Nascar heat games More than 21 Ignition and also saying it's the WORST NASCAR GAME EVER BUT I think Motorsport games is working on those glitches and bugs in BIG patches right now so Nascar 21 Ignitionis getting some BIG work on right now to make it 1 of the best NASCAR GAMES EVER

NTG2011 was my first and only NASCAR game I bought. I played it for about 1.5 hours before I just gave up on it. I should still have the CD somewhere in my house.
I remember doing my first full race at Daytona in cockpit view on the second to last lap i just crossed the line then smashed into a car stuck on the apron

I think most people forget that NASCAR 2011’s trailer was a theatrical trailer & not a gameplay trailer so idk why people were expecting so much out of this game

It was so bad I never bought another NASCAR game for console ever again.
Sometimes with there not being a full field of cup drivers, or whatever series you may be in, it's because they couldn't get the licensing to use a particular driver or car. So they make one up or use one they were able to get. Idr which heat game it was, but it had Hallie deegan in a truck when she wasn't even close to a truck ride yet. She was basically a field filler. And if you ran your own truck, or an additional truck for an existing team she would go away
NASCAR 2004 was hands down the best of the console series.
I actually really liked this game. The online glitches at first were ridiculous though. But the graphics were pretty good and I thought the cars handled fairly realistically when the assists were off. They would actually slide and if you gassed too hard on the road courses or Martinsville they weren't just super planted to the track.
Evolution is the worst, but Eutechnyx was a total abomination because of the horrendous AI.
They also started the trend of Nadcar game development that completely ignored statistics. That trend didn't end until midway through the Heat series, with 7 years of consecutive Nascar games with no statistical compilation.
I think it was EA Sports NASCAR 05 with Kevin Harvick on the cover was the best damn NASCAR games ever made and you started at the bottom driving the featherlights and you signed contracts throughout the whole NASCAR series. And yes NASCAR 2011 Nascar Fastlane Frontline or front-row those games were garbage

The drivers not appearing thing is usually an issue licensing specific driver's images and their sponsors it's a messy thing with all sports games
