- I'm back. The Nintendo Wii was an interesting system to say the least. The system had four NASCAR games in its library that cashed in on its motion controls features, those being NASCAR Kart Racing, NASCAR Unleashed, NASCAR The Game: 2011, and NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. If you aren't familiar with any of these Wii titles, this will show you everything you need to know.

Best part about the Wii? If you have one that had backward compatibility with games on the Gamecube, you had Thunder 2003 and Chase for the Cup 2005 as well!
That really was what I used my original Wii for mostly, it made for an awesome GameCube mini.

Here's something fun you can do in Inside Line:
1. Turn cautions off
2. Turn full damage on
3. Accumulate enough damage to get a DNF
4. Enter pit road incorrectly (i.e. enter past the commitment cone or enter through the exit)
Assuming the game doesn't crash, your car will get sent to the Shadow Realm
You just get VAC Banned from Daytona

I remember as a dumb little kid I played NASCAR Kart Racing and when I booted it up I accidentally made the entire game be in French and never figured out how to turn it back. It made the "cutscenes" the funniest thing ever.

Strange kinda unrelated memory from my childhood emerged when i read this 😂. When i was a kid my mom bought a bunch of pokemon cards for me from a garage sale or something, and several of them were in french, and had different names than the english version. Thats what i originally thought those pokemon were called before i had any of the video games lmao
I did the same thing with flatout when I was little I turned it to german got scared didnt know what Zerucktemenu was and turned it off
It doesn’t change the dialogue just the subtitles. How tf was it so funny.
Actually the dialogue was in French but the subtitles were in English. You know that guy in Talladega Nights? It was like that
Fun fact. Inside Line was the very last North American Wii game to make use of the GameCube controller.

Nascar Unleashed this game kind of feels like a spiritual successor to Nascar Rumble.

I also remember playing “Jimmie Johnson’s Anything with a engine”. It was kind of a weird game but fun nonetheless

There’s a shortcut at Talladega on NASCAR Kart Racing where you can basically cut half the track and win every time. The entry to it is on the inside at the end of the backstretch.

I played NASCAR Kart Racing as a kiddo back in the day. The first copy I had cracked and so I didn't have it for a while but then missed it one day so asked for it for Christmas a while later. I still enjoy it to this day.
As a kid Cart racing was one of my favorite nascar games. Even now, it’s still probably somewhere it the top 10

I remember playing the hell out of Inside Line on the Wii so much so that I had the loosest setups I could make and would run laps around the field on the highest difficulty setting.

Having only a Wii throughout the late 00's-early 10's, Inside Line and Kart Racing were my go to Nascar games. I remember having so much fun in career modes with Inside Line and stacking up the field at Bristol to cause big crashes all race to see who could win.
I have nostalgia with inside line bc me and my brother used to run Bristol with no cautions and no damage and tried to find a window going full throttle in every massive pileup while also watching our wiis processor melt and drop frames 💀
Had Inside Line. Only racing game I've seen where you can get stuck inside the back of another car or vice versa and popping back out made you go faster.
I remember having Nascar 2011 when I was little.
All I remember about the game was being upset that I didn't get first every race, and halfway during a race, there was a Dove nest right outside my window.
By the by, there are still Doves that come by occasionally and make a nest outside to this day
My parents got me a wii in 07 since I knew nothing about video games and that was the popular console that everyone my age had. I never understood why there wasn't a real nascar game on the wii. I got that kart racer game and played on talladega over and over again since it was the closest thing to a "real" nascar sim. Then eventually I got inside line and realized within about 30 minutes it was doo doo, or maybe I was just doo doo at it. Lots of tears... It was fun to pull the classic drive backwards and wreck the field tho
NASCAR the Game 2011, was the first game I ever owned. I enjoyed doing 100% races on it as it was honestly challenging to stay up front without damaging your car or causing a crash for most of the race. I also loved bump drafting because you can go insanely fast at Daytona and Talladega, going at least 10-20mph faster than top speed on your own, easily lapping most of the field, but it's hard to do and gets even harder when pitting happens as by drafting you often have more fuel than the AI and they'll just start braking and ditch you to go to the pits. As for road courses, they are extremely hard yet rewarding to race if you can get them down. There's a time attack challenge at Sonoma that's wicked difficult yet as a kid I beat it, I went to try to beat it recently and can't figure out how I did it.
It's honestly my favorite racing game and I thoroughly enjoyed the many hours I played it.

You showed off the two most fun tracks in Inside Line, Atlanta and Bristol. Atlanta is fun because it's flat out, but still tricky enough to be rewarding. As for Bristol, you didn't even need to drive the wrong way to cause a logjam. The track-blocking wreck would happen organically given enough laps with cautions turned off, and it would turn into an endurance race of sorts with a very jumbled-up order at the end.
I have so many memories playing Nascar Kart Racing. Had such a blast playing it. I also had Nascar unleashed on the PS3.
NASCAR Inside Line for the Wii is the absolute most frustrating game to play. Any dink of contact spins you out, even if you rear end a car(cuz that makes sense). Also, the AI is generally impossible to crash unless you intently troll them like going in reverse or lepaging them.
Atlanta also is the only track you can floor it outside of Daytona and Talladega and be fine at(excluding Chastaining Martinsville).
Also fun fact: You can cause a severe crash at Bristol or Martinsville in the game, and the AI won't slow down for it. So you get 40 car wrecks that lag the game to 1-2 FPS.
And Atlanta I've done laps in the 27.30's.
I honestly think Inside Line on the Wii is fine, but what kills me is the Career mode. For some god forsaken reason, I can't draft at all in this mode even though the mechanic is perfectly functional on literally every other mode
I remember playing nascar inside lane for the wii.I loved creating giant wrecks as all kids would do. But I created a giant one where as soon as I hit the car the wii blue screened and died.
Say what you will, I loved playing these games. It's worth noting that 2011 was my first ever Nascar Game that I got to own. Played it a lot. But Inside Line? I did it all. Some noteworthy stuff though :
2011 : up down up down 1 2 1 2 you can enter a password and unlock the Scrapped Mark Martin Go Daddy paint schemes
2012 : The "Custom Cars" Were designed and submitted by fans. Their names are even on the name rails.

I remember getting Unleashed on my 3DS and I loved it to death.
I grew up on Kart Racing and 2011 the game on the Wii. In 2016, I got Unleashed and NASCAR Heat Evolution. Yep.
Glad I’m not the only one who hated the inside line port. The twitchy controls killed it for 10 year old me
NASCAR Unleashed was my first nascar game, since I only had nintendo growing up. Fun times
As a child this was the nascar game I had access to, even as a 7 or 8 year old who understood what nascar was this game was always underwhelming. The speed racer game provided a better experience despite having loops
I remember wanting to play NASCAR Unleashed back then, and the fact it was also on the 3DS made me wanted to play more at the hottest portable console at the time.
Also I thought I saw this video years ago... start of 2023? And people say time fly fast.
i remember playing wii inside line, i popped a tire during a crash, and i got soft locked because the car would turn on restarts, triggering a caution before i could pause and restart the race

I had The Inside Line for the Wii and I didn't realize it was such a downgrade from the 2011 game. I would have bought the old game many years ago if I knew that 🤣
nascar the game 2011 is somehow a 1 to 1 port of the game physics from the console version, tho the ai is... less than ideal

I bought Inside Line for the Wii… in 2013. It was a good time, to be honest. Guess I didn’t really know better. I remember running a full 110-lap race at Sonoma, and then all 90 laps of Watkins Glen, too, one day just because I was that bored, and wanted to challenge myself.
Don’t remember any serious competition from the AI, so yeah, got that there…
Has anyone but me noticed that NASCAR unleashed those cars are looking awful lot like the car's of today the next-gen. So you're telling me they stole the design from a NASCAR game that I had completely forgotten about from over a decade ago?

Funny looking back in Inside Line Wii port which came out during a time where the only game consoles I had were the PS2 and the Wii. Back in 2012 I watched one review on CZcams for NASCAR The Game Inside Line and thought immediately that I wanted it. I noticed that they sold it on the Wii and my stupid ass got it expecting the same level quality as the PS3/Xbox 360 versions, so you could only imagine the level of disappointment I felt when I put the disc in. It’s one thing to be scaled down for a system that wasn’t as capable, but it was so off that it looked and felt like a different game all together, and features like the paint booth or photo mode, didn’t even exist.

I gotta say; Nascar the Game: 2011 and Nascar the Game Inside Line (despite this one being upscaled as he said) don't look half bad for Wii hardware! I mean yeah they don't look great, but they don't look bad at all!

You should've tried Atlanta with cautions, there's a bug where a certain car will spin out (probably you) each time on the restart before you even get control of the car and you will get an endless caution loop 😂

Nascar Unleashed was made with leftover assets from what would have been Blur 2 from Bizarre Creations, thats why its an okay game.

I grew up with inside line, I loved and still love this game. I have played the ps3 version and it’s a lot better, but the Wii version just holds a special place for me
NASCAR inside line on the Wii is the worst game I’ve ever played, I’ve never had such a miserable, frustrating, and stressful experience playing it and that’s why I love it so much
