Come SAILING with Zingaro!!!! Go to sailingzingaro.com/ to see availability. Hope to see you out here! -James
Plukky is such a good egg. He's always helping the locals, fixing their spear guns, giving away his food, etc. Great interview!!!
You 2 guys are the most upfront guys on CZcams .old school honesty about your lives brings so much respect I have for both of you 👍.
Great interview - with two guys I've followed for years. Plukky- we've traded emails (as survivors from shipwrecks - mine, Searunner 37 trimaran, Fiji, cyclone Meli, 1979) and listening to you describe the loss of your cat again just brought up my own deeply buried feelings about losing my tri. I may have to pour a stiff drink. And James, sailing your broken hulk to Hawaii was almost more amazing! Thanks for your video channels, which keep an old sea dog's dream alive. (I'm now rebuilding a 1984 monohull, hoping for one last sea expedition - along with my daughter).
This is why everyone loves James. Great Captain, Great Person, Great Friend.
Plucky is no different. I'd be honored to sail with either of you one day.
James, this is another killer interview. I haven't heard the whole story from Plukky until now. I think I started watching Sailing Into Freedom at about the time the Columbians gave them food and water. I'm also very proud of what he has done and where he is going. I wish him all the luck in the world and I know he's going in the right direction with the Mumby build.
Excellent to hear the backstory and more, you are both engaging story tellers…
Plukky: I have so enjoyed this episode and hearing you speak about your story and your adventures. I am so exited for you for this new opportunity that you have created for yourself. To be part of a design and build of a new boat. Amazing. It's like all of your experiences, observations and experiences just building into a wonderful future. I wish you much success and I'd love to put my name on the list to purchase one. James: you are a very good interviewer and you are magical at steering and guiding a story for what is truly interesting in the story. You guys are great for the promotion of cruising and sailing. Thank you so much.
Hey thanks, Tim, appreciate the kudos. Glad you liked. Pluck is easy to interview, super interesting guy. We’ve got a few more of these planned.
💯
First saw Plucky when Delos bumped into him. Seems like a legend, became a subscriber
Yeah it is the one and only Pirate Capt. Plukky!!!!! I was wondering how sailors stayed alive during COVID. Wow pretty intense. Congrats on the new build! Happy Sailing ⛵
I'm a big fan of your "between the sheets"' podcasts James, and this one is absolutely.."top stuff". Yes I know I'm biased because I'm one of Plukkies Kickstarter sponsors but listening to Plukkynos is so inspiring and fun at the same time. Thanx James for having him on the show and letting him tell his story. 🤙💪
I really enjoyed this, it was great to hear Plucky speaking normally - so engaging!
God bless Margareta.
Very enlightening - seeing short stints with Plukky on other channels - I thought he was a taco short of a combination plate - though lots of fun. This conversation showed him as an optimistic, thoughtful, compassionate and very insightful man. Very well done. Thank you James & Plukky
i've been waiting for a proper interview of plukky. thanks!
next time though, can you go into more of your backstory, peter? like before you got your catamaran? what kind of life did you live back then? how'd you acquire all the skills you have? when did you learn how to sail? where did you learn how to fix your boat/engine while out at sea? james learned in the military. what about you? did you just push off one day and learn on the fly?
He won't want to talk about that he was an engineer him and his wife were planning boat life but one of their kids died... And they split she stayed on land with rest of kids.
James, when a ligthing strike it produce a high amount of electromagnetic pulse field arround, this is what blow the electronics. The best way to prevent is keep your electronics inside a faraday cage, you can metalic mesh wrapp the outside of a plastic boxe and connect it to good grounding point in the vessel. (microwave ovens are no safe because indirect and share ground). Sorry for my bad English and good luck to Plukky
Seriously love you guys. Two beautiful humans out there being beautiful, so simple and so needed. God willing I cross your paths some day out there on the blue. Peace.
Best podcast ever people! Plakkanos is the coolest dude! Top stuff! Thanks James.
I know how this feels my boat got messed up during hurricane Irma and ended up on ft Myers Beach damaged and it was very difficult. I had no money and completely hart broken. We got it off the beach and back up to st Pete but my health went south so it is still not fixed
Great story. Hollywood blockbuster material. Thanks again James 👏
Love this story only 1/3 through. Tenacious sailors keep theirselves together. Christmas Eve have to drive. Thanks to you both.
It's not that you have bad luck with boats Plucky, your just hard af on the equipment. Going into danger is practicality anywhere. Your smart to recognize the hazards for you and crew.
Great pod cast James. Two of my favourite characters on CZcams coming to Geyer over shared experiences and both venturing off into new territory. Looking forward to a great year from you two!
Admiral Floppy and his never miss speargun, enamores captain zing bubblehead...you never had a chance James... :)
LOVE THIS !!!! TY for sharing this interview with all of us
How about a podcast on spearfishing. I'd love to hear a beginner's guide on selecting equipment, learning to free dive for it, how to hunt, which fish are best, etc. Thanks. BTW, your series on crossing the Atlantic was fantastic - very creative and fun to watch!
Great interview James. You both literally have hit rock bottom and worked so hard to recover and bloom.
Wow! Fascinating Plucky, what a bloke.
Great interview. followed you both over the years. Really enjoyed the interview. Not sure about electric boats , but happy to be surprised.
"Plucky" is a perfect handle.
Sat here christmas morning with a coffee AND a doobie. A zingaro podcast with Pluckukese as a guest, It doesnt get much better than this. ;) Merry Christmas to your good self and the Zingaro crew. All the best from the UK
I did the same thing to my body by finding the longest and steepest hill and would ride my bike up it and then coast down. I repeated it multiple times every day just to exhaust myself so that I could get the proper sleep. Each uphill section was about 8 miles and it was all up hill with no flat sections. One day I did it 9 times. I also took up trail running as a cross training exercise. I got a natural high when I went trail running but not when I was riding my bike. I'm not sure why I didn't get a natural high on my bike but maybe I did and just didn't know it because trail running is a completely different exercise. As a result of all the exercise, I became a chick magnet.
I worked on building two 62 foot cement hull sailboats in 1974 in San Diego. The prize was a crew position on an around the world sail. 10 months into the work the owner suffered a heart attack. I pulled a lot of wire ties to chicken wire the frame in those 10 months. I remember when Plukky came to America to start his boat project. He had to buy a bus ticket from San Diego to TJ to prove he was capable of leaving the country. Fun stuff.
Plucky must be one of the most interesting men alive
Excellent, and insightful. I have been wavering on what Plukky was doing and supporting. Thanks for the interview
Fantastic story James. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Plukky.
This build is so exciting.
Listening to you and other channels talk about overcoming adversity has, I think, changed the way I look outside the box for solutions to problems. Thank You.
Amazing stories…..by Pluky and James….I was hanging on every word….
Great episode guys
Good on you Plukky! Can’t wait to see the build. You and James are awesome!
I've been watching all along ~ good on ya mate ~
Gosh, I remember following live at those times of struggle for Plukky in Australia, i have spent qhite some hours reading about it and tracking the location on GMaps. A royal mess as he was mixing past videos with live updates, sooooo nerve wrecking. And then the Covid odyssey across the Caribbean, nail biting!!
Same with you James, following since Isla del Coco. Both you are by far the most entertaining and real channels out here.
AWESOME podcast with Plukkiles, seriously looking forward the next ones!!
GREAT VIDEO!! One of your best!!
You guys are both so interesting and wealth of knowledge and experience. What an awesome podcast.
Never Give UP !!!!!!
Awesome james and plukkerrrrrr, i just loved this vlog tonight , can't wait for the updates , it's gonna be awesome .
that was wonderful! there is no one like Plucky. He's an amazing human. sooo versatile. I love that he's getting a chance to show his genius now. Cant wait to see the new boat.
Merry Christmas - your the Best Sailing Y-Tubers ever. Wish you both a Merry Christmas and a great new year.
Don't be offended when I say this, I wasn't going to watch this video (it was long and I just don't have that much time) BUT then I did and I'm so glad I did. Plukky, I'm a fellow Aussie and now a fan (#24?). I've seen you before on other videos and I know you're a good egg mate and I am so happy you see you developing your dream boat. I can't wait to see your adventures. Glad you weren't drowned or eaten by sharks/crocs when the boat sank. 😁
Great podcast. I’m so looking forward to anything you two might bring forth.
James and Plucky this podcast was just what I needed to see!
This was great and for Plucky I can hardly wait to see what you get up to with your channel on the build and the design of the new yacht mate.
Have a ripper Christmas guys!
That was the greatest !! I wish we could've heard this story long ago (like during the kick starter)... You both bring such energy to the table , it seemed like the interview (story's) ended to soon...
Merry Christmas ALL !!
James, Plucky you should purchase this stuff to patch a hole it's called "Stay Afloat" the U.S. Coast Guard carries it for vessels in distress. It's pretty amazing. Theres a CZcams video on it if you want to look it up. Personally I think every boat should carry it as Essential Safety Equipment! I will never go out without it! Maybe you could spread the word about it since your famous and have 2 billion subscribers 🤣 but seriously watch the 5 min video on it pretty awesome stuff.
A great thing to keep on board to make a plug is wax toilet rings and felt cloth. Keep up the good work guys, love it, ( Hi Anna )
Love...some of the best pod cast/informative.
Rooting for Mumby venture to be a success. Sounds like a boat I would like a lot.
One of the best BTS episodes so far, thanks.
Love this episode. Wish you both prosper beyond your expectations in 2023.
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY PEEPS !! I trust things are getting a bit better, love that you both have got together one more time before you set off in seperate ways. You work so well together and create amazing and interesting content. Here is too an amazing year for the both of you . CHEERS AND FAIR WINDS Steve h.
I love both of your attitudes about survival. Kudos guys ! ! !
I follow both of you. Three fine captains here. Riveting video. Well. Done.
Epic conversation guys! Plukky is one very interesting dude, so many stories, cheers for bringing this to us James. Wishing you a happy Christmas and New Years.....Safe travels and good health. Bye for now.....Neil
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you both. What an amazing story. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing story Peter! So honest and real. James you are a fantastic interviewer drawing out the details.
Wow that was fantastic, I follow his channel but have always been quite confused as to his story and the past months of videos.....so many questions.
This shed a lot of light on his story.
You do excellent interviews!
Thank you!
this was fabulous to watch. can't wait for the next installment, and to watch plukky's adventures unfold.
We only watch two sailing CZcamsrs and sometimes we get to watch them together!
Mechanical engineering degree,, he ain't no dummy. Totally enjoyed the show. Thanks.
Could listen all day
Outstanding enjoyed the pod cast great job.
Best podcast you have done James I watched some of that unfold but hearing him recount it really put the story in perspective for me as I didn't realize how some things came about....I will be watching whatever plucky does as it will be a adventure forsure
Great stories and inspiration from you both.
Money, money, money is the primary driving force for successful cruising. Plukky and James encountered catastrophic failure because of a lack of funds. You both admirably survived. And now, Plukky is chasing the chimera of electric cruising. I read an interesting article by Andy Schell, describing his cost/electric regeneration analysis regarding propane vs conductive cooking. Propane was his choice. The article is in Sail Magazine.
James mate...thanks for this video. Plukky and Margarida kept me sane through the Coof insanity, and your own adventures have kept me well involved in the sailing dream. We plan to depart May '24. It's great to hear the whole story and with your own experiences thrown in at the same time. Much appreciated, great interview.....
Happy Christmas James; I have really enjoyed your broadcasts over the years
Fond regards
Stuart in Ireland ☘️🎄❤️🎄🎄🎄
good luck and fair winds, Peter!
What a great conversation!
I can’t wait to follow Plukky‘s journey that he’s talking about here! I’m sure he will be documenting everything in his Sailing into Freedom channel so I’m really looking forward to that! He’s definitely got a lot going on and he’s a very interesting character!
I want to hear James sing" so you came from land down under " the Men At work song !
Great interview James.
Excellent stories from Plukky.
Great story, I will be watching. Wish you the best.
You guys bounce off each other so well. I have already wished Peter merry Christmas on his channel and I would like to do the same for you and Anna James. I have very much enjoyed watching your channel for over a year including back episodes.
Brilliant interview
Great podcasts, I’m so glad Plucky is doing the elcano. It is definitely possible to go all electric and he’s the best person to prove it. I can’t wait for it to start
I’ve watched “all” of both of your videos. Both boat loses were sad
What a great interview, I’m glad to know more about your past, but especially about this new adventure which just seems like the dream job and dream life all together and then Greece? Your Luck 🍀 is changing & changing fast, I hope that you’ll stay the same with your personality & integrity in tact…You’re “cheering” for me especially during these times. Thanks to James for doing this, it’s the best interview I’ve seen here, you asked all the right questions too!
If they can make a boat “Plucky Proof”, that will be one tough boat.
What an amazing life story! I miss the beautiful Margarita but totally understand the sacrifices. Peter, I’m looking forward to your successful endeavors.
Well done James, we've met Plukky in some other channels, like Parlay, Delos and on yours a few times, but I think I'll be following him from here on in. I think going into a building channel is going to be interesting
Great episode! I hope to see Plukky when I head back to my little farm on the Greek island of Ikaria in May. I've been a subscriber through all the adventures and misadventures and gave a bit to the kickstarter campaign. Very excited about the whole project and overjoyed to see Plukopolous making it all happen. I stand ready to help in whatever small way I can.
Such an awesome podcast!!! Great job interviewing an extremely interesting "character" : )
Great job guys
James, I love watching you and Plukky together. Your personalities mesh really well. I hope you and Ana, and Plukky as well had a great Christmas holiday! Happy New Year! Missed seeing you in Ft. Pierce, but understand the reality of what you do. Zingaro looks amazing! Best, and Fair winds...
James, this was a great podcast and plucky. Yeah I like watching his channel and yours as well This was really interesting probably one of your best videos in my opinion and you have a Lotta good videos.
Great story. Love you two together.
Great story.
James,
Merry Christmas to You and Anna.
Cheers!
Faithfully,
James
Thanks!
I would love to sit and talk with you both. OK, Water..... In 1976 I crossed the Atlantic from England in a 28 ft Trapper with two mates. Water storage was sparse but we got by with one gallon a day between us. The only legitimate use of fresh water was to make tea and to brush our teeth. Everything else was saltwater, we washed in it, hoping for rain for a rinse, steamed potatoes and carrots in it, washed dishes, everything. We stopped wearing clothes so no laundry (stop it, it wasn't like that!)......Happy Days....Now many many thousands of miles later I know I can survive lots before I abandon ship or set off the Epirb. Aloha, David. ( I know it says Jessie, it's the wife's account!!)
Great interview. I hope you really do the catamaran podcast. I’m excited for the new boat too
