- Check out the WORK OF ART that this boat has become. We are VERY proud to unvail the Oyster 485 after 2 years and more than $50,000. Join Ana as she walks us through the boat, pointing out everything we fixed in Colombia, the upgrades, and artesian improvements we've made. AND, see our plans now for Cape horn and Antarctica!

Hi Anna & James.
That floor...
Can you do a video on how it is constructed.
Have you got all the bungs on strings.
I said in a comment ages ago about the log.. but I will repeat..
The plastic threaded ring can split...
I have suggested to others either tying a line over the log so it can't pop out or make a watertight box around it.. in your case a fibreglass box glassed to the hull with a perspex lid and rubber seal.. similar could be done on the others.
Have you put piezoelectric alarms on all the bilge pumps, available from electronics shops that sell components.
With the water going into that corner.. how about a recessed flat type skin fitting or brass plumbing tank fitting.. then the area can be used as a draining area or when preparing fish etc.. if you drill a hole across the fitting halfway and put in a 5mm stainless bolt, you can put a gauze in there or a little ball of stainless steel pan scourer to stop the bits.
How are you going to heat the boat when you go to where it's really cold.. I have a wood burning stove & gas central heating.. slightly impractical in the Antarctic..
Regards from
Bella 🐈 & Mark,
Sea Prince in the UK.
Oooo !!!... I like your stopper knot !!!
1. Bowline
2. Alpine/Butterfly knot
3. Overhand with a bight
4... a stopper knot with an extra twist... the most underused, but vital knot to prevent a sheet in your prop.
BBQs don't need to be cleaned, they just need to be fired up again. Beautiful job James. I've even already seen you with Plukky.
You and Ana complement each other so well.
Awesome to see you guys again, love Ana giving it a twist with her Spanish and collaborating her Latin side. I’m Cuban and my wife is Venezuelan so you have a great partner James .🎉
Knots
1-bowline( properly tied lol)
2-alpine butterfly
3-overhand on a bite
4-barrel knot
I saw some similar answers... knots are funny because they have so many different names.
Knots after comment...
Nice James! Zingaro looks SWEET! The cabin sold is incredible. It's a new boat, time to make it legendary.
The knots are: 1) Bowline, 2) either an Alpine butterfly or Bowline on a Bight, 3) Poachers Knot, and 4) Double Overhand
The interior is awesome and the floor is incredible. Zingaro is a sweet boat. 🤙
The bowline knot and the stopper knot are the only two I could identify but I'm a newbie so 50% isn't too shabby.
Love how natural Ana has become before the camera...
Didn't she say one N? 🤣
@@daveamies5031 I don't know, but look there... are you satisfied? I trust most anybody else over my spelling, as a general rule.
@@Naturalook 🤣 No worries mate, I wouldn't have said anything if she hadn't made such a deal about in the video, I don't care if people call me David, Dave, Dav, Dan or any of the many other variations I've had over the years, but I have a good friend called Richard who will be very rude to anyone who tries to call him by anything other than Richard, so some people care more than others.
@@daveamies5031 I appreciate the backup. Ana is too cool to alienate...
Lot of only fans experience😂
Really great to see you guys so happy and full of expectation. Even Plucky with his new boat plans too .
Merry Christmas to you all. Let's hope the new year delivers and then some :)
That looks absolutely beautiful all that work has paid off. Stunning!
looked like a bowline, alpine butterfly hitch, figure eight on a bight and the last looked like a stopper twist hitch (I bet you call them by different names, lol)!
Zingaro is matching the beauty and the brightness of your crew mate Anna. Great to see everyone together.
Thank You James for doing the things that help keep that beautiful boat looking awesome.

The boat looks spectacular, congratulations on bringing the old Girl back to her younger days and better! Would love to get some of your contacts for work as we are currently in Santa Marta and I'm wanting to get some of my cushions re-done as well as some stainless and varnish work. Thanks!
The interior looks perfect!

Hey James, great episode bro and man what an epic epic adventure is comin your way. The boats looks absolutely next level bro, That teak floor is a KO! Anyhow take it easy, btw, my project is still lit...safe travels
I think I was the first person to suggest to go around South America before you crossed over to the Pacific last time. Your floors look like a finish carpenter did his master work. They are awesome looking!
Awesome video and wonderful boat. It's lovely to see you all again.
I have no clue about the name of the knots 😳 and at the moment I have no chance in trying to join your wonderful tour but hopefully one day soon. I wish you the very best🤞🙏 ✌❤🍀 🌬⛵
Looks Fantastic!!!
Great editing James!
Merry Christmas to you both,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year+
Hey James, Congratulations on all the beautiful wood work! Far as the knot's go. I have no clue. However I do know those sticker's are Bad Ass!!! Merry Christmas to you & yours! Been with ya from the get go. Be with ya till the end!
Nice job on the floor. Looks great. 🎉
Very nice! If you ever need an extra hand, I’m ready to Sail again!
Aloha James, I am glad you went with the davits and retained the staysail, you will need it. Here on the Big Island we have a 'Kona Low' approaching bringing very strong South winds for the next couple of days. Both volcanoes have stopped and we have snow on the mountain. Merry Christmas.
Good to know!! With no volcanoes blowing poison I'm ready to go back to the island I love the most!
James, I have followed you for several years, I believe in you, but publishing a scheduled?🎉. What are you thinking?
I love her energy level.
And her English is improving.
Congo Rats on ship building and improving social opportunities.
Sounded better when I thought it, than it does after typing it, but it was meant well!
Wish I was going with you and crew!❤
Very nice boat and Anna
That floor is freaking BEAUTIFUL
Hello ya'll, Bowline, Alpine Butterfly, Half-inch with a bight, the last one looked like a figure-eight with an extra half-inch or surgeons knot on top to give it more size. I wish I could go with on this voyage but I can't walk very good, no sea legs or wind. When the going gets tough, just heave to and have a cup. I like your choices on the boat, James. She is a beauty now. Be Merry and a good new year to you all. Marlin Spike Steve
It is awesome as you say!
If you got all of that done for$9300. That’s amazing. Great job. I did a lot of projects done in Panama, at the Pedro Miguel Boat Club. Sure do miss that. Able to buy lots from the duty free Ships Chandlery. But you did VERY well. Congrats. And fair winds on your new adventure around S A.
looks great
Hey James, please share with your viewers, there are no such thing as stairs on a boat. Only ladders. Nobody goes down a ladder face first. It's really similar to Three Points contact on a boat free for the boat and one for you just like going down a set of stairs. It's dangerous for people to think that boats have stairs, unless you're on a 900 ft boat.
PS Ana is awesome!!
She looking like a new boat well done
44 million pesos = $2.2million US. Seems like a new boat build would have been in order. Love the work 100%. High quality and good choice of materials.
44M Colombian Peso is just a little short of 10000 USD. you used Mexican Peso as conversion.
Dumb mistake on my part. Super deal on well done improvements.
Merry Christmas 🎄🥳🎊🎉🍻🏴☠️
Wow am beginning to like your you tube channel. In terms of content you are technically knowledgeable in the operation of a sailboat and even gave a hands on on things needed to be done while sailing. Not like others who were mostly focus on how good looking his crews was 🤣🤣. Happy sailing.
Hi
I would suggest that you get curtains fitted to port and straboard via a zipper to the bimini. If you are in sunny climes it is good to have...if in bad weather it is also good.. I would also get the compass professionally calibrated . I like your flooring by the way ...very good idea. I think that the deck and washboards can be cleaned up well with Teak Wonder (3 tims of different product : Clenaner, brightener, and nourishment).
James, just cautgh up with you and PLUCKY. Ausome live feed. You really let Peter tell his story. Thanks for that. I will start your channel from the beginnig. Stay tuned for my comments. CONTINUED FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS ...
Merry Christmas and happy new year you yall
Spot on ❤
OMG Oh My Goodness she is amazing. 😍
i remember the old cat and its self destruction man what a difference this boat is. good on you James you deserve it.
Merry Christmas you guys tell plucky to behave out there I have seen him in a while lol❤❤❤
Nice boat!
Hi, great to see all the improvements in your boat, i would be excited as well. A quick question as you prepare to go south into cold climates. Do you have any source of heat on board? It could get pretty chilly. Also, do you have anything to break ice away from standing rigging? Happy holidays and all the best in 2023!
Hi James I’m so proud of you you are one of the strongest sellers you survive so many incidents and you keep going myself I was a seller I like your style keep it up man her u iIn touch with Kim
Sounds amazing! Check out the Pearl Islands in the pacific of Panama before Coiba!
¡Genial!
The boat is beautiful
Peace Love and Hair Grease is the way I say it. Boat looks amazing.
I want to build docks, so someday. I might go sailing. Want a place on the carribean. Just south of Nicaragua
You have to stop in Punta del Este / Uruguay. I will welcome you with the best asado man!
When James first said the boat was getting a new teak deck I assumed it was the exterior deck, as it looks like it could use some maintenance attention. That boat is a midcockpit model (I think) I am worried that air gap between the dodger and the bimini will allow sea water to flow down the companionway hatch and ruin the beautiful new teak cabin floor. Hope I am wrong.
Bowline, butterfly, overhand on a bight, Grapevine or fisherman's knot. At least those are the climbers terms for these knots.
First knot is a bowline on a bight, the second and third are rubbish knots, being difficult to undo after load comes on them, fourth knot is a stopper knot.
What a Life!
Well done. Especially when considering that seacock that failed and nearly sank her.
1. Bowline, 2. Alpine Butterfly Loop, 3. Overhand Loop, 4. Double Overhand Stopper
Nice ride!
Looking fantastic, don’t sweat this seams, I would so like to join you but life a bit too complicated at this time.
lekker! Bro. Around South America....
1. Bowline, 2. Poacher's Knot, 3. Overhand Loop, 4. Double Overhand Stopper
I see that on that trip you will adapt your cloths to the temperature around you, But I doubt if you will manage to make that route with your sails set in the way you show on this short film. So, based on the information I get, and on the situation I am in, I decided to remain on the observer side of that trip. 😉Fair winds!
