Tried and tested the Brooks Launch 10 road running shoes. I've put these shoes through their paces on intervals, tempo and hills sessions to see how they perform. I've taken them offroad onto the trails on the track wet and dry roads to get a feel for how they hold up to the elements!

Always been tempted by the more budget Brooks shoes, however, I have no idea of the differences between the Launch, Revel or Trace - apart from the heel to toe drop being different...I have no idea.
They’re surprisingly good! I haven’t tried the other two however, from looking at the website the Launch is the entry level speed shoe. Trace is entry level cushion and Revel is entry level for responsive shoes. Having not tried them I can’t give a full overview. However, from the website that looks to be what they’re going for.
I've been using the Revel 6 as my tempo shoe. It's definitely the stiffest shoe I have, it was kind of hard on my legs getting used to it but it doesn't bother me anymore. The quality of it seems totally fine, I expect it to last just as long as my other shoes. What I like about it is that it does not ever feel mushy, the harder I slam my feet into the ground the more bounce I get from it. I don't know that I'll repurchase but I am getting a lot of use out of them. The traction underfoot is also really good.
Any opinions on Altra Running Shoes?
Not my own as I haven’t used them myself. However, I have a few mates who run Ultras that absolutely love them!
By long run how many miles/km do you mean? I'm thinking on using this on my 16km (10miles) run but no more than that since I dont trust the lack of cushioning.
When I say long run, in my mind I’m thinking at least 10 miles. I’ve ran 24 miles comfortably in these and the cushion held up really well!
