    I got the one next one to this at 8 levels and I'm seeing gains with 2 weeks use and I sweat like a dog i mean i been boxing for years and I sweat the same amount as 2 hour cardio workout and I do only 30 minutes on the TTG, I LOVE MY TOTAL GYM.

      I got the G3 also and it's great but the wheels seem like their shedding little bits of material and a tiny chunk is missing out of the guide area of one. It's like a soft rubberish feel to it. I think it helps keep the board from derailing like the hard plastic ones do at times but their louder and may not hold up long term. I only have a month in on this thing so I'm a little worried.

    Thank you so much for showing that the footboard & the weight bar attachment.
    This is everything I needed to know that I couldn't find anywhere else. Plus, you mentioned the smaller size & lighter weight, which is a selling point for people in a smaller space or weaker beginner!

    I was driving home the other day and saw one of my neighbors' garage was open and he was working out on his Total Gym. I might have a lot of neighbors with Total Gyms without realizing it.

    This actually looks like a nice model for the price range. Another great video. I started with a Weider Body Shaper that attaches to the door knob, some rope with hand and foot handles/straps. Back in the day I lost 83 lbs with that thing! Then I found a Total Gym 3000 that was barely used for $250 CAD, It came with every single accessory there could be. Manuals, VHS tapes, dip bars, weight bar, wing attachment, etc. Then I found another TG 3000 for $200 CAD that was also mint as new, but without all of the extras. I upgraded the rollers on one, and ended up selling one of them because of space. but then a few years later I found a TG Platinum Plus with all the books, manuals, attachments, DVD's also in mint shape for $300 CAD. Again, barely used. I sadly sold the TG 3000 again because of space. I am in my 6th week of getting back at the TG after a bad fall/back break incident. And then, just the other day, I found yet another TG, the Fit Plus in Blue. He had only used it twice, and it came with everything including the ab crunch attachments, the weight bar, the large squat stand (which is amazing compared to the old small one), the wing attachments, dvd's, manuals, books, etc. This one was $800 CAD, and local to me. I worked out on it for the first time yesterday, and what a difference. Now I do have the space to keep the Platinum Plus. And now my wife is interested in using the Fit Plus, and my two sons want to use the Platinum Plus. My two daughters are coming around a bit as well. Nothing wrong with starting with the cheapest, and working your way up over time. The hard part is sticking with it and being consistent. I speak to myself first.

    I was going with the “GR8Flex SBG” but the lower price and wt. bar option won the day as my 1st SBG. I have a $ 10 / month gym membership for HD wt trading for my legs and any aerobics needed. For my needs and budget of a 70 yr senior citizen this is the best bet to get my feet wet for a home gym and using a SBG cable machine. Also going to do a non std. wt. training protocol that SBGs design really lends itself too. Thanks for the great info. Looking forward to your future postings and SB gym-ing at 71 years of age, - all the best !!’ PS TG Padded Squat Stand / Toe bar Combo is 1st add-on due to your review !!!

I'm 53 and I've been sedentary for too long now, and I can't wait for a simple way to start incorporating fitness into my life. Just watching the various workouts that you do as you talk is informative and inspirational. I'll definitely start with one of your beginner videos. Thank you!

    Wanted a Total Gym for a long time but found the price prohibitive. No idea they made less expensive models until I ordered this a week ago and it just arrived. I got this to complement my hiking and yoga with muscle strength. Plus, it gives me another indoor exercise option for winter.

    I started with the Apex G3 at the beginning of the pandemic. It's a great unit. Even though the maximum weight is only 300 pounds, I was using mostly resistance bands rather than weights. I upgraded to the XLS so I can now add an extra 200+ pounds on the weight bar. Some exercises just work better with plates rather than resistance bands. I still think the best bang for your buck is the G5, which has a 375 pound max. On a side note, I really hate how the different units have a different number of levels. They should just make them all 10 or 12. I find it irritating that the XLS only has 6 levels. I often find that a particular level is a little too hard and the next lower level is a little too easy. So, I have to either put some pieces of wood underneath the unit or add some external weight to the weight bar in order to get the correct amount of resistance.

    • @Vlfkfnejisjejrjtjrie
      @Vlfkfnejisjejrjtjrie Před 3 lety +2

      Putting a piece of wood under the unit is a good idea for a minor lift. I think you're on to something! Im going to try and diy or find a couple of u-shaped collars I can place under the adjustable end. Thanks for the knowledge! I have an XLS too and never thought of that.

    One advantage this provides is an inexpensive entry into the Total Gym world. If people are tentative about spending greater money for the Fit or other higher end models they can try this for a very small investment. If they like it and feel they will stay with it, they can always move up to one of the higher end models knowing from experience it will be money well spent.

    Thank you for a great video! I just stumbled across your review and I'm glad of my purchase. My wife and I purchased the G5 model almost a year ago. The same as the G1 with a few more bells and whistles. I upgraded to a larger squat stand, as well as picked up the ab crunch and a few other accessories. I was surprised that the G1 doesn't come with the rubber mat to keep the TG from sliding on hard surfaces? Nonetheless, a great machine. Thank you for your dedication in creating content for home fitness!

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Před 2 lety +2

      Sounds like a solid set up you have with the G5. I know people have mentioned about the sliding being an issue. If you have a "farm and Fleet" type store, a great and cheap investment would be a "stall mat" basically it's like a high quality gym flooring you can get cheap. You can just get a certain size and cut what you need.

    I used to own the old 1000 model for over 20 years. This reminds me of it. It was great as long as you took care of it. You'll have to change out the wheels every now and then as the bearings aren't as high quality and tighten the bolts sometimes, other than that it was bullet proof.

    Can you do a video on the resistance levels of the Total Gym? Basically I am wondering what percentage of your body weight you are lifting at each resistance level/angle of the tower and the mechanical advantages of the angles and the pullies. I have the Total Gym Fit Select and I seem to remember one of the exercise cards that I received with the unit having some information similar to this but I have misplaced it. I really appreciate your channel and all of the great information that you provide. Thanks.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Před 3 lety

      I will look into that. I wouldn't worry too much about the percentage because I think based on a few variables it might not be super accurate. I'll see if I can find that information as you're not the first person to ask that. Thanks for the positive comments and for watching.

It felt different at first, but honestly after a few days using it, I completely don't notice the difference between the FIT.
