- Here's the complete build for a swing out tire carrier on a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe.
I made the swingout from 1/8" thick 2" x 3" rectangular tubing, with 3/16" thick 2"x2" square tubing for the support bracket and stop block.

So how has I worked offroading both my buddies say that I won’t handle the bouncing around from offroading but that looked pretty solid to me and I’m temped to build it my self just to show them it can
Hi Josh, thanks for checking out the video. This build was for someone else so I can’t tell you specifically how it’s held up, I know he enjoys having it done and has come back for me to build rock sliders for him for his offroading, so I’m guessing it’s holding up well.
I have however, built swing out tire carriers for dozens of other offroad vehicle including our own 4Runner and this design has held up great for offroading. You should totally build it and show them!!
Oh yeah that’s still a looooong way. Maybe a bit down the road, for now I tend to stick to the custom work with the truck at my shop. Have a great rest of the summer. Hope your weather has been great so far

Where in texas are You? That carrier looks sick. And a lot better than those tire hitch carriers I see online. I've bèn looking Into possibly buying one for my z71 burban. GREAT Video by the way. If I knew how to weald I would definitely try this...but I don't. 😆

Thanks for checking out the video Fernando. I’m not sure how I’d be able to accurately cut the steel and weld it to properly fit into someone’s frame/bumper. There’s a lot of measuring to make sure if fits properly

Hi Arnie. Thanks for checking out the video. Yes I’ve made a lot of these for others. I’m about 1.5 hours southwest of Houston Texas and would need your truck to make it. The exact price depends on the features you want (hinge, latch, finish, etc) but generally about $1000+ to have me make it and install it so it’s all ready to go

Hey, thanks for checking out the video. I can make bolt on versions for 4Runners/Lexus’ (making one next week) but I’m not sure I could make the whole thing for your Tahoe. Anything is possible of course and I imagine I could make the swing arm and send you the brackets to have someone weld (or maybe bolt) them in.

@@xSILENTNEMESISx yeah man you too. I’m actually making a hitch carrier for a gentleman soon. Double shear hinge for a 5th gen 4Runner. I have all the parts, I just have to fit it in.
@@OffroadGrind now if you can use the measurements for the tahoe and weld the hitch to it...ill buy the set from you...really impressed with the work and id rather invest on a hard earned project..
