Ok. Gin, that last item in the wrap up, is almost certainly a "brass". The "clerk" would check off that name and give employee his "brass" (with his/her assigned number on it. Employee puts it in his/her pocket (or wherever, and enters premises for work that day. Occasionally, an office "clerk" would randomly "spot-check" unannounced "crews"/job locations calling out the employees names one-at-a-time, and the employee had to answer " here!" or "present!" and physically show the "clerk" his "brass". The clerk would check off his/her name on the list, and so on. If someone is missing SOMEBODY in the group had BETTER know where he/she IS, and WHY he/she is in another location. The clerk MUST go verify (and physically FIND that person)... -same routine: name, brass number (with a note on the checklist as to where the employee was found, and why that person was in that location, and NOT in the assigned location. Finished "crew checklists" were then turned in to the office, for HR, company officers, foremen etc. to peruse. This kept employees from wandering off, jumping the fence to cross a road/street to "get a beer", or "extended lunch, etc. It was ALSO, very VITAL in catastrophic events, so that personnel managers, police, firemen and rescue teams (etc.) could verify QUICKLY their probable location(s) onsite, if a catastrophic event happened (fire, explosion, poisonous gas, etc.). ... Doug, you never cease to amaze me with the wealth of knowledge you share. I’ll bet having those badges in brass also helped ensure they survived in a catastrophe, much like military dog tags. I was excited to get those things with writing and be able to research them. I don’t think I’ve ever had that many items like that from one spot before.
Hi Gin, so nice to see you! Not sure why I didn’t get notified of this video, maybe I missed it? I love that you found something that you couldn’t find an image of on the internet! It is a one of a kind, just like you, both treasures! Thanks for taking me along 🤗
Looking forward to seeing your next hunt in metal detecting it's inspiration to me get out there and dig and learn more about these historical sites, Thank You Gin.
I was just wondering if you ever found many mason jar lids around those old home sites. Then bingo you pull out an oldie! Just a word of caution when detecting around those mast trees, like oak, beech, hickory, walnut, etc. I have caught copperheads as early as the first week in February in SW Va. They tend to congregate under those trees because mice and chipmunks scavenge for any remaining nuts and they will lay in ambush for them. They disappear in leaf litter like that. So be careful! Another great video!
It’s good to see you back. Been missing your videos. I am looking forward to seeing how the XP Deus 2 works out for you. I have been debating getting one. I am from Tennessee and hunt local as well so it will be a good comparison from your hunts to mine.
It’s great to be back, Tony. I’m hoping to be far more knowledgeable with it by the time I come back from Digstock in March. There should be several seasoned Deus users there for me to soak up knowledge from. It did well on the first couple of hunts so far here in TN. I did already order some Grey Ghost headphones though, because the ones it comes with are absolutely murder on the ears.
Congrats on the Deus II purchase!! Did you consider the Manticore? Coin a-DIG-tion satisfied! Like that large buckle too! Interesting company badge. Like you're supporting small businesses. Awesome to see you have switched over to the D2 you'll love it once you learn that machine I have bought 2 of them an have been swingin the D2 since February 10 of last year. To help you out a little your buckle will mostly be made of brass or iron because copper is strong enough to hold up an would where out in no time. Maybe before you hit the beach you could hit me up on the settings that you will help you out.
I’m looking forward to getting some more hunts in and getting used to the sounds. I’m hopefully I’ll be able to adapt to it quickly. Especially looking forward to taking it to the beach and would love to hear your thoughts on beach settings.🍀
I recently found a jar top like that I believe it was a Boyds genuine ceramic top ...really heavy duty late 1800s similar ones selling on ebay 25 dollars and higher

Thanks Cole. It’s really good to be back out in the field. I’ll probably kick off my first road trip of the season soon. Time to give this new machine some exercise!🤩🍀

Thumbs up, My Girl Gin is back 🥰
Happy to be back! Thanks for popping by!🤗❤️🍀
Hi Luck Gin welcome back glad to see you are back and glad your feeling better about things, good thinking about emailing you for items, that buckel interested me perhaps someone may need it to restore their bag or some leather company may need it good luck on that great finds again welcome back
Thank you - glad to be back.🙂 I think the buckle was made for bags like this - the tongue is backward, so a really unusual thing.
@@LuckyGin your welcome people do look for those hard to find items you're very observant to notice things keep it up Gin
Wow, I wouldn’t have guessed. I dug up several of those, but all badly damaged.
@@LuckyGin I'm sorry it said Boyds Genuine Porcelain lined cap..looks like they are selling for 20 dollars now some Zinc as much as 75
Looks fun, I've heard of gold someplace if you want to go
The mystery cap item looks like an old radiator cap off an old car, or possibly a tractor. Great day of digging and cool finds! Glad to see you back in action and putting out videos again! Good luck with your new detector! Great video!
Thanks Cole. It’s really good to be back out in the field. I’ll probably kick off my first road trip of the season soon. Time to give this new machine some exercise!🤩🍀
@@LuckyGin heck yeah! That’s the spirit to have! 😎 It may take you a few hunts, but you’ll get the new machine down and find some cool finds! I switched from Garrett to Minelab back in August, and it took me a few hunts to figure it out. You’ll get it! Best of luck to you!
Keep digging and learning.
