I have used Cherrydale French for a few years. I’m also a Spanish speaker and do it in Spanish. In order to be more fluent I have taken French myself recently and it has helped me to speak to the kids in French more.

I'm francophone and use this program with my kids (who refuse to speak the language 😅). And it's really great! But still to this day, I have no clue what a French folk song entails haha! We have a few traditional French Canadian songs but they're definitely not child friendly

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been so intimidated when thinking about teaching my kiddos a foreign language! This was very encouraging thank you! I’d love a video on maybe the day to day what that looks like with school, homemaking, and outdoor time- I know you’ve done a dil in the past but they’re so helpful and always practical for me ❤

I love this idea. Thank you very much for sharing it. I did not know how to start teaching my child English but this method seems to so sensible, like everything else in CM pedagogy.

I love teaching foreign language! I am a french substitute teacher in our local school as well as homeschool my kiddos. Something to think of doing when getting beautiful livibg books from the library is to see if you can get a couple of the living books in french (or foreign language of choice). We live in canada and our libraries always have a french section with many of the same books as the english section.

Thank you so much! This is something I have been struggling with. I chose Spanish, thinking it would be the most useful. However, I feel the same way you do about learning so much vocabulary doing three years of Spanish in school and not even being able to form a sentence. Almost thinking that maybe I should switch our language to something I have a little more excitement toward.

Hi Larissa! This video is perfect timing as my task tonight was to research language learning resources! Your advice was very helpful, thank you. Do you know if the CMEC have resources (folk songs etc.) for Italian? ☺️

Have you tried Alice Ayel yet?! CMEC recommends her in the guide and we pay the $5 a month for her website and it’s spectacular! She also has weekly live calls where you can pop on and talk and practice your French with her and others. There weren’t any kiddos last time we went on so we just kept our video and sound muted and listened. But she draws and tells a story in French and my kids have made so much progress vs the “speaking French” book. I wanted to love it but I had such a hard time with it. Just wanted to share in case you haven’t tried it yet, I think you will love it!

We are living overseas and just Google translate all of the time. However, it is a wonderful tool that can help with pronunciation from a native speaker. After writing the word or sentence in Google translate, you press the 🔊 icon. And it will translate perfectly, as if a native speaker is talking to you. We translate books! And listen to the correct pronunciation.

Just want to point out that Google translations are often incorrect and simply literal translations.
My parents and family (all from Mexico) had a good laugh all the times I've tried to speak and text in Spanish with them based on Google translations. As a first generation Mexican American, I was properly scolded and told to just ask them next time I don't know what/ how to say something..

I've found DeepL translate is far more accurate!
