Wow!! Ive never seen this!! This must be near the end of 1984 early 1985? Never seen Midge so jacked up, just awesome!! Billy using OSCar I think, really cool to hear Loves greatest adventures live!
Despite their utter disregard for attire in this performance, they kick ass. Ure's vocals are incredible! What a bunch of great musicians. Thanks for another great upload!
I'm sure this is the particular show of the Tube when Geldof phoned Paula Yates to find out who was on as he wanted to put out a record for charity. Midge spoke to Geldof on the phone they formed Band Aid and the rest is history.
ScottishTeeVee - Sorry for the late reply. I would have to drag out my tapes, and hook up my VCR. I have an interesting program about Madness. I always recorded Ultravox, R.E.M., and Madness.
I read that 'good ole Bob' pilfered the funds. His old band Boomtown Rats had what one hit and he's worth approx 235,000,000 British pounds? how can that be while Midge is worth maybe 20,000,000?
@@paranormalpendle5920 I checked for you, throughout the full series of The Tube, Ultravox only appeared on the show twice. This performance on Nov 4th 1984 and on October 26th 1984, which I have also uploaded and there is a link to that video at the very end of this video. Midge Ure appeared on the show on two other occasions, solo interviewed.

I’m obsessed with Ultravox this week for some reason so glad this popped up. Nice one🥰
Glad you like it!
Good seeing the heavily modified MiniMoog and Billy using an OSCar instead of the Odyssey
Thanks for watching and commenting Dave
I prefer the Odyssey, like a strangled oboe
@@rachelar I could never afford an Odyssey, but I do own an OSCar

Absolutely amazing. Thanks so much for the video. I am going to catch Midge on his US tour this year.
Billy is still the heart beat of the ultravox
Midge Ure is the Alan Partridge of rock music
Was this the moment in history that brought us the pony-tail, which still survives in some IT departments to this day?
😂
first thought it was Status Quo :-)
David Seaman was a fan
No…the ribbon makes this a special ponytail. Harks back to days of ponytails old.
Too funny and true
I've not seen a better quality production of my favourite group from the 80's. Thank you!

So glad you enjoyed this Marcio
@@ScottishTeeVee I really did! ✊🏻🍻
Sadly the audience just weren’t ready for that, like Marty Mcfly in Back to the future! Brilliant performance, I must have missed that at the time.
Thanks for watching and commenting Sean
I've seen more movement in a constipated owl.
I could watch Midge Ure/Ultravox videos 24/7 and never get bored.....greatest band ever and Midge is the reason!!! Thanks for posting this!!
So basic 😅
Grandissimi Ultravox...!!!!!!
Amazing. Utterly brilliant. Thankyou so much! Good memories!

You could be right Andy, anyway, thanks for watching and commenting
Geldof saw the show and contacted Midge straight after, talked him into doing something for Africa. The rest became history.
Oh wow, Billie is playing the OSCar here! I knew he played one at some point but I’ve never seen it.
Simply BRILLIANT!!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting Scott🙂
If I should be so bold but I LOVE "Love's Great Adventure" This is fantastic!
8:11 dancing with tears in my eyes
Great performance from ULTRAVOX.
Even now? I d say it was John Foxx still carrying on that classic sound
Absolutely wonderful!
Im glad you enjoyed it
fucking beautiful. no other word, thank you for posting STV😇
Thanks for watching and commenting, I'm so glad you found and enjoyed this video.

Really good perfoman , Vienna top live
So glad you enjoyed this
I recorded this on VHS, too. I still have the tape.
Is there any other interesting stuff on the tape?
ScottishTeeVee - Sorry for the late reply. I would have to drag out my tapes, and hook up my VCR. I have an interesting program about Madness. I always recorded Ultravox, R.E.M., and Madness.
@@ItIsJustJudy Does the tape still looks good picture wise?
ScottishTeeVee - Let me try to find it. I sure hope I labeled it.
@@ItIsJustJudy Let me know if you find it and what else is on the tape
Emozioni forti
I am Midge Ure of the Clan Ure, there can be only one!
Rip Chris Cross. That staccato triggered synth bass be echoing in other worlds
Midge is such a fine guitarist.
Midge is the best at everything 😍😍
The best!!!!
Great work!! And Criss Cross awesome!
Can't believe Chris Cross hair, man what was he thinking??? Anyway, great gig!! Vienna is not a easy song to perform live. Cheers
Omg this video. I love it. Thank you CZcams.
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for uploading this! Great quality!

Billy Currie was looking real good on this one.❤
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Mr Ure looks like a high seas pirate, good performances though😄
1:53 WHOOPS!!
Лучшие! Всегда! Навеки!
A night in music and fund raising history...bob geldof waiting on the phone to talk to midge about band aid.
I read that 'good ole Bob' pilfered the funds. His old band Boomtown Rats had what one hit and he's worth approx 235,000,000 British pounds? how can that be while Midge is worth maybe 20,000,000?
Never seen this, thanks for sharing :-)
Is this the performance after which Sir Bob contacted Midge Ure about Band Aid?
Christ, I've just had a horrible man-pony-tail flashback. What were we thinking?
Yes.
Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it.
That crowd was shocking....
By 1984, even I thought of Ultravox as very mainstream, just not what the audience of this show wanted to see
As a Geordie I'm ashamed by this. I'm also ashamed I wasn't there as I couldn't get tickets.
Fab
Thanks Martin
I was there
What was the deal, did you get in for free or have to pay, was it ticketed or first come first served?
OK. But I'll take Talk Talk over all others anytime. 😅
Is this the show that he took a phone call from Bob Geldof about making a Christmas single. It’s a shame nothing came of it......
Was this their only appearance on The Tube ?
I seem to remember they appear live on the show more than one time, they were certainly on the show a few times, interviewed etc.
@@ScottishTeeVee Is there any footage?

Monitor issues for Vienna? Off on the first line, and a few in the verses, then Nails the chorus.
Thanks for watching and commenting Colin
Billy Currie sure would have been better in Tangerine Dream . Higher level music.
Who dances with tea in their eyes?
🤣
I do, but only on a Friday 😂
I love ponytails on men. It's the hairline traveling backwards that is the turn off.
I think the audience were lobotomized…
Why did they perform Vienna..? I love Ultravox but hate that song…!
