  • In this video I explain the difference between the regular half pirouette and the reverse pirouette, the uses and benefits of each, and finally the progressive steps and considerations needed to learn a half pirouette safely on the high P Bars. I hope you find the video useful!

Blind change and kasamatsu would be good skills to cover

Good suggestions, however I probably won't cover those skills just because there is already a wealth of info on them online. These days, in order to justify taking the time to film and upload one of these videos, it needs to be on a topic which hasn't been widely covered already, which is why I don't upload very frequently anymore. I recommend Lee Wools video on Kaz vault and there's loads of vids out there on blind drills!

Why is fig looking at removing the reverse pirouette in the next code?

Not confirmed yet but in the draft of the new code I saw it had been removed. I think it's most likely because it is very rarely used as an actual skill which would contribute towards start value; anyone who needs to include pirouette in their routine for value would almost always do the simpler forwards pirouette. It probably won't affect routine construction or training at all though because people will most likely still use reverse pirouette to move backwards along the bars even if it isn't an actual coded skill :)

@@learngymnasticsonline5341 it's in the Australian advanced program as a compulsory routine. I'll never forget judging it at nationals and most of the boys fell off at the reverse pirouette. That undergrip handstand takes no prisoners.
