    I use one of those sponge little disposable paint brushes to clean inside that edge. They are a sort of a wedge black sponge on a stick. Come in a bag of several at any hardware store

    For cleaning the inner lip where everything seems to collect, I take a sponge paint brush & run around that area after every use (especially while the steam is in hot liquid form). While fresh, the tapered sponge fits under the lip very efficiently & pushes everything out. It also absorbs most, if not all, the excess moisture that creates the odor to begin with!!!

    I just recently bought an instant pot. Since then, I’ve used it consistently. Had no second thoughts giving up the crock pot. Having an extremely fast, yet juicy and tender meal in less than hour is awesome. Had me hooked at the first meal.

    @ichee1970 Před 6 lety +3

    Instead of a commercial non-toxic cleaner, you can also use a solution of half and half of lemon juice or vinegar and water diluted together, with a drop of liquid handwash dishsoap. This is useful for the wiping down of the exterior of the Instant Pot. Follow up with a final wipe-down with a damp-dry microfibre cloth. Finish drying with a clean dish towel if you want to.

    Great idea for the vinegar steam bath. I have only used the vinegar when cleaning the pot in my sink. I have also been cleaning my inner pot with steel wool aka an sos pad. It does not scratch and comes out beautifully every time. Check out the back of the sos pad box for specific uses. I also have two of the sealing rings. I have one to use while the other is being washed.

    I’ve been looking at this cooker quite a lot recently...and the power cooker xl...... I think I will just stay with my newest crock pot type slow cooker. Way less work to maintain. I can appreciate the need for faster meals with the pressure cookers, but I’ve decided that I really don’t need one! I thought I did until I realized that I’m too lazy to deal with the maintenance ..just me sayin.. your video was well done...thank you!

    I used a mildew cleaner, which is a bleach solution, and sprayed it in the pot. Because the stuff is organic, the bleach just dissolved it all off after letting it sit a few minutes, and because the pot is stainless steel, it doesn't corrode.

    I Have been using a metal scrounge and sometimes even cleanser on all my stainless pots and pans for years, and I've done the same with my Instant Pot, however if new and the food is not too badly burnt on even after soaking then you way is easier on the metal. I never knew you could take off the top sealing valve, so I'll have to check in there. Other than that, our ways of cleaning the IP are fairly consistent. I saved this video for a month until I got time to watch it and it really pertained to me as I love my IP, however I don't use it really hard like you do. Nice video, and a very pretty host and demonstrator. BTW One thing you did not do, is remove the little sealing ring and remove that little 1/4" stem as gunk gets in the top of that and you want to make sure the little hole in the middle of the shaft is fully open. Be really careful you don't loose that little sealing ring / washer inside the lid, which is the pressure valve and safety pressure valve all in one............

But I am going to clean it now today with the vinager water mixture. I wonder if that will help get the cooked on crap off the sides of my innerpot. Put a dish rag over the pressure release and that will keep the steam contained, and you with less work cleaning the kitchen afterwards. The Instant Pot really isn't that hard to clean.

    Could you go over that wiping down of the bottom part again please? I think I might have gotten the order mixed up.
