Best Homework ever ! 🌻
Have fun!
On the one hand, I resent being given homework.
On the other, I'm definitely going to do it 😁
This is the good kind of homework :) Have fun!
The Mind Meld plugins are so well thought out. I am using Shape Master all the time now and obviously the mixer is always in the patches but I had no idea about these features.
Yes, calling a fully-featured mixer is just not enough...
I had a play with the node triggers and honestly love it. So great to get off the grid so to speak. But I’d love a way to ignore the first and last node because then it would be a proper sequencer
These modules have so much going on that it's overwhelming, but they're so incredible. This is the exact functionality I've wanted before and it was right there waiting for me to use. Thank you so much for all the work you do explaining these genuinely awesome, in the purest form of the word, bits of software.
Yes, the people behind these modules are genuinely geniuses.
Very helpful, Omri!
Cheers!
Wonderful! Thank you. More content on these mixers and tools is welcomed.
Thanks so much!
Very interesting, thanks for sharing...
Glad you enjoyed it
i've been wanting to ask about this exact thing for so long, thank you for showing us how it works!
Cheers!
I use this feature to automate high/low passes of every channel (as in DJing). Super useful. Thank you!
Yes, that's a great use for it!
very cool
Cheers!
silly me just used it to hook up the MM EQ o_O. Time to up my game and add some melds and unmelds . Great stuff, as always!
Have fun!
Hello, Omri. I wonder if there's a way to trigger multiple mutes/solos in a mixer for a perfect transition. As opposed to manually timing the group tracks with a click. Thank you.
Hi! Yes, you can do this with something like the TriggerBuffer module from ML. It will quantize triggers to your clock.
I am still trying to understand what advantages this method has over pugging the effects in those send channels
Me too, I think it's useful for the eq where you can hook the one module into every channel at once but for one offs with meld it seems silly.
Well, send effects work in parallel on their own channels and not on the source itself. This works for delay-based effects like delay and reverb, but, for example, when you use something like distortion or compression, it might cause phasing issues because of the delay.
@@OmriCohen-Musici appreciate the reply thanks
Omri, I didn't get the difference between this what you showed vs. send. Is it that send is processed after mixer and this can be before? Thanks man for teaching us!!!
No worries :) When using send fx, you actually create a copy of your voice, send it to the fx, and then the result gets its own channel. This works the same in the DAW as well (and in the real world of course). This means that the original audio will not get processed, only a copy of it. When using inserts, you really send the audio itself through the processing, without creating a copy or having another dedicated channel. Using send fx makes sense when using delay-based fx like delay and reverb, but can be an issue when used with distortion and compression, for example. Since you have a copy of your voice on a separate channel, you might get phasing issues because the two channels are a bit delayed from one another after the distortion or compression (or both). I hope it makes sense... A simple test you can do is set a compressor as an insert, and also as a send, use a sine wave, and compare the result from the insert and from the send. You will see that the send channel is a bit delayed.
I clicked so fast. Thank you Omri. Also, I am doing a college project about multimodality in digital media, I would love to interview you if you have time? Let me know! Thank you :)
Thanks! And yes, I would love to participate :) Feel free to email me omri.musicohen(at)gmail.com
Pardon my ignorance but what is the advantage over just inserting fx in the chain?
That's a good question! I guess that it's more useful if you're using groups and send multiple channels through the same processing, but it can also be useful if you have a complex patch that you don't want to disconnect and just experiment with different processing quickly. Oh, and, you have the MindMeld EQ that connects through there :)
