We took City right down to the wire last year and this year we dominated them. Don't get me wrong Ancelotti is a great manager. I just think only a few managers could do what Klopp has done, I think Ancelotti and Poch are the other two managers that could make a decent squad into contenders without breaking the bank. Nice post lad. 👍 The problem in football is ffp has ruined the competition and Carlo has a tough job like Bruce taking his side to the next step. The FFP law has divided the teams from outside the top four to the top ten being another level from the bottom half.
Its almost 3 divisions within the league table and totally unfair.
It all brings a lack of honesty and major favouritism
Every team had a top player 20 years ago. Some more than others of course but Southampton could beat United on any given occasion just by having the genius of Le Tissier.
What can they keep now? Its a disgrace, i used to love the likes of West Ham, Southampton, yourselves bringing top players to Goodison.
The levels of squads brought the "Park the Bus" tactics in too. Boring scrappy games where you see a good battle but less of the top players attributes.
I've watched loads of old English and Auld Firm games lately and realised how much i dont miss football now. Its fake.
This season has all been about VAR and putting City in their place for doing what Man U and Lpool have done for years.
When them sides with Arsenal get to make decisions the game is over.
Its then set in stone for everyone in a game that should be unpredictable.
UEFA now are considering a new system for the champions league based on the last 5 seasons and the likes of us think we can jump to the next level.
Its almost a losing battle without being able to compete with the wages of the top sides.

This is great sports journalism. I feel like I know so much more about Carlo now than before watching this. It's not that Jamie is asking the right questions- although his interview is very sound- it's that he lets Ancelotti speak. There are several times when it seems Jamie is about to ask another question when Carlo decides to add something else, and Jamie just lets him go. That's brilliant. These extra thoughts are sometimes things that all add up and click in a person's mind at the last second and underscore the point they were trying to make. You have to let them go.
And too, what's great about this interview is seeing Ancelotti in his home environment. He doesn't freak out when the girl enters the picture. He's laid back, this is his family, they're doing what they do and he's just being a person talking about what he does.
Hard to dislike this guy. I think Everton are so fortunate to have landed him.

His strengths are in getting the best out of the players he already has available and finding a system that suits them best - which is ideal for international management. He is also known for creating great squad harmony and all the players that have worked with him absolutely love him - and obviously he speaks great English - ideal candidate all round.

This man has the most exemplary record of managing the very best players at the very highest level and being able to not only manage their egos but to coach and get the best out of them while also building a great relationship with them players and gaining their respect, and all of that while also winning all the biggest trophies at whatever team he manages, as a spurs fan I find it very difficult to understand how when we sacked pochettino, which was bad enough decision to begin with that Daniel Levy somehow thought that mourinho was a better option than Carlo ancelotti, this man has won more than mourinho and has a far better record of managing his players without throwing them under the bus when things get a little bit bumpy, but yeah great man, grey manager.

    Message to all Everton fans.
Carlo is one of the most humble people in football even though he is the greatest manager in the world imo.
He was despised by the juve supporters as their manager.
Shafted by players, owners and directors at Madrid, Bayern, Napoli, Chelsea and PSG.
This is because he has no airs or graces or massive ego about him and those people saw that as a weakness.
All he wants to do is build a 5 - 10 year legacy at a club that respects him.
If the Everton owners/directors support him (and no they don’t have go out and buy €100 million mega-stars) he will turn Everton into huge European brand and deliver many trophies to the fans.
As an Acmilan supporter he turned my team into the greatest champions league team of the 00’s (check the stats), precisely what Berlusconi wanted. And no, Milan did not spend mega bucks on players e.g. Kaka and Thiago Silva were bought for peanuts.
And he will do the same at Everton in the 20’s if he is fully supported by players, directors and fans.
This is the greatest opportunity Everton have ever had to win the champions league (Yes for a toffee captain in blue strip to lift the champions league trophy, just think about that) but you might need to give him 3-4 seasons to build his team, depending on finances, players settling in etc.
Just imagine a warm sunny blue sky day in early June in 2023 or 2024, you’re standing on a street in merseyside with pint in hand and tears rolling down your cheeks as the big blue bus drives by with your captain holding that big ear’d trophy, that is in your future.
I wish you all every success in the next few years under Carletto, you have no idea what a wonderful journey you’re all about to embark upon while he is your coach, so get behind him through and bad and don’t mess it up.
