So you build 'em, Liz powers them? 🤣 JK. You guys look like you're having a well-needed good time down there.

I note this feature-packed canoe also has a cupholder about every 6-8 inches!

We were out on the Pamlico river today with your F1 and West Greenland kayaks. Great day. No damage from scooting over submerged barnacle crusted stumps on occasion.

I grabed a cup a coffee and pretend I'm back in Baja. Thanks for checking in with all of us and sharing your adventures down there...Saddly the "shut up Steve," comment made me spit out some coffee...LMAO!!!...Loved you standing up in the bow heading to shore and the teapot find of Liz's was priceless...I'm curious, is the yellow large bag to the other side of the outrigger a sponson to offset the outrigger? Is it really necessary do you think now you have been using it for a while?

Happy to be of entertainment value. The sponson isn’t necessary until you swamp the boat. When that happens without it there there’s absolutely no way to get the water back out. I’ll post a video soon showing that procedure.

A plywood ama would be really good. Think storage, minimal, could design it to splash less into the canoe. How bout a review of dragging the canoe on sand/ rocks, etc. how durable is the finish for that? How bout UV? Review for that? 🙏

At the end of the trip in a couple weeks, I’m gonna do full performance and durability reviews on the boat. That should be coming up here in a couple weeks for me, but because these videos are done a month in advance, it will be about a month and a half for you! You’re absolutely right about the plywood ama for performance.

This was another fun one to follow along to, and pine for Baja! I was just thinking how great more fishing gear info would be and … a few seconds later there it all was. I am going to have to go check out what my “sea fishing” rod and reel are. It’s all probably 50 years old now.
Do you need to buy a fishing license to fish in Baja? Is this the rig that got ‘stolen’?
And then in the same vein as the fishing gear I was wondering about where you were at on the float design and then comes along hints on that too! I was wondering about using a sea kayak as one, that way you could have the option of kayaking as well as canoeing.
Many thanks to you both for everything it takes to make these.

Hey Andrew, yeah that was the rig that got swiped. We haven’t got to the video where that happens yet. Fishing license in Baja isn’t required from the shore but it is required from a boat. I think technically, you probably could use a kayak as an outrigger, but it might make the overall package a little bit heavier than we are willing to deal with.

@@capefalconkayak Thanks for the reply Brian. All boats are trade offs for sure. The kayak as a float idea was to use something that I might want to have along anyway to have that choice. The more I think about it, it's likely that the float would be so compact and light that it would be worth bringing that too so the proa setup was optimized. My Dad built a little 8' catamaran in the 70's that my brother could sail when he was still light enough. The plywood hulls were very light. The first ones were V shaped (like Wharram cat), second version were flat bottomed 'dory' shaped (Richard Woods uses this shape on some of his catamarans) to get more displacement and worked much better. IIRC one of the V ones became the float for a proa he built and worked just fine (although either could be used, so maybe he settled on the dory one). I think the dory one would have been even better. Unfortunately, can't ask Dad any more. The boats are still around, I'd have to get photos from my brother.
I'll be interested in what you come up with.

    Steve, you're drunk, shut up.
Likewise on the sentiment about beautiful fish. I can never keep the smallies. They're too beautiful.
