This is a great idea! Still shows up as $45 for the core box in Amazon now in 2023. I will definitely pick some of these up to use in Rangers of Shadow Deep campaign I will be setting up for my two sons and me!
Thinking about grabbing the starter box since it's so cheap and we might be quarantined soon. I might never get to play it at a tournament level, but it can be fun with a brother or friend.
I discovered Runewars when a flgs was clearing them out. All they had left was some of the expansions for $5 each which I picked up. I went back a few days later and got everything I might want going forward. The base set I got on eBpy for $29.99 wit free shipping. I have no intention of ever playing, I just wanted the cheap mini's. The golems in the expansion set are a different pose and the calvary guys and their horses are slightly different so you have different looking units. All in all, I am happy with purchasing these mini's just to use in other games. By the way, this was all in 2021 that I discovered and bought these. A very good find!!!
I've had my eye on these for a couple of years and, never pulled the trigger on them. I may have to soon! For the price, the quality isn't bad. It looks like the plastic CMON uses for their games. The sculpts are nice, especially if you want to paint someting without a lot of detail.
I remember when this came out at my FLGS, we played Runebound which was fun and thought that Runwars would be...okay, but then it sort of fell off and we had been pulled in by Imperial Assault. By the time I realized it, The RPG based on the game came out, which I bought to cannibalize for my FATE rpg
Yeah, we've painted up a bunch of elves and are working on some skeleton archers. No problems to report, but since the minis are pre-based on a small circular base, it sort of prevents us from using our standard 32mm bases. Plus the elves are pretty large compared to GW elves.
@@oldhammered No biggy for me I used to work for GW and as a result now have a severe dislike for their games, products and especially their business practices. Though I would like a couple of the old FB books. 3rd ed I think was the big ugly orange book? Pretty much the last time the game was at all tactical imho.
For the game itself no but the minis are good and useful for DND or other tabletop rpgs, so yeah buying it for the game pointless buying for the minis not so much
I still have the original coffin box version of the Rune Wars board game. FFG had some great stuff back in the day.
The mini's would be great for D&D.

I just picked one up for £30 online, just for Frostgrave minis!
The core box keeps dropping, might have to pick it up now. Great video!
Im voting you up for mentioning GWAR!

they might work for parts for another franchise we know of and of course D&D type minis
they are nice to paint for any table top games
It's 2020 now and the prices are still all over the place :)

Kenneth Holbert Descent actually has a lot of great miniatures for all kind of DnD and other rpg games
What's the name of the rpg?
i just got 2x this many for same price from amazon as well, really goor prices on them right now
Nice unboxing. I really lean on getting some of those Reanimates right now.
The red guys remind me of the Skorne from Hordes/Warmachine.
These look pretty cool! How did they scale with the Tehnolog minis?
Hi Maxwell. The Runewars minis look to be more or less in the standard 32mm range, while the Tehnolog figures are mostly 54mm and 40mm, give or take.
carrion crawler looks like a undead purple worm to me
Hey! I noticed that Throne Room Map! I have that same one!
Don't know why I just don't find the miniatures of this game pleasing to the eye.
Have you tried painting them yet?

Sorastro’s painting has some great tutorials on painting these
Skirmish Wargames could you use a hobby knife to remove them from the pre-molded bases?
Runewars failed? Shocking
Ive always stayed away from dead games.
A game is never dead if you've got friends to play it with, but i doubt someone as negative as you knows much about that :)
@@drinkycrow705 It's a term, a game is dead once the developer stops supporting/making it. I'm just saying "I" don't buy into dead games.
