Somehow, Warwick's captain finally found back his mojo (I know he can do it!). If only this was true in the last game.... Anyway, Sophie Hobbs is gone, for you who'll miss the Brummies accent. What a brilliant competition! I think Rudd was almost as quick as Monkman, and both teams had good dynamics. Am betting Monkman's reading of "Those who... sword" will have ended up as a phone message somewhere. And that doggy mascot's sweet. :)

It would be fun if the BBC came up with a creative or theatrical special where they invited back some of the more popular team members for a looser UC format - imagine the technician turning the spotlight on an impromptu performance by Monkman, conducting Verdi or re-enacting a historical moment.
An 'interdisciplinary' programme involving talented students from some of the country’s arts and music schools could work well too. If done rightly, it could be a way of popularising ’knowing’, and of bringing creativity and skilled artistry into the picture as well…in this age of…(and so on).
P.S. All this without touching the original UC, of course.

Have watched old UCs for years and for this one had the greatest number of questions I could answer. They were all questions for Wolfson College, whereas don't think I could answer a single one of the questions for Warwick University. So, not surprising that losing/winning is to some extent decided also by luck.

Good match, but Monkman made a couple critical errors that could have done him in. Of course one was the interruption guess at the end that diminished their lead from 50 to 45 (meaning Warwick could have won if there were time for 2 full starter/bonus sets instead of just playing for a tie). The other was answering the music bonuses way too quickly while playing with a substantial 4-5 question lead at the halfway point. From the beginning of each piece he took only a total of 20 seconds to answer all 3 bonuses, when he could have easily used up another minute+, which would have taken away at least one starter opportunity from the end of the match.
First one is fair enough, the second point is just poor sportsmanship

I disagree. He was very helpful to Monkman. He's just not very exciting.
He looks bored but to call him absolutely useless is clearly absurd. In every contest, he has provided no small number of correct answers.
