- Lucy, an incredible 15-year-old blind and neurodivergent pianist from Yorkshire, plays the stunning Bach 'Prelude in C' alongside her teacher Daniel, for a 6,000-strong audience at the Royal Albert Hall.

Bach would have cried had he lived to hear her play this composition. Tears of amazement. Tears for a young lady who has been simultaneously cursed with blindness and blessed with a soul overflowing with beauty in her music.
Daniel is a wonder himself. He must be very intelligent to have the patience and kindness he does for his students. Bravo Daniel Bravo. Without Daniel Lucy wouldn't be playing like she does.

The thing that warms me the most is that she now appears to have an understanding that she is communicating with the world outside herself. They love her, she loves them back.
It's simply and elegantly beautiful.
She is having a conversation with you and you're listening to all of her feelings! She isn't even technically precise. She's just pure expressive emotion.
When you see the rest of the orchestra with their sheet music in front of them, it really hits home just how incredible she is. To be able to play like that at 15, without ever seeing a single note written down, is just phenomenal. We are so lucky to be alive today to witness it.

She is sensitive to sound and the applause, even though she appreciates it, bothers her. She probably heard the size of the auditorium before she started playing. That she uncovered her ear, overcame her discomfort and took a smiling bow to acknowledge the audience is a testimony to her courage. Very well done, Lucy.
For some disabled people the disability that they have actually removes some of the mental/emotional we have as people allowing gifts and greater expressions of who we can be. Lucy is a staggering example of what can happen when a person is gently guided by the right mentor.

In your personal opinion only. I am also a lifelong pianist, seven decades now, tutored by my classically-trained pianist mother. And my opinion is that she is exceptionally talented. And Daniel Bath, Lucy's piano tutor since she was three, has stated that she has a depth of understanding of the music and talent for piano that he has never seen in his career.
You are entitled to your personal opinion, as are all of us. But you should have stated it as that, rather than a statement of fact.
