Lucy, from West Yorkshire, is blind and neurodivergent. She is taught by Daniel Bath, who joined her on stage.

I think the whole country fell in love with Lucy. Her teacher is a remarkable gift to these children and should win some sort of award for his compassion, patience, understanding and ability to bring out such talent as Lucy’s . Bravo to both for giving us such beautiful music.
What you say is true, but as a blind person, I take exception to you referring to ‘these children’. Why can’t she simply be a pianist, not a blind pianist?

But if you knew how hard it is to play the piano under any circumstances you would understand how truly remarkable the achievements of "these children" ,with all of their challenges, really is. Yes, I felt close to God's Holy Spirit when she played and had tears of joy.
The fact that she’s not moving her head in time to the music must mean she is completely immersed in the musical part and not aware of her other movements. Her music is coming from a part of her brain that most of us could only dream of accessing.
it's possible the movement of the head reorients the ears and lets here "see" things her eyes can not.

For viewers watching Lucy for the first time and perhaps wondering what the fuss is all about, it's worthwhile to trace her musical journey back to her early childhood, all documented on CZcams, to understand the challenges she and her family faced in encouraging her to even communicate with them, let alone nurture and guide her towards this unlikely blossoming in the public eye. The Amber Trust (Patron Camilla, Queen Consort) appointed her teacher, Daniel Bath, himself an accomplished musician, to bring out whatever musical talent, if any, may lay hidden beneath Lucy's natural shyness and confronting physical mannerisms. This is the result so far. Every note memorised, every finger position practiced for hours, every emotional nuance achieved, is a minor miracle. @@branscombeR thank you R. I was really interested in knowing how this was possible. I also have worked and played with children, some with autism while teaching them to be safer in the water, some how to swim in water over their heads. Always trying to make a game of it helps as well as patience.

I remember seeing this remarkable young lady on the piano, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Lang Lang. She blew me away then, and she is just a force to be reckoned with. She is awesome.
To play the piece from memory muscle in the fingers is breathtaking and to add her interpretation of it especially the later parts is divine ..
Yes, that is remarkable. What I find more remarkable is that she can't see the keyboard. I play the piano and could never play even the most simplest of pieces without looking at the keyboard quite a few times.

It depends on the autism for example. Asperger's typically have an above average intelligence and is a personality disorder which is not negatively effecting cognitive ability...

What stuns me about Lucy isn't how well she plays, it's the depth of emotion she brings that seems to always be even more prominent. That is what she's playing for us, not the notes on the piano. It all changes the way we understand music, others and ourselves.
YES. It's not 'just' how well she plays...with her 'disabilities' (!), it's the profound musicality and interpretation she brings to the piece. She's THIRTEEN. I can imagine Debussy jumping to his feet, applauding wildly, and yelling "Yes!! THAT'S what I meant to say!" 🥰
Next time you think about saying you can't do something that takes just a little effort, think of Lucy. She's the definition of inspiration. Bravo!

This is an incredible and inspirational piece of video. My late father was blind. The effects of someone in your family being blind can be devastating. Happily there's so many wonderful folk around to help talented people like Lucy.
She doesn’t know what’s going on. She was forced treatment leading to this along with causing over deformation. Her mental growth is stunted , can’t even act like a child. They are just pushing around a veggie
