I always considered this MK as most hilarious one cause you just cant not laugh when listening to some voices and animations (especially for throws, i had scorpion voice line for years in my head).
Always thought this was the most underrated of the series. I actually thought the gameplay was alot better in this one compared to the previous ones. The A.I. wasn't as annoying, and the use of weapons was cool.

I like how the first couple opponents go down in seconds and then here comes Sub Zero pullin out his Ice Mace and branchin combos 😂 Ice clones and everything it looked like player 2 hit start button for second there! Nice video MK 4 is definitely in my top 3 MK games! Love this gem

Old answer but, for their first attempt at 3D, I'd say it was a success, the game in itself isn't bad at all, not perfect, but they were moving into the right direction here, the only thing I kinda disliked here was the weapons, not the idea, but the implementation, once drawn, you couldn't combo anymore, so it basically slowed you down, for me, it was a combo finisher and them a projectile right after that...

After all these years I had no idea you could spin the Master fight opponent line up and in order to master the finishing moves you had to have bought the code book and even then the controller pattern to do it was next level
this is the most complex mortal kombat. it is fast and if mastered you can have a sensation that you are playing chess. too bad that there is not an online version of this.
I believed the sidestep button (borrowed from Virtua Fighter 3) was used to primarily evade projectiles. I found it useless in actual gameplay, the pace was to hectic for its usage.
Kai was awesome. And I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Reiko return in the new rebooted MK series to see what they could do with him. Jarek I don’t care about though. But seriously, Kai is bad ass. I can imagine Kai in a modern game. He’d probably do capoeira with some shaolin kung fu mixed in or something.
Can you imagine what if... If Liu Kang was by Kitana's side as King of Edenia, they'd be unstoppable and have little children running around lol... Definitely would've had a family of their own much like JC and Sonya. Liu Kang messed it up with her every time no matter the timeline.
Well played with Lui Kang, but to be honest I never was that impressed or interested back when I saw screenshots of this back in 97 in an N64 magizine it just looked disappointing in terms of graphics and game play even though there were limitations with what the Midway team could do it still could have been a better installment from its predecessors, as of earlier classics I would revert back to UMK3 for an enjoyable game, thanks for the upload :-)
It looks like he's playing on either the console or PC version as MK4 Arcade can't be easily emulated. It looks and plays much better in the arcade, but overall it is still kinda meh in comparison to UMK3. Just felt kinda empty and the roster was weak.
The only good thing about this MK were the 3D models and graphics, which were innovative, but the rest.. the bosses.. mmm. I also used to get a depressive feeling after playing this, it must be due the music, scenarios, etc, which was made on purpose i believe

Yeah I got the same experience from MK deception, I would be kind of depressed after playing it but this was all when I was much younger
