  • The mighty Quo live in 1970 on a TV show called Doing Their Thing.
An early live clip of the band looking like a bunch of bad-asses. Spud in particular looks like he's ready to punch somebody - presumably Rossi for noodling away endlessly. Great stuff.

Piledriver, Hello, Quo, On the Level, Blue for You and Live! are all solid and killer albums. R.i.p Rick Parfitt

I have seen them three times here in Sweden. First time was on Gröna Lund in Stockholm. I was lucky enough to find a pole that i could take a steady grip around and that was just a few meter from stage. When they entered the stage
Francis Rossi asked "are you alright" yeah, guess three times.

Do you like Status Quo? I absolutely love them, especially their early performances. If you really want to listen to some rock 'n' roll, Status Quo should be your go-to. They've been delivering top-quality music for years. This video is a recording from 1970 when the band was at the peak of their blues-rock sound. It is a magnificent feeling to watch what these exceptional guys almost pushing 80 have been performed in their youth. Especially John Coghlan, who's now 77 years old, is putting on an incredible show. His drumming seems like a machine with arms working separately from his body. Maintaining that rhythm flawlessly for 10 minutes at this speed must be quite challenging and tiring, but Coghlan manages it. Alan Lancaster, with his baby face, is as wonderful as ever; watching him is such a pleasure. His performance in 'Roadhouse Blues' was incredibly impressive. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with multiple sclerosis at the age of 72 in 2021, leaving a significant void not only in the British music world but in the global music scene.
I must mention that the British undeniably had a significant influence in the rock music genre, and I have enormous respect for this rich cultural heritage. In this video, Rick Parfitt looks so young that it's hard to believe he's no longer with us. But the demon of alcohol took him too, and he left us at the age of 68 in 2016. His performance here is nothing short of amazing! In the video, you'll mainly see three long-haired blond heads leaning forward and Coghlan playing the drums like crazy. There are five things that caught my attention in this video: John Coghlan's determination towards the end, where he breaks his drumsticks twice due to his powerful strikes, his intense glares (sometimes they're quite intimidating), Francis Rossi hardly lifting his head except for one moment during the performance, Roy Lynes calmly playing the organ, and the audience sitting like sticks with very little movement in this lively music, except for a few sporadic bursts. That's the profile of people in the '70s, never letting go of their seriousness. The recurring main theme in the background and guitar and organ solos will leave you breathless. It's almost like a time when we feel the sorrow and regret that those days are gone and won't come back. The legendary musicians and music of that era are truly 'amazing' in my opinion!
