    The devs absolutely had a vision for Paragon under Steve Superville (Omeda has/ have Superville as a consultant iirc).
    The original Legacy version of Paragon was his baby, and he left the project right as Epic transitioned the game to the much smaller Monolith map while dramatically increasing base movement speed.
    His vision was clearly tossed by Epic, who were constantly chasing a more casual market. The version 42 update of Paragon, which simplified the already-easy card system also increased attack speeds to the point that they had to gut the animations for certain heroes' auto attacks (Feng, Gideon, Howitzer).
    Epic wanted Paragon to be something other than a MOBA, and it drove away a lot of people that had stuck with the project from the start.
    Cameron Winston, one of the faces of the dev team on their community corner, admitted that a traditional item shop would be better for the game, then essentially told people that it was never going to happen.
    Towards the end, before they announced the shutdown, there were virtually no content or balance updates, and the mood on the subreddit was unpleasant.
    Epic staff familiar with UE4 were absolutely funneled from Paragon to Fortnite, and I don't know why that's controversial.
    Was Paragon successful? No, obviously not.
    But it wasn't given a chance to succeed, and there was executive meddling every step of the way in an attempt to attract and retain an audience that didn't want to play a MOBA.
    Epic dumpstered Paragon because they had no idea how to reconcile its identity as a third person MOBA with their desire for something with mass appeal.

    for the first time, Ima counter your point. Fortnite's Tidal Wave Success hard canceled the need to not full commit their whole Paragon Dev Team to Fortnite allocation. they also Intentionally paid their largest E-Sports Pros such as TSM Myth to hard commit swap games so they could cancel Paragon and feel less like pieces of shit about it. They had bad listeners in upper management in the original Paragon Dev Team, and now with properly distributed vision, goals, and dreams from RGSace, they have the direction to crush it. but the massive success of Fortnite absolutely expedited Paragon's shutdown. They announced shutdown almost immediately after their Largest Full Scale E-Sports showcase for Paragon. they had an arena, casters, Crazy team drama, and it was the biggest full community show up that Paragon ever got. and then EA was like shut it down, Fortnite is priority Threat Level Omega. real talk.

    Didn’t the Paragon Devs say that Epic was closing down their station for the lack of a better word because Fortnite was going to become their focus? They were taking Paragon devs and told them to focus solely on Fortnite?

    Where is aurora! That was the coolest hero. A good aurora could swing a match so heavy either way. Character had tons of utility and playing the character right gave tons of value. Playing It wring just got you steam rolled

    Comparing valorant to Fortnite is wild. Valorant had at a peak, 20 million registered players.
    Fortnite once had almost 50 million people PLAYING it on one Saturday.
    The fact is, many of the staff that were taken off paragon DID go over to Fortnite.

  • @iEuRov2
    @iEuRov2 Před 2 měsíci

    @12:00 I agree with you Pinzo. Fortnite did not kill Paragon. It was because of their lackluster balance updates, the card system being very static and not allowing a lot of flexibility, especially in higher play. There was a meta but if you didn't have a very certain card for some heroes you were throwing. (The gem system wasn't half bad at the end) And the effect of changing the map and system 4 separate times was what killed it.
    Fortnite was just the better thing to sink their money into. Paragon had no viability when it kept changing the pillars everytime.
    Frankly it was the odd vision they had for it, I agree.

    Fortnight is a billion dollar franchise, and like the biggest thing ever. You can't compare league or valerant to that. There's no reason for epic to give a sht about this amazing azz game. If you had a Garbage truck and a Lambo what you drive more 😂.

    Comparing Riot dropping League to Epic games dropping Paragon is wild. The idea that Fortnites box office success had little to do with them funneling their resources out of a mediocre game like Paragon to their cash cow makes all the sense in the world. Im not sure Paragon survives, but Fortnite def had a reason in it shutting down when it did.

    • @flintburner6313
      @flintburner6313 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I do completely agree with you. I just wish they kept paragon around lol I like it more than smite. So at least get to play a form of it now.
      But yeah no where near as successful as LoL. There is a reason it's still played today by a lot of people and paragon died

    Do you have tips on landing the roots on instant cast ? I wish there was the arrow thing like in smite. I want to play instant cast but those kind of skillshots I feel are too random as there’s no way that I know to aim it, so I’m open for tips if you have any ! :)

    • @PinzoDunzo
      @PinzoDunzo  Před 2 měsíci +1

      honestly for a new player, if you're used to instant cast from smite, I would play on Quick cast to get a feel of distances

      @@PinzoDunzo I’ve been playing on quick for a few months but I feel like I’m losing time on some abilities. Like rik grab I’m always on instant because it feels way better ! But for abilities like Sev’s root I wish there was the same arrow on the ground to know where the abilities are supposed to go
      For him you just started quick cash and then at some point you switched to instant ?
