Love, Claudio & The Doctor Mix Team - Hudba
Ahhh my favorite mono of all time. A wonderful and fun instrument. KORG really struck gold with this one, and somehow, it never aged. No matter the decade, the MS20 always sounds modern.
1:16 with headphones..... sweet mother of god. My head was vibrating
Man, I love the sounds it makes... The KORG DS-10 for Nintendo DS was a software version that mixes MS-10 and MS-20 at the Nintendo DS, but, having the original MS-20 it's my dream!
I still have it on my DS!
The remake is just as good and way cheaper
@@Masamune0191 me too!!! It is so fun! Specially when you bother all your family and friends the whole day piaouuunging or woauuundpeeeeeing! Hehehe!
"I could listen to you forever!" (kisses synth)
Ahah awesome!
I bought the MS-20 Mini last week. Already my favorite synth ever!
tompparaideri - they are amazing, those filters are unlike anything else!
Left Mono I have used the iPad and VST versions for years now but it’s a whole different experience using the real thing even though the digital versions are pretty close.
You can't beat hardware! There's something about owning an instrument that keeps you interested. I really like tuning the oscillators a 5th or 7th apart, adjusting the cutoff and resonance to get some nice harmonics and running it through a big reverb.
I still own my orginal MS20 from 1982. And I still record and perform with it.
4:15 this son of a gun just climaxed in front of us! Get a room Dr. Mix! 😂
Abaddon 🤣
4:09 if you want to see the full money shot, grotesque to the max.
I also climaxed when I picked up one of these in UK @1990 at my local 'church bazaar'. The old bloke said to me "I think its broke, you have have it for a quid" (about $2 at the time) Yep! Pants overload :D :D
omg and then he kissed it, NSFW!
Busted a nut right in the input jack.
Incredible sounds Love the Daft Punk rif
Your passion for music and synths is contagious!
In my life I've sold 2 synths. First was a DX7, second was an MS20. I regret both more than if I'd chopped off one of my arms. My current favorite synth that I own (that no one seems to care about) is a Roland SH-1, followed closely by my Ensoniq ESQ-1 . The Roland is Fat with a capital P H. I can't believe it's not more popular. The Ensoniq is like the DX7's long lost cousin.
I bought this synth in 1996 and I never left it eversince . And there is something magic about it. All the people coming to my house were attracted, musicians or not: "what's that thing?" As soon as they started to play with its knobs, I remember a blues guitarist, a classic pianist, a heavy drummer, some fathers and mothers (mine inclusive) smile like kids! I don't know much about re-editions, but the original one is a pure gem, able to communicate with dolphins in a desert island!
When I was 15 back in 87, I bought a MS10. About ten years later I found a very clean MS20 on Ebay. It's been one of my absolute favourite synths ever since. Love your channel!
Love your channel. So much happyness comes from you :) and great demos!
So glad to hear that!! Thanks
This sounds soo good, the growl is sick
I bought one when they first came out. Had to buy the Mini when it came out. Awesome synths
I have owned an MS-20 for nearly 35 years and still love the sounds that it can provide. Digital can never replicate.
I´ve had one for years...and I still love it!
i hear the univers talken to you.... jesus... soooooooo nice and full of craft.. thx KORG thx Doctor Mix
I have the MS-20 mini controller and Korg Legacy Collection. Really impressed with this and I think they put a ton of care to reproduce this classic almost perfectly.
Killer!!!, I could listen to this forever too
Fire playing in the end!!!
My dad had one when he was young...I got it from him in broken condition and fixed it...now I have a really old and grated synthesizer
Your passion for this synth really comes through. We just got one of these badboys where I work. Gentlemen, I'm going in.
I swapped mine for a collection of Modern Talking LPs back in the 80ies. Let's see if i can rebuy me a used one by selling the LPs... oh... 🙀
Modern Talking? I don't think it was a good trade...
Modern Talking is the shit....could be much worse i.e. a collection of LP's by Gunther and his damn infectious sing - The Ding Ding Song. Yes, it's a real thing
@@808Stateddd What kind of argument is that.....
Actually, trading a synth for a recording of a track that will become really popular ~20 years in the future... i'd do that.
That's not worse... wtf are you talking about?
Yet another sick review from Dr.mix
Great. Remembering those 80’s
Still got mine. Love it.
Def a synth that I've always wanted to play.
The MS 20 is awesome! I have mine fopr yeard and still discover new sounds! The best demo online is the one of Analog Audio, the synthetic voice sounds incredible!
Lots of famous track-sound from the synthesizer greatest albums passing by 😎
The cure for the best evening so far, doctor 💪👍🙏
Ha! Great seeing how much fun you have with this synth! I just got an MS-20 mini and loving it.
I'm still getting to grips with the patch panel - I'd like to see another video where you have fun with that. :)
AWESOME!!!! i want one. such a wide range of sounds
Had a 1978 mark I MS-20 for a year or so. It's a peach.
The patch bay + external signal processor + pitch to voltage convertor is the whole other side of the synth. Gets very interesting when you head over there. :)
Uhhhh!
@@Doctormix Have you tried singing into the pitch to voltage converter? Can imagine you making a very entertaining video with that section of it :)
My first synth bought in 1983, sold it when everything should be digital and bought it again in 2017. Will never let it go.😊😊
Yessssss
I loved our MS-20 we had in school!!! He replaced our ARP 2600 that was stolen
Anyone wanna buy an arp2600? oops..
@@djGreenALERT Sure, after buying a Minimoog and a MS20
*_Classic_* .... need I say more! Best Regards, Axel.
We use an original MS20 in our live set up. Would be interesting to see you delve into the patching possibilities. Wonderful synth :)
i owned it once .. sold it after .. really great one ... thanks for the video
Mt MS 20 mini just arrived today..YAY!
My favorite (with my 800DV, bought in may 76). I have my MS20 since 1978 and I love it so much that I bought each and every iteration of it since then (midi, mini, kit, and even the Nintendo DS version for my grand-son!). Never failed me (and with time, I accompanied it with all his friends, M210, MS50, SQ10, MS02, MS03, MS04, MS2000...! and thinking that in the late 70s early 80s, I was snubbed by friends of mine who owned minimoogs or Odysseys (that I couldn't afford then :-)). I've always used extensively the patchbay (hope you make another video showing its features) and in the early 2010s, quite often with its processor to treat (and be triggered by) my Theremin!
Wow would love an MS50! KORG is my favorite synth manufacturer with the Ms20 and Wavestation being my favorite mono and poly synths of all time. Awesome collection you got there :)
Haha I love your reaction to the sounds. It's an amazing synth, I need this now.
Cool - I have the MS-20 mini. See ya this weekend at Thomann :-) A video of the MS-10 would be great too!
I had a very similar reaction playing with an original ms20. The fidelity is just insane!
Watching your sheer joy in playing with this synth just made my day. I dare you to watch this video without smiling. Keep making these. Love it.
I couldn't live a desert island without a polysynth. But I could bring this along my Juno-106
Agreed. Mine would be an MS-20 (with an sq-1) and either a Wavestation or Blofeld.
Still waiting for the Sequential Circuits Pro-one :) great vid as always
Finaly, some one who knowes the true MS-20 power!!!!
Love the sounds. You played the Beverly Hills cop theme. That was awsome.
Excellent doc!!! What a beast
Love Ms..in fact i own the Ms20mini. TOP SYNTH
Very impressive machine. Great demo too. Many folks presenting it dont show the full bandwidth of sounds you can make.
If only I had 1/4 of your skill, just want to quit my job and create. Awesome instrument!
I didn't see a lot of Doctor Mix' videos, but it seems kissing of rare and unique hardware is obligatory. I approve. 👌😁
Awesome!
Thank you for this. You are Magical.
I loved so much the Korg MS-20. The first time I heard it, was with the duo Air, before with Röyksopp. And I felt MS-20 has many possibilities of sound and also being versatile with many styles of music!!!
But i got impressed with its polyphony!
Thank you, Doctor Mix!!!
Hahaha!!!
Oh my vst-i life. This is the first time I see ms20 in real life. it's so beautiful.
Dr Mix a gem of a find thank you 🙏
congrats to @bbc ! I forgot completely about this MS20 sound... awesome presentation👍 thx💯
Thanks!!!
All kidding aside, that envelope length at 4:07 IS pretty freaking stellar. And that Axel Foley jam at 7:00 is more than worth the price of admission guys. This video made my day - great stuff and I can't wait to get the reissue.
Legendary synth
Such a treat truly #OutOfThisWorld 😲 #DoctorMixKorgTastic 😊
MS-20 (original) was my first synth. Still have it, still love it.
You didn't even get into patching!
Yep, comes into its own once you start messing with that stuff. Plane flybys, flying saucer takeoffs and landings, cars, motorbikes, animals, just so much fun... This was my first synth in the early 80's and I used to just sit there for hours at a time with a handful of patch leads just messing about and annoying the hell out of my parents and neighbours. Built a harmonics generator for it (ran off the oscillator(s) output) and that just added another layer of fun!
MS 20 definetely on my want list.
Ms - 10 was my 1st synth. The thunder and wind sounds you can make with nothing but pink and white noise (and some filtering)are awesome itself . It could create all the Italo base sounds of the time . I hooked it up to a 3 head reeltape recorder that functioned as a tape echo ( 3 speeds...lol) I sold it and bought myself a Korg MonoPoly witch is one of the fatest sounding synth's you will ever hear ! Would love to see you play that syhnt Doctor Mix !
Another great video from Dr. Mix.
I couldn't get an original MS-20, but I got the modern mini version, and it sounds great!
My first synth was also a Korg, the Minikorg 700. You should do a video on that.
I have one now for 10 years and I love it. I use the Pro solo II MIDI to Hz converter (ms 20 does not do CV) and it works great. the filters are slow but not terrible given this is from ...gulp...1978. I also use the external input for guitar and vocals /(like Allison goldfrapp on felt mountain) It sounds like no other! Thanks for the demo - cheers.
What’s a slow filter?
I had that lovely beast for a long time, it's really miracle synth. It amazed me with all sound possibilities and sonic nuances. It was never a Moog, but no Moog was ever MS20, so...
Maybe you could once show us some patchbay possibilities - there lies a hidden treasure :) - delayed vibrato, random function (sample & hold), games with noise oscilators, you can add modulation to this or that, envelope generator to this or that, etc etc. And finally, there is probably the most wicked feature of that little gem - external signal processor :) It gave us opportunity to play MS20's synth sounds by using microphone, guitar or any other electronic instrument* (I must admit it was not easy at all, you must play monophonic and also sound source must be very stabile, or you will get headache..) but also you had chance to use some other instrument sound through and to add filters/envelope/filter oscillators/etc to it and to change original sound in many many interesting ways. Finally, it was really nice video, well done!!!
I have one of these lol. Fantastic character in this one
Wow! I was just making a Spotify plalist consisting songs with MS-20 in it. Great synthesizer!
Care to share it?
Amazing how you seem the find all these machines and play them one for one as if you never played anything else. You really motivate me as a beginning music producer. Thanks doc!
That is so cool, I wish I had the skills to be able to use that and also understand what I’m doing!
Greatings from germany again. your ask if we enjoy... yes but tooo short your video Doc. More form this MS-20 in ACTION WITH YOU
I never hit a subscribe button so fast! You quickly but effectively went over all the highlights of this beautiful machine!
Awesome job!
sick. great demo.
I love the Hold control, it sustains for ages.
Doctor Mix you are awesome!
Cool! I own an MS-20 Mini, and enjoy it a lot. Hope you demo using the patch panel...
‘Typical nyow nyow’
MAN! You should do a series of how to make to most of this machine that millons love (and have) around the world!
Very cool sounds! I have definitely heard some of these analoguey tones in dance music of years past. :)
I just bought an MS-20 vintage with Korg35 filters. After cleaning an deoxit d5 on pots an keybed, and calibration of it, it sounds like brand spanking new!
I need to get myself one of this!
They lived happily ever after and had babies :P
3.36 reminded me the song from Ramirez - Terapia. 🙂
I just hope there's a follow-up video with lots of patch cords.
Dr mix synth king
Cool!!!!🎛🎹🔉🔊🎶🎶🎶🎶
I have a VST for this, but it is really cool seeing and hearing the real instrument.
Hey, my first snyth in 1978, i worked 4 weeks in the holidays to buy it. Sold in 1999 for 250 DM/125€.......nice vid.😎
Great video, made me smile in parts....
Ok.....
Dr. Mix. This is really cool. Can't blame you for choosing to take this synthesizer to a desert island. I would probably do the same thing.
So awesome man
Great video on this its epic
I just own de "monotron analogue ribon synthesizer", and it is great too!!!
Thanks Doc
Sure!!
Nice!
I love his LPF and HPF
1:33 Da Funk by Daft Punk, dude, you’re amazing. Btw if you connected a input cord (whatever they are called) into a certain hole to another hole, tweak with the knobs a bit and you get the sound. There is a video on CZcams of it. But awesome stuff dude. Love this channel!
I have the KORG DS-10 for the Nintendo DS. It is super fun to mess around with!
KORG DS-10 is a music creation program for the Nintendo DS that emulates the Korg MS range of synthesizers. Frequently people refer to the Korg MS-10 but this is a single oscillator monosynth. The DS-10 adds sync which the MS-20 is lacking.
