I just use tap water. A lot of people swear by distilled but unless you have a well or really crappy city water, you will be fine. Especially just practicing. I have never used baby shampoo, I always used dish soap. Orbit is pretty sticky so it will need more slip than some other films. I was using 1 ounce per gallon of dish soap, so 48 ounce is a little less than half a gallon... Try a little more than ¼ ounce of soap and see how you like it. Not sure if that ratio will be anywhere near close for baby shampoo though. If you use dish soap, don't use the super strength dawn because of the degreasers. I was using off brand sams club soap for like $6/gallon.
