How To Remove Ford Rear View Mirrors... The RIGHT way!
In this video I show you how to remove the dreaded Ford rearview mirrors without breaking the glass. This is on a 2010 Ford F250 Super Duty pickup truck but the process is the same on many other Ford vehicles such as the F150, F350, Explorer, Mustang, Expedition, and more.
Having the right tools for the job make's this task must easier, less stressful and less risky! I highly recommend investing in the proper tools. All of my different Ford rearview mirror tools combined cost less than the cost of a single windshield.... Trust me, I know.

I'm so glad I found this channel. So much great information. Thank you!
@seriousproductionz1 thank you for the compliment and thank you for Watching!
Couple questions you put the tint pretty high, is it true if it’s all the way up it can peel back? Maybe I just can’t see the small gap you left at ty top of you did. Also, what do you think is acceptable for dirt, the little white spots, after when tint is done?
@forgivemylaughter it will 99% of the time only peel if it is overlapping where the bevel of the glass starts. Me personally, I shoot for as close to no gap as possible, and sometimes if I'm bored, I'll file the tint but that's a whole other conversation. If you're just starting out, ⅛ of an inch is a great goal. Close enough that it looks good but low enough you shouldn't have any peeling issues. As far as contamination, I shoot for 5 specs or less in a window BUT that also depends on what it is. Dirty old 200,000 mile farm truck, not a chance. Brand new car, definitely do able with practice and the right cleaning steps.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608thx for the info. Got tint done and was told it’s industry standard for some contamination specs to show but I’m seeing a dozen or more on 2 to 3 out of the 5 windows done. Rear is okay not many but the back doors and quarter panels look to have too many imo, I’m going to be going back and asking for it to be re-done. The guy even admitted there was another car getting work done in same garage with cleaning etc and it caused more particles but that he was able to get it to 90% but 80% is considered standard for windows. I felt pretty fuckin pissed inside when he said that because I thought bud I came here to get a professional job I could do a shitty job with contaminates at home in my drive way. I let it go and thought I’ll monitor after it drys, 2 days now and I’m just feeling uneasy about the amount of tiny white spots. I know I can’t expect perfection but there’s like 3 large clusters on 1 window. And lots of scattered around on others. Professional’s should be able to get this done much better. Hopefully they acknowledge it when I show them and fix this shit. Is removing tint to get it redone an issue or is it pretty easy to peel it off, I also don’t want them damaging anything.
Trigger spray definitely suck, I used a pump spray is good but I’m tired of filling it with water, I also bought a filter of 200 mesh for the pump spray and it works great, but I want a keg is so nice
@mayrondelacruzperez5893 kegs are awesome, you just have to rinse them out once in a while so your slip doesn't start leaving a build up inside.

How many rolls of each tint should you carry?
Depends on how busy you are and what shades are popular in your area.. I usually keep 2 rolls of 5% and 20% and one of everything else.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 if I do 2-3 cars per day 2 rolls of each should do ? I’m just starting out
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 if I do 2-3 cars a day that should be enough? I’m asking as I’m just starting out
Great video! But then in CA they don’t charge 2-300…….they charge like 600+
How much did you charge
$250 for dyed if I remember correctly
if someone wants me to stack 20% over 20% how do i prep the tint on the window already without scratching started about 3 months ago ?
I don't stack tint because tint is made to stick to glass, not tint. So if you do it, don't offer a warranty. As far as prep goes, about all you can do is clean it with a microfiber, spray, squeege, spray and stick.
off topic but is anything i have to look out on tinting a 2019 bmw 330i i hand cut btw ?
Not that I can think of off the top of my head but I've only done a few.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 thank you is there any module i have to cover for windshield or back ?
@Dablem4 couldn't tell you but I never have. I also don't fire hose the glass either.
Great video what are your thoughts about starting in Houston? There are quite a few window tint companies but 90% of cars here are tinted and we are the 4th largest city in the US so I feel like it would be a great market.
You'll just need to figure out ways you can separate yourself from them. Whether that's working weekends when most shops won't or some other way to make a customer want to choose you over the others in your area.
One question: I am a new tinter and currently using the trial version of housecall pro. Can you tell me what business setting you used for tinting?
I buit my own price book as there was no option that would work for me.

Quick questions for you. That tool you use to remove the little door behind the door opener. Where can I get one or do you have a suggestion for one? Thanks!
I think you're talking about a 90* pick? I use either that or what's called a seal or O ring pick. Harbor freight carries the regular pick sets for like $5 for a set of 4 different ones. Not sure if they have seal picks or not. Mine are Cornwell but honestly you don't need to spend tool truck money on these things.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 yeah I believe so. I saw husky has a set. I’ve been practicing 2 staging and have been really struggling and then I tried bottom loading and been having more success. In your opinion do you think I should stick to bottom loading and learn how to remove door panels better ? Thanks for the help and your time!
@Ryanr2789 I two staged for 6 years and there are some cars that it's just an absolute pain to do and do well. I started bottom loading and learning how most sweeps come out without taking the whole panel off and man has it been a game changer. I think it's much easier to learn bottom loading BUT it also helped me be an even better two stager. So now, it really just depends on the car. If I'm in a big hurry and it's a something I know I can two stage faster than I can pull sweeps and bottom load then I do that. If I have plenty of time or the sweeps come out easy, I'll bottom load.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 in your opinion with just beginning and going through my first roll of film lol should I stick with 2 stage until I get good at it ?
@Ryanr2789 if you are having better success with bottom loading. Do that. There is a group called "bottom loading window tinters" on Facebook. Join it. It has how to remove the sweeps on pretty much any make and model you can think of, including high end exotics as well as some semis. No point in throwing away film if you don't have to.
Great video! Is it normal for the tint not to lay flat on the dot matrix that borders around the back window? And see the outline of the matrix. thanks for the help!
100% normal. Some people sand them with sand paper but that's pretty risky and time consuming.
Thanks again! Really enjoy the content!
@@Ryanr2789 no problem at all! Thanks for your support! Every view and subscription really makes a difference!
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 no problem! Are you self taught or did you take a class on Tinting? I’m trying to teach myself by purchasing cheaper film.
@Ryanr2789 self taught! There weren't any classes that I knew of 7 years ago.
Great video man, I have a lot of connections and people I could get started with. I want to start my own mobile tinting business. I know I'd obviously need to have mastered tinting before selling my services. I tinted my rear windows w walmart tint and they actually came out good for the first time. Would your advice be practice practice practice before I start advertising? How long do you think it should take to get good enough to get this started.
I appreciate the compliment and thank you for watching! I would say yes, wait until you are putting out quality on par with your local area before you start advertising however, I wouldn't hesitate to tint your friends and families vehicles for cheap just for practice. When I first started, I kinda fell into it as I just did my own cars but then had friends that wanted their work cars or work trucks done and didn't really care about the quality. So I was doing a set of front doors for like $50. Of course the more you do it the better you get and when I was confident I could consistently put out quality work, I started really advertising.
They know their work isnt perfect 🤷♂️
No tint job is 100% perfect, but I've seen so many that leave a lot to be desired.
is it cold where you are?
In the winter it is
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 I only ask because it almost seems no matter how much slip i use i cant slide film very well here in florida, You gotta be pretty perfect on your lay lol.
@skouria3135 when you spray the glass does the water bead up? If so there is a hydroponic coating, likely from ceramic glass cleaner. They are getting really popular with dealerships as well as detailers. If that's the case, no matter how much slip you use it won't work right. You need to torch the window or scrub with invisible glass glass stripper to remove it.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 another question ive seen you say to someone else is get a 60" roll and have them cut 36" x 24".. That sounds great but do they box them separately or how does that work?
@skouria3135 yes, you usually just get a better deal that way but not always.
Promo*SM ☹️
What?
what is the difference between the two ways of heating paper, vertical and horizontal
When I go vertical, I'm letting the heat and air flow shrink and split the bigger fingers without me having to touch them. You don't have to do it. I guess you could call it an "advanced technique"
It's so bad this camara
U should just do the headgasket while ur in there 😂😂😂 if ur a good tinter no need for all this mess 😂😂
The head gasket(s) are conveniently located under the hood.... Not the back doors. And yeah you could say that but what you must not know is that a lot of those "good tinters" are cutting the seals back or stuffing wires into the seals. I've seen a lot of these windows done by those "good tinters" with no shortage of contamination or cuts that are too short, etc. I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment though! Have a good one!
Does ceramic stick to the dot matrix better? I hate seeing the outline when tint doesn't stick.
No, not really. You could sand down the dots with sand paper, but you can't touch the glass with it, or it will scratch. Personally, it's not worth the risk, liability, or time to sand down dots around a windshield or back glass. What really sucks is when half of a windshield lays down nice and black but the other half silvers up even though the prep process was entirely the same. Lol
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 Yeah I've heard about the sanding method. I know for a fact I would mess up the glass lol. I was really hoping better tint would solve that. Knowing I'm going to have that silver almost makes me not want to tint my car... Almost.
@ryanrupp8853 I know it can be bothersome and a bit of an eye sore but honestly it's just part of it. Some manufacturers put the dots in between the layers of glass on the windshield so that's nice. Hopefully everyone follows suite and they do it on the back glass too lol
Thank you! Same one for our 9th gen (2013-2017) Honda Accord Sport
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching and I'm glad it helped!
So when you shrink you leave the tint on the outside of the windows!? You don’t put it on the inside?
No. You can shrink and cut the film on the inside. That would be a nightmare. You cut and shrink on the outside and then install inside.
I've always wanted to try window tinting, but I think I would get to anxious or in a hurry when things weren't going right and ruin it! I don't have the patience for it. You guys that can tint are worth every penny you charge.
Thank you! It is definitely easy to get flustered. I have found that the more you try to fight it and "man handle it" the worse it ends up. I had to learn patience the hard way. Lol
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 yeah, I'd have it waded up in the trash and then get on Facebook looking for local window tint recommendations.

Is the front windshield legal to tint in texas?
Couldn't tell you. You should google it or ask an attorney in your area.
Never heard of people taking the whole ass window out till just recently 😂😂 definitely gonna give it a shot I take the bottom seal out already so may as well any tips or cars I shouldn’t try to take apart
I haven't found one yet that wasn't pretty easy. Its just a matter of knowing where the screws are. Toyota/Lexus liked to make it a game of hide and seek. Lol
Did you just use normal steel wool?
I use the sos steel wool soap pads but you can use any 0000 steel wool
Great Video! Quick question and hopefully the last one lol I ordered the side swiper squeegee with the orange fusion blade and I noticed the blade is squared and not beveled. Is the going to scratch the tint or should I file the edges? Thanks for all the help!
No it won't hurt it as long as you keep it clean. If you get a knick in it then it could scratch but that can happen with any squeege. And don't worry, ask all the questions you want.
@@fastlanecarcarellc3608Thank you! I appreciate it !
I think you just got that finesse
Bless you! 🙌 🤣 it took a good while to get here
Great tool to have! If you get a customer with a laminated window anything you should avoid doing when tinting ? Thanks !
Laminated glass is just two thinner sheets of glass glued together so the biggest danger with those is don't over heat them. If you can't put your hand on the glass and hold it for more than 5 seconds, I would say it's way too hot and you can bubble the glue layer between the glass and that will never go away, you'll need to replace the glass.
@fastlanecarcarellc3608 Thanks for the info!
@@Ryanr2789 no problem! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Could I diy tint on an already tinted windshield? I got 35% but it’s not dark enough it’s also carbon ceramic tint and was wondering if I could apply another 35% tint on top. Or should I just redo the tint and put 25%
35% on top 35% would be 12%. Way darker than I would recommend for a front windshield. You can diy it but if you have never done it before and you want it to look good, it would be cheaper to take it to a shop once you factor in buying the right tools and a roll of quality tint, etc.
Everything you said is 100% on point! Excellent video!
Thank you! And thank you for watching!
What film do you use?
Helios Nova and Super Nova from Sundistributingdirect.com
ive had clients reach out saying if i could remove tint and redo car , ive dont side windows with a heat gun but i turn away back windshields for now just cause i dont feel comfortable yet to tackle it and god forbid i mess up and rip defrosters or something but im looking into getting a steamer to start attempting them cause aint no way ima take the risk try a back windshield with a heat lol, any recommendations for a steamer?
Walmart sells a $50 ish "garment steamer" and that's all I've used. Works great for the money. However there is always a risk of damaging the defroster grid so just let them be aware of that. I've never damaged one on a removal but cars like teslas have really delicate lines so they are one I don't think I'd touch for removal. Thankfully they are not very popular in my area in comparison to other makes and models.
5.0 ❤it.. wish I had 1 5.0
It sounds pretty rowdy 💚
The most boring demo 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that was funny
Absolutely. Ceramic is no joke as far as heat rejection but yeah, it was boring to film, boring to edit, and honestly almost got scrapped all together. 🤣
Yep I've seen some crazy shit but this has to take the prize get the correct tools and stop taking shit apart done sooo many of those cars that small window is among the easiest ones.
Oh I can assure you I have the correct tools. So which technique do you prefer, cutting the seal back or wedging hard cards in them to create space? Oh or shoving speaker wire in the seal? I've seen so many of these done poorly from tinters that are too lazy to pull the glass and do it right. But hey, if your customers are happy, keep doing it your way.
Thank you! I have a charger tomorrow and I’m going too use the blue steel wool
Good luck! Just don't over think it and you should be fine
