Ghost Shrimp Ghost Ship Aquascape

- I never thought I'd be saying it... but in this week's video, I make a sunken ship aquascape! Sure, we've all had one of those tacky plastic boats in a tank. That's not what I'm talking about though.
What would it look like if you made one from natural materials? In theory, it should look much better. I wanted to find out for myself though, so I made one completely from scratch. It took A LOT of work, but it was well worth it.
Enjoy the video and let me know what you think of the build down in the comments!

I never thought I would have made something like this, but I did... and you know what, I really like it! It gives me inspiration to make more builds that are not natural persay. What do you think? What would you want to see next? Let me know! 👇 Have a great weekend SerpaSquad!
what type of tetra did you but in the tank
Panda Tetra - Aphyocharax paraguayensis
Yea I really love this video
@@SerpaDesign thanks
Like my father always told me, " Work smarter, not harder!" Hahaaaa genius idea Tanner. I really love your art work. Your wife is very lucky to share a home with you. I bet not one spot in your home is boring💯💕
Looks sick dude. And don't worry about the hole in the stern of the hull. That's why she sunk :D

The fact he made the boat himself rather than buying one is really impressive. Those shrimp have no idea how much effort went into their home.
This comment made me laugh. Those ungrateful shrimp.
Trust me he would have made the glass of the tank if given the chance….bro can make stuff.
no way... a WHOLE video, without the word "moss" :D Looks amazing and inspiring!
I don't like moss personally
We love the moss 🙄😶🌫️🥰

I think the ship looks a bit too clean yet.
But once it starts to have algae on it the look will be complete
Very creative 🤘
Or by just adding moss😁
@@chamathgamage2206 that would help also perhaps :)
100% agree, this will look even more fantastic as algae starts taking over the ship. Never thought I'd say it, but this will actually look better as the ship degrades XD
@@chamathgamage2206 Yes. That was the moment😆.

Honestly, I usually hate artificial decor, but damn you made it look good in a tank. I’d love to see more, now I’m considering making some of my shrimp into pirates..
It’s because it’s not artificial. He made it himself
@@garticus4426 artificial refers to something made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, often can be a copy of something natural.
@@themute9354 I think he means it doesn't look overly manufactured or like cheap plastic junk.
I'd absolutory love to see further builds with handmade shipwrecks I think its really unique and cool! maybe next time you could do a paludarium where the boat is half out of the water like it was wrecked on some rocks? love the content keep up the amazing work Serpa!
Great idea 💡
I’m real curious how this setup will look in a few months or years!
This is exactly what I wanted to ask :) I found this channel looking for inspiration for my shrimp tank. You are doing amazing stuff and incredible things! I love it. Though I am wondering whether such tank will look so incredible in two years. I do have 120 liters to adopt. I know it is lots for shrimps. But I want to be it more a decoration that breeding tank.
@@michaobara7534 never had a boat in one of my tanks but since it's basically just wood, I imagine the wood on the boat will darken a lot and grow algae. Same for the strings. The sails I have no experience on since, like I said, never had a boat in an aquarium but he said the fabric doesn't break down so I suppose they will just get dirty--similar to white sand. But in my opinion all that will make this tank even better since a sunken ship will start to look weathered eventually so it adds to realism. For the substrate; white sand is hard to keep clean and since there are accent stones sprinkled around you can't just vacuum it and clean it that way. So it will eventually look a bit dirty but that's just the general problem of using white sand. You could switch to natural coloured sand where the "dirtying" won't be noticeably. Or you're just aware of the dirt and accept that the tank won't look as prestige in a few months or even years. I personally like the more "lived in" look in a tank but to each their own.
@@xroyalbloodx or get a few MTS to keep turning the substrate, and it will stay pretty clean looking.
A black water tank with a sunken ship would be epic. Maybe one that cracked in half. Cool design
My 3 year old watches this every night to fall asleep. Keep up the great work! And apparently I'm going to be doing a scape like this too, whether I want to or not, lol.
The blue light just looks so sick with the scape!
A underwater temple for next build would be amazing 😁
I absolutely love how this turned out. The boat actually feels calming in the tank. Beautiful build, simply beautiful.
This was awesome! A tropical version of this would be super cool.
I'm so glade you added bladder snails. I've been trying to figure out what those snails were ever since I grabbed a water hyacinth from a lake and they hitched a ride along with it. Added some of those snails to my mom's lucky bamboo that was getting a lot of slime build up in its water and they cleaned it out and are still in there to this day.
Tanner ; only man in history to build a boat and then be happy that it didn't float !
Still one of my favorite builds. I love your more Natural scapes but I admit I'm a sucker for a dramatic or fantasy element and this just rocks.
Normally I am also a nature aquarium guy but building the boat from scratch really takes it over the top, nice
Stunning! Some glass cats would look awesome in there!
How to aquascape:
Step One - Build a boat.

One of my favorite videos in the last 2 years.
The moving sails kinda give it life, this is such a cool looking tank
I love that the commentary is done mostly during the build process. Nice vid!
Love this.... I could see this working on a large scale too... maybe an 8 foot paludarium/aquarium mimicking a ship graveyard with several wrecks throughout?
You´re a wizard. A truly inspirational channel you´ve created.
Boy, the ship in the aquarium looks great, especially with shrimp! Since they’re bottom dwellers, they really add to the illusion that the ship is at the bottom of the sea.
The modelling hobby has many items for a more realistic boat. Port holes. A wheel, stuff like that. Of course it would be a bit of research to find out if the materials are safe for the animals. Always enjoy these builds.
Tanner, holy sh*t my mind is completely blown by this! You just have a knack for building everything from scratch! 🤯
What a cool aquarium! I love how creative you are. Also, you have such beautiful eyes -- purplish like Elizabeth Taylor's. Your videos are amazing.
This guy literally built a boat from scratch. Awesome!
When i saw the video at firt i was not conviced by the boat. And by the end of it totaly was you did an absolutly amazing job as always!
This is great! I'd love to one where the ship is broken and plants growing through it, you're so creative I'm sure it's possible. Looking forward to see how this ship ages.
And with a skeleton (or 3) "easter egg" for a neat surprise.
We can add woodworker to the list of Serpas many skills. I am always amazed by your talent, creativity and skills.
I love it and I could watch you all day. I have added you to my daily routine so you will be the last person I watch before i fall asleep every night. Great Job!!!!
Wow. Well, I didn't expect you to just make a boat from scratch haha. I thought you'd coat the boat in something. Well done man, it looks great!
What a beautiful scape! Great job!
can't wait to see this one in a few months once the boat ages in :)
Excellent build, one of our favorites (my wife and I watch you with our morning coffee). You have amazing skills.
I love the “here comes dat boy” statue on the lower shelf in the beginning
that rock scape is something else. it's a beautiful miniature. well done.
SerpaDesign Thanks for the epic ghost ship!
I needed to make a Diy fish tank for my ghost shrimp.
I watch your videos for cool Diy fish tanks and i love them.
Your fish tanks made some of my fish live for alot of years.
Alot of fish i have I from your ideas
It's definitely going to be cool to see both the plants take over the ship and as the ship is changed over time much like a real one
This looks great better than I expected. BUT this is the best Chanel on CZcams so I should’ve known.
What an awesome build. I wish I was talented enough to make one of those ships for my 29 gallon. You should make these and sale them🙂
As an aquarist and a wood worker you Made My DAY! Im gonna do this!!!!! Wow! So therapeutic!
I agree! It looks super cool! Serpa Design inspired me to make my own aquarium channel
Looks great! Masterful scaping. Before anything was added except rock and sand it was so perfect. It still is, but that was really good. Well done.
I love how you stepped outside of the box! Gorgeous results!!!
I think it’s awesome. It’s bound to look better the older it gets!
I think it's awesome too! SerpaDesign is one of those who inspired me to make my own fish yt channel! 🐟😄
I am in love with this little boat!!! I think crafting it yourself makes for such a charming display. I’m sure the animals in there will learn to love it too.
You're the God of aquascaping, this tank design is awesome! Stephen Patpal - Bristol, England.
When the gravel went in! Ahhhhh bliss. BTW, I like the sails up, to show the masts.
I'm impressed with the level of skill your tanks demonstrate. The ship looks great, and your choice of livestock fits perfectly.
I think this is my fav tank you’ve ever done
This was a really cool build. Originally I didn't think I'd be interested in a build like this but I decided to watch it anyway and I'm glad I did.
Love how the sails move with the water! Def not cheesy tank decor! Looks awesome!
A sunken city theme would be a really cool idea!!!!
I have no interest in keeping fish or what so ever. But I follow your CZcams because of your creativity and craftsmanship. You have so much talent!
I like you as a Person, and watch your vids 70/30 because of you❤️ youre such a great person
Good lord this is incredible. Tanner continues to outdo himself.
I never thought I'd say this about an aquascape, but I actually liked it better before it was planted! The hardscape was so brilliantly arranged! I could have been looking right at a real wreck.
This is the happiest I've ever seen someone who had a boat that didn't float.
Same! SerpaDesign motivated me to make my own fish channel! 🐟
Ever since I got into the hobby I’ve wanted to do a build like this, it’s cool to see I’m not the only one! :)
Your videos are an inspiration.
Very pretty. I like it best in regular lighting. I could watch an extended view on the tv of this one because it is so charming.
Very cool. I really enjoy the nostalgic feel this set up has. 👍🏼
Amazing this is gonna be my favorite tank or yours can't wait to see how the ship is going to look over time 🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can’t wait for the wear and tear. It will give the scape even more drama! 🏴☠️💀⚓️
This has to be one of my all-time favorite scapes so far!
Geez Louise! You are so talented!!!!
I have a shipwreck in my tank. It took FOREVER to find one that was on the smaller side, that actually didn’t look like it came from toontown, with the right dimensions. This is a really cool idea! The sails are fantastic.
Looks great! I would love to see it again in a year, see how that wood ages!
This is a really great scape!! I wasn’t sure how it would look at the beginning, but it was stunning by the end (of course - how could I have doubted you!). So cool! 🥰
Your creative talent knows no bounds 🎉
as a collector of ships I love this one!
Best build I've seen in a while
Amazing serpa
Love your creativity and how you can turn anything into something sutable for nature
Some real Marling Baits vibes going on here. It's official, ghost shrimp like ghost ships.
I absolutely love the creativity you exhibit in your videos. One thing I'd like to see added is a list of everything you used in the video. I've been wanting to get into aquariums and aquascapes for awhile. Knowing what to buy or even how to clean the tank would be awesome.
Would love to see a update on this tank. It looks amazing
That looks amazing. Really like the roughnes in the texture of the ship..
Just wow the ship looks amazing! If this was for sale I would buy it!
This video is a shopping list for tools I now want! 🤣
Beautiful arrangement, I could sit and look into it for hours!
That looks so cool! Like a shipwreck!
What an amazing build. It just goes to show that when you’re artistic it translates to whatever you do.
Just gorgeous!!
Love this concept, I'm real looking forward to how the boat ages in the tank
Your video just gave me an idea for a shallow tank. What am I saying, all your videos give me ideas. Love it.
this is not the video i was expecting, but it was the video i needed. thank you serpa senpai
That looks wonderful. You took some great leaps in artistic liberty and it resulted in a truly unique and beautiful aquascape. Wonderful job, I love the theme and overall appearance is just *chef's kiss* Magnifique
An abandoned ancient shrine scape would be cool!! Some kind of cool stone statue with stairs leading up to it
I was looking for something for my new planted tank and this video was the inspiration. Thanks for your time and beautiful work.
I agree, PLEASE do some more self made decorations! I have some ideas for my snail paludarium where I have been constructing a rope bridge, and I have some really fun ideas for an underwater scape for my aquatic pets, but I am nervous about what materials to use, and how to achieve certain looks without ruining what I already put together (Like your dilemma with roughing up your boat) so I would love to see some more of these kinda of builds so I can see how you handle some issues, and what you use for what to hopefully get past my creativity block! Keep doing your amazing work, I love it!
I love it.
I mean…. what better way to say it!? 🤷🏽♀️❤️
stunning especially with the red light
Your talent has no limits serpa . amazing work as always. beautiful
Holy crap, I knew you were creative but you just built a boat! Looks great, can't wait to see what this looks like overtime.
This is mindblowing!! Your creativity knows no bounds, it's always impressive!
Love this, looks great.
As you said very different to your normal scape but always good to try new things. As the boat weathers a bit it will look even better. 😊
things you make yourself alway mean more. Turned out great.
Love the simplicity in the details. So stunning! As always you amaze and inspire. Thank you!
I think having the bottom of the sails pinned like that makes it look like they've been reefed, which makes it look like it was sailing through a storm. What a great detail
