    I'm not a scientist, but calling Imperial Chapters (soul drinkers) or Planets (Armageddon) something aggressive is probably going to yield a poor result.

      They should have used Praetorian of Dorn so drop the hint that the Spear was the one originally used by alpharius, and that Dorn tasked the chapter with looking after it, 10k years is more than enough time for “guard this, it’s important” to be misinterpreted as “Guard this, it’s important, and I made it”

    I like how Chapters like the Soul Drinkers actually justify the suspicion and paranoia of the Inquisition towards Space Marines falling to Chaos, it can happen even if the Chapter is almost completely loyal just by taking a few missteps or not fully understanding a situation.

    • @Kareszkoma
      @Kareszkoma Před 3 lety +47

      Orrr... The Astral Claws incident. Pure loyalist, experts even among astarte, defenders of the Imperium. Many great achievements and honors. Well one day they decided to rose above the maximum, by a small number of 5 000 marines. Making them a micro legion, than rebel. Hence the Badab war.
      It's honestly surprising they were able to get this much marine together. However such forces are very hard to put down and leaves other sectors entirely undefended. This is why a full blown Blood Raven Chapter is a problem. Relic items going all around, with an exceptionally large Astarte Psycher force. They are not just Zelous, but also vicious battle hardened veterans who broke chaos forces many times. Not many chapter can stand up against them. If they go Chaos, Emperor help you.

    • @Kareszkoma
      @Kareszkoma Před 3 lety +9

      @@jhonnoilcringeincarnato8593 No, but it does make them very dangerous. 6000 Space Marine can easily overrun an entire sector. Space Marines are rare and they are exceptionally "effective". The moment they start to act like an imperial guard instead of a commando, there isn't any much that can stop them. At best the mechanicum can try to blast their ships apart before they get boarded.
      Don't forget the Astarte was strong enough to threathen everyone, Mars included, into the Imperium. They are very very dangerous.
      Legions like the alpha legion didn't work by clean battle either. The Imperial Guard might have millions of soldiers, but the astarte can behead them and pretty much scatter them.

    • @Kareszkoma
      @Kareszkoma Před 3 lety +15

      @@augustuslunasol10thapostle Also the Dark Angels. Or the Space Wolfs. However.. they are.. who they are. Okay. Not every chapter can do that. It's kind of a "law".
      If you think fucking with the wolfes was a bad idea from the part of the inquisition, well fuck with the Templars. They put the Inquisitors right beside the mutants on their little crusade list, and probably wipe them out by Monday.
      It's not enough that the Templars don't really.. abide to anything. But their numbers are plenty over 6000, sometimes even more, closer to 10 000.
      Originally their things were just "tolerated". But now, the Inquisition cannot do anything against the Black Templars. Their numbers are huge. Unless other Astarte Chapters join against them or the Custodes are sent, the Inquisition can't really do anything anymore.
      Luckily the Black Templars are not really corruptable. That would be a stab the Imperium would probably not recover from.

      To be fair to the Emperor's Children, they only really fell when the magnificent bastard Fabius Bile rewired their brains to connect the pain receptors to the pleasure center of the brain. They would have been perfectly Loyalist had Fulgrim not grabbed the Laer Blade and had Fabius Bile not existed.

    I love the Soul Drinkers books but the setup is beyond silly. The whole thing relies on Sarpedon, who is a Librarian, not recognising that some cultists who worship the Architect of Fate and Sarpedon, who is a Librarian, listening to their leader, taking everything he says at face value _and then_ appointing him as his spiritual advisor. Have I mentioned that Sarpedon *is a fucking Librarian?* He should recognise one of the more common names of Tzeentch when he hears it. I mean it's as if Astartes Librarians know a thing or two about Chaos or something...
