They where saved by a small horde of Orks by some Eldars, while they where purging on the mountains of Rynn, and after being saved by the space elves, they were (supposedly) able to defeat the orks. So Pedro could rebuild his Chapter, only to be destroyed by demons and mega-saved by Ultraberries and GrandadSmurf.

The Crimson Fists were actually because of an Imperial Fist named Kye, who in defiance of Dorn bit open his hand to make it bleed. It was some sort of gang thing from his world. Dorn respected his defiance, and that Kye was basically his unofficial bodyguard. It's all in the book Praetorian of Dorn. Kye would have been chapter master, but he died, so Dorn made the Crimson Fists be the shield, to the Black Templars sword. If you want another good book, Battle for Rynn's World is the one to go to for Crimson Fists.

7:30 My head cannon for explaining this is the Warboss Snagrod sent in ork kommandos so that the Crimson Fist's defense weapons would target their own ships, leaving them open for an attack. Hard to believe? Well, Warboss Snagrod was known for using ork kommandos before invading an imperial world, for example killing off the astropaths on a world so they can't call for help. Warboss Snagrod was a really kunning ork.
That's my reasoning for this random event happening.

Polux has always been one of my favorite Imperial Fist characters. I mean, Polux has the one honor that even Dorn could not claim: Polux befriended an Iron Warrior (loyalist, but still counts), Barnabas Dantioch. While Dorn and Perturabo will get at each other's throats, Polux and Dantioch dropped their rivalry to combat the traitor Night Lords who had their eyes on the Pharos Lighthouse. Sadly, Dantioch would not survive the aftermath of the battle, and Polux would be the lone pallbearer at the loyalist Iron Warrior's funeral.

It always bugged me that Astartes chapters only have 1,000 marines. Just like Rinn's world, a tragic accident or well placed enemy mega weapon would obliterate a large amount of them. 1,000 would be okay for assassins, solo military advisor dudes or spec ops, but not for frontline soldiers. Again, for me, this is another situation whereby it's best to multiply the numbers by 10 at least. Even 30k legions seem too small considering the scope of Big E's ambition and the crazy weaponry/forces arrayed against them.

    Some missed cool details though:
    - The land raider "Rynn's Might"
    - Black Templars and Crimson Fists working together during the Declates Crusade in integrated squads (they painted their armor to commemorate their respect for each other too. Templar would paint one of their gauntlets red, and the Fists would have the Templar cross on one of their knee pads.
    - Captain Alessío Cortez

It’s also fun to remember that Alexis Pollux was so physically huge that he could match terminators in size, I think he was even as tall as them without his armour. That and when he first met Guilliman, Pollux was still severely wounded and recovering after the Phall system conflict and an unhappy travel through the warp that didn’t help matters much, and yet Roboute was still kinda surprised at how he was nearly at eye level with a legionnaire.
In short, the guy was absolutely huge.

PLEASE do Angels Resplendent/Penitent. They are incredibly fascinating Blood Angels successor chapter which has probably one of the most chilling and unsettling developments in the setting. They are part of Dark Coil, series by Peter Fehervari which I can safely say is the darkest side of 40k. And Dark Coil has some other great things like Arkhan Confederates or Last Candle Sororitas.

I recall reading a bit about the Crimson Fist trek across the continent. Basically at one point they picked up a civilian woman along the way who was carrying a child, she went with them but the Chapter Master explained that they can't slow their pace for her.
The woman accepted and kept pace with the Space marines for a considerable distance (can't remember how long but I think around the halfway point) before collapsing from exhaustion unable to keep up.
Only for the Chapter went up to her and said something along the lines of "You carried this child all this way, it is time someone did the same for you." and proceeded to carry the woman and baby the rest of the way.
That is something I always love to see, the nobility of the various characters that shines through the darkness.

I really like the crimson fists. Behind the Lamenters and Salamanders they are one of my favorite chapters. The humanity they show is awesome and leads to some badass moments. One of my favorite moments is when Pedro literally carries a group of civilians despite being under constant ork attack. However he also is constantly torn between helping them or doing the smart move and leaving them behind so the marines can stay ahead of the orks. It is really interesting.

The Soul Drinkers weren't an Imperial Fists successors, they're implied to be the descendants of the lost Legion that was specifically implied to have been destroyed by The Space Wolves for the reason of genetic defects in their Primarch (again this is all implication based on the Horus Heresy Novels and even then there are canon conflicts about the founding date for the Soul Drinkers).
The new Soul Drinkers Primaris chapter specifically uses gene-seed from Rogal Dorn so it's pretty clear that this chapter is more or less a tribute to the OG lost legion...
