- Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! In this video I’ll get to treat matrix opal for the first time, I made sure I had a face shield, gloves, a well ventilated area and a big bucket of bi-carb soda mixed up on hand, everything was safely disposed of afterwards. My trip to Andamooka was cut short due to South Australia going into lockdown, a minor hiccup, not to get in the way. As I learn, not all will treat, and some only partially, but I’m happy with the results, let me know what you think in the comments. Treating brought out some stunning colours
Looks like opalizer marble in some of those semi treated pieces
Beautiful Opals. Nice job. I dont think these would go much darker any which way you try. They are just to nice to start off. I love the way the thin lines have darkened behind the Patterns.. . Also, Im guessing the tunnel you went to was mostly/partially filled in? Unless you army crawl in and out . Either way , Hope you get back there soon and do some more Exploring videos.,,.,. What a Cool place to go!! :D
Will definitely be exploring north side of town more next trip, my claim is south, and is underground so should be awesome.
Is that common for rains to wash the waste back in again?
To an extent it may have been lightly back filled, but yes, when it rains, it can flood. I’ll try and find a link to some footage of that.
@@theopalmills that would be awesome
Here’s a great example of an Andamooka flooding czcams.com/video/FCHBLST1sno/video.html
