  • In today's video, we look at the Laney Ironheart Loudpedal Foundry Series 60W Guitar Amp Pedal and see if its any good for silent stage use.
    There are loads of videos on this pedal where people have plugged it straight into a guitar cab, and to be honest ive been fairly impressed by how it sounds concidering its small form factor, but i havent seen any videos using the DI out of this pedal.
    The Laney Ironheart Loudpedal Foundry Series 60W guitar/amp pedal is going to change your life forever. With two channels, it functions exactly as a normal amp would - but in a much, much smaller format, making it infinitely easier to transport and slot into your rig than a full size amp. And it can be used in multiple different ways. Stick it in front of your current amp and use it as a two-channel gain pedal, plug it directly into a cab and turn it into your amp head, or plug it directly into your PA/interface and use it as your amp and cab! It's unbelievably dynamic.
    This Ironheart amp in pedal form does not sacrifice any tone, despite its size! The three-band EQ lets you sculpt your sound to suit any situation. You'll also be able to go from sparkling cleans to raging distortion by switching between the dedicated channels, and you can tame or unleash the Overdrive channel with the Gain dial. There's even a Boost function built into this machine, so you can help those solos cut through the mix with ease. With a speaker emulated output, you'll get a genuine speaker cab tone when you're going direct into PA or DAW.
    The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

    It's a great sounding pedal. And sparkly cleans are there - with the clean switch in the centre and the gain on zero. It also works really well with modellers into the front end or a pedalboard. Having owned an Ironheart amp head I think it sounds quite close, and the boost is better than the real amp. Perhaps you guys should have tried the amp output too.

    If you're in band that can't bring too much gear when you travel, this thing is absolutely amazing. I don't even bring any other pedals but the tuner anymore, the Boost is good enough for solos and leads. Well done Laney.

    I wish you gave the pedal the time that you seem to have given other pedals you have demonstrated.
    I would have also like to see how it sounded through a cabinet since it is an amp.

    You can use it to go straight into a guitar cab. It does have a power amp output. I'd like to have heard that.
    Spectre Sound Studios thought it was amazing for Heavy Metal.
    Personally, I think I'll go for a second hand Ironheart valve 60w IRT. Even though I suspect they weigh a ton.

    Never seen a review where someone’s gone into it already deciding not to like the product so much. The pedal sounds great in every other video I’ve seen and when I’ve heard it live. The only uninspiring thing in the video is the playing lol

    Great review on the pedal; yes, I thought that James' Laney amp sounded terrific and I am disappointed that the pedal doesn't come close to it. BTW, nice to see Lee with you on your past couple of videos, now that you are in his neighborhood!

      That's always the finishing touch. Hate when they leave this out. Doesn't even have to be a "great" reverb, but just sound like a decent subtle digital plate.

    I run my into a 2x12 Silver Jubilee cab with a Gibson Les Paul. TREBLE AT ONE on regular setting on channel 2! It sounds awesome! It's not a dark pedal. I wish it had more mids on the high gain channel though.
    It's a $189 pedal with a 60W amp, you think they would include a great IR? NO!
    Plug into a cab!

    Seems to me the best use for this is to throw it in a gig bag and then if one is on tour and the backline amp dies then boom plug this in and get through the gig.

    Nice demo. A shame the cab emulation is junk and the amp is uninspiring. Have your tried the Quilter Superblock amp pedals? I’ve seen a lot of positive comments, including on the XLR line out with cab sim.

    Laney says that this Loudpedal can be used as a dirt pedal in front of an amp. It apparently makes squealing noises when you do that. Any ideas?

    I'd love to see what you guys think of the Blackstar amped 2 as a direct to mixer live rig. I've built a direct pedalboard recently and just got it sounding good enough 2 sell my JCM800. I use pedals not a modeller. I'd be interested in what u guys think

  • @slawsonscot
    @slawsonscot Před rokem +2

    I thought it sounded good at points - in part because of the player for sure - but there were moments where it came over sweet and sustaining... but agreed that if you're not using your own IRS then it would be a bit of a disappointment. I'm assuming that you could run the XLR into an IR pedal, like the TC Impulse (which I appreciate would need XLR to Jack conversion), but then the price is increasing to the point that it's probably worth just buying something else!

    • @Docksidestudio1
      @Docksidestudio1 Před rokem +3

      It has an fx loop, you could run an IR pedal thru the loop

    • @slawsonscot
      @slawsonscot Před rokem

      @@Docksidestudio1 that’s a good shout, and I suppose if you already had an IR Pedal then it might be a good option. But possibly not if you’re needing to spend the extra.

    • @grumpyrocker
      @grumpyrocker Před rokem +1

      You could run the XLR into an IR device. Also the FX loop out is suggested in the manual if you want to run the pedal into other things without using the power amp.

    When it's this compact, it's class D. It's incredibly cheap, a full board is a few dollars in China. It's a bargain that the guitar industry has sniffed out to charge an exorbitant amount !
    In front of me I have my proximity speakers powered by a class D amp, paid 15 dollars, next to the NAD amp, has not been turned on for 10 years...

      @@TheStudioRats For what it's worth I REALLY appreciate your honest gear reviews. I have a (British made) Laney Lionheart, a Laney GH30R and a Laney BCC Steel Park Overdrive and love these products, but THIS thing just doesn't seem to sound very good; Especially when you expect it to sound even remotely like an Ironheart IRT60.
