This is the first album where the drummer, Rick Allen, had lost his arm in a car wreck. He told the band to find a new drummer, and they said that it was NOT Def Leppard without him. They would wait for him, so he learned to play with electronics and uses his feet more. Still plays all their songs even to this day, as they are currently on tour.

Jeff rich from status quo helped him on a few small live shows in 1986 leading up to the 1986 monsters of rock show. The band wouldn't let him leave. I know as I'm a true leppard fan. Rick never really wanted to leave.

I can't believe it took so long to notice Rick's missing arm, there were plenty of shots earlier in the video where you could see it. BUT like all American's who react to this song, your reaction to that small detail was great, being able to be a drummer is hard enough to begin with when you have to try and coordinate 4 limbs into playing, but trying to do what everyone else does with 4 limbs when you only have 3 takes an absolute genius. If I ever see the question "who is the greatest drummer of all time" my answer is always Rick Allen because of what he went through and has come out the other side sounding no different to a 4 limbed drummer

White dude here. Sort of reminds me of how I reacted in 1987 when my friend went to Cali and brought back Ice T's first album. Never heard anything like it. Tweeters in my friends truck were throwing so much sound it would blow out a match. Great shit is great shit.

There is a very good reason that those of us who lived through the 80's remember it so fondly... The 80's were awesome for music, movies, and childrens' toys and cartoons.
Look up on CZcams Rick Allen drum solo. It’s amazing watching him play. My daughter who is autistic loves this band and sees the Thunder God as an inspiration to not let anything stop her. We took her for her sweet sixteen to see Def Leppard and Journey in concert.

My FAVORITE Rock band!🥰🎶The drummer Rick Allen had to relearn to play after his accident & the band was all love & patient waiting for HIM to be ready! He’s also a phenomenal Artist with his work hanging in a gallery. ABC has a special interview on CZcams with him. Very cool
When Def Leppard first hit the scene, Rick Allen was one of those "up and coming" talents that people were paying close attention to. He was super young when the band went mainstream (he was like 17 or so when the album "High And Dry" came out).
He's an incredibly talented drummer to begin with....and then you add in (or take away?) the issue of his missing arm....? Please.
The band has had a couple of devastating tragedies over the years, but they are STILL going strong to this day (an interesting read if you're interested).

Rick Allen was 14 when he joined Def Leppard so you know he had the talent from an early age!
"Pour Some Sugar On Me" was SUCH a HUGE HIT when it came out, it was on MTV (when they played videos) hourly, on the radio, you couldn't escape it.... but most of us didn't want to! I've seen them in concert twice since then, they are great. 😊
