- Merry Christmas! We did a lot of Tim Burton movies this year so I thought it was appropriate to do one of his best movies. It also ends on Christmas so it makes total sense that this is our Christmas episode! See what Crystal, @OnceOverwithCayley , and I think of this classic!

"OK, Crystal and Crystal with a deeper voice." 😂🤣
The "overly" violent ending was by design to show that the cruelty and ugliness of the "normal" world was beginning to influence Edward and corrupt his innocence.
Facts
Agreed!
this video was the best christmas present ever
This is the best JoeyC ever
I just realized you should totally cover Weird Science. And Total Recall. Cover Total Recall, "Ya bladded Quaid! Ya blabbed about Mars!"
"Get your ass to mars."
Edward Scissorhands dresses like a cenobite but has the demeanor of SpongeBob Squarepants.
Yes, bc spongebob is very quiet and keeps to himself
@robk.6591 I once heard someone on TV say in effect that if anyone other than Johnny Depp had played Edward Scissorhands he would have looked like a slasher movie villain🤣
I agree with the one comparison but not the other. He has a Sally “vibe” from NitemareBeforeXmas like the character is Sally’s distant relation a la Balkee Bartonomus L0L I wanna see him go to Halloween town like a robot chicken sketch (the concepts ripe for parody!)
Personally I would say it more like he dresses like a cenobite with the demeanor of Chucky Finster 😂
@@donatellod.dabbins3609 far from a “rugrat” although visually the character has a similar unkept hair motif
I like how Cayley lets the hate flow through. Very sith lord-like.
I appreciate more Crystal on Christmas.
I appreciate how hack the movies has previews in the notifications for their premieres for podcasts.
So when are you guys planning on finishing the LotR trilogy you, Joe from Movie Dumpster, and Johanna is probably the best panel combo on this channel. Thanks for the laughs!
I watched edward Scissorhands for the first time since i was a kid recently and heres why i cried my eyes out. The fact that he's an outsider and despite all the good he did. People turned on him because he was different. And not only did they turn on him because he was different but they used that against him when they didn't get what they wanted because he wouldn't oblige them. Like when Joyce wants to fuck him and he says no because he had no clue what was going on but because he ran when he was uncomfortable she gossips to her friends he tried to rape her n shit. 30 years later it really resonates how someone can just make shut up and everyone in that echo chamber believes it without seeing the other side.
The whole world loved him until one little misunderstanding which wasn't even his fault made him mad and his anger was mistaken for evil and everyone who had no I'll will against him just turned on him for no reason blindly without even trying to figure out the truth for themselves. 30 years later it really is a a telling description for how our society acts now a days thanks to things like social media. Hive mind type stuff. It's really scary but I appreciate the comparison with that movie and how people are canceled and ostracized these days for little to nothing of their own faults just because one person may set something off the will ruin someone without understanding...aka the cancel culture we live in. If u go thru the whole movie...by the end the towns people are the epitome of cancel culture these days.
Well said.
This is very sad, yet dark and beautiful Tim Burton fairy tale
Happy holidays from Blue Beetle or something
Man, I love watching this channel. I've tried to spread the word about it, but I'm not sure how many ppl I know are into watching long form reviews about movies. I can watch all day, but the folks I've tried to turn on to Hack The Movies don't have time to watch CZcams like I do. Nonetheless, I enjoy what y'all do and hope the channel continues to grow!
BTW, I saw this movie in the theater with my girlfriend at the time as a Sophomore in high school. We then left and go it on because it was a romantic fantasy movie that made her sentimental! Lol! Oh memories!
Shout out to Cayley. I agree that big tata goth girls are the best.
This is one of my most favorite tim burton/Christmas movies ever!! I love it so much!! Also yay for Cayley and crystal!!
It was shot in a neighborhood called Carpenter's Run, in Lutz, Florida. Specifically Tinsmith Circle was the street. I think one of the houses may have kept the pastel paint on the exterior. I know bc I was about 8 years old when they were filming it there. It's where my childhood home is located and where I grew up. I remember going to see it as a family when it came out and we stayed till the end of the credits to see the special thanks to the residents of Carpenter's Run. A lot of good memories attached to that movie. And no, the castle never existed there, it was filmed elsewhere. Only thing there at the time was an empty lot.
It was interesting to see Johnny Depp, Winona ryder, and Anthony Michael Hall play against type in this movie. The look of Suburbia was pretty cool. Vincent Price was great.
The father is the best character. He portrays an American father, at least when I was growing up, the most accurately of any movie. Didn't do the cliche "stay away from my daughter!" thing.
Cayley and Crystal are very beautiful ladies. They should be on the show more often.
My GODD, Cayley is the ultimate package. Gorgeous, intelligent, well-spoken, reserved and that sultry voice....be still my foolish heart
Flubber holds a special place in my heart. It came out the day after I was born and when my family got me the VHS tape of it. My sister and I would watch it on repeat 😂
Oddly enough I can sleep to the DVD menu music on John Carpenter's The Thing, love how Crystal is wearing a The Witch's shirt and MERRY CHRISTMAS guys and all the best for 2024
"There's nothing to do in Rochester" might be the most indisputable statement ever made.
Surprised no connection was made between Anthony Michael Hall leading the angry mob in this AND in Halloween Kills. “Evil dies tonight” or did he mean - “Ed-vil dies tonight” ?!?!
Aaron Carter's 2nd little sister died 2 days ago. That's 3 out of 4! 😳
4th and 5th Grade in my school we had semi-weekly show and tells that were mostly to hide report writing and lack of current events in our small town
Another GREAT episode in the bag.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to Crystal, Tight📦 and Very Famous & Very Important T. Also, I don't buy what that potatoes selling 4a second, we ALL know you're at least 80 to 90% Italian 🍕🍝
Now this is my kind of Christmas present. Heck the movies video with Cayley and Crystal.
Cayley is a smokeshow 😘
Can we all appreciate how beautiful Crystal is?
She looks like if Beth Stern looked even more like that creepy cartoon wolf from Droopy or Tom and Jerry or whatever cartoon it was.
One likes her, one doesn't....hey one goes this way and one goes that way, hey ho hey yahhhh
@@CNYKnifeNut show some respect or leave
Another movie with a waterbed: Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown.
classic perfect for tony for tony to review
Thank you for giving your time to entertain us on Christmas!
The video was quite uninteresting, but Crystal idea of living in snow white hippie style got my attention, literaly that makes me interested in buying a house in middle of wood. Such vision of Crystal is worth every money :O
Ed Wood is correct answer
Don't forget Bed Knobs and Broomsticks!
Good movie, good co-host, good job T-Bone. Merry Christmas 🎁
Happy belated birthday Crystal! 🎂
God damn lmfao straight up asking Cayle if she was trans lol 😍🤣😂!!! I mean alot of people are wondering but that was so straight up!!!! Also Edward Scissorhands is a cult classic. Great episode and thanks Cayle for taking that question so calmly and badass.
I love Cayley’s voice 🙂
Maybe the inventor invented baking powder. Because Vincent Price's grandfather was the actual creator of baking powder. Dr. Price's Baking Powder.
This is one my favorite movies. But I think Burton's best movie is Big Fish. Edward, favorite. Fish, his best.
God Crystal is so funny🤣
The film is so good that I hope they don't try to remake it.
Tony don't bring your mom on a roller coaster 🎢 your heart dropped when she told you that your out of the will lmao
In my opinion, Tim Burton's masterpiece is Sleepy Hollow.🦇👻🎃🖤
Beetlejuice is his best movie
Amen brother! One of my favorite movies of all time.
We love Crystal!
Haha I just went to that mall the other day! Pretty wild!
Always kinda liked this movie, but havent seen it in forever.
Great episode as always. Cheers and Happy New Year everyone at Hack The Movies!
It’s hard to pick out Tim’s best film. Almost all of his movies are pretty damn good and clever. I don’t know about you, but I never get tired of watching his stuff. I’ve watched Big Fish and Beetlejuice many, many times, and I’ve watched Batman over and over again back in the day. His style of making each film unique as well as having emotional depth, makes his work something you can watch time and time again, and it never gets old.
hes like 50/50 cmon
@@coreytrayn 50/50!? Tim Burton has most of the liveliest characters in cinema history! Show some respect!
@@ThomasDrish yeah about 50/50
Everyone keeps saying the Burton Batmans haven't held up, but outside the new movie they're my favorite versions of the character for live action. Plus ya know, they inspired the tone and feel for the animated show, only one of the best superhero shows ever made.
14:24 That's the first thing that came into my mind when I heard Cayley talk 🤔lol
metoo... still didn't really get an answer!:)
@@scottmcclary594 I'm sure its a woman she just got a really deep voice lol
The cookie cutter town they live in was supposedly a dig on santa clarita, the location of Burtons alma mater, Calarts. I live there, so I can agree. 😂
I love they're reactions on 1:32:35. Especially, Cayley! 😍💞💕
Happy Christmas
EVERYONE LOVES THE ACCLAIMED
@OnceOverwithCayley is a beautiful person.
What did he invent?! He invented a cyborg with living tissue over a hyperalloy endoskellaton. He invented a sensitive corky terminator with no prime objective. 😂 that's how he paid for that castle on that land in pertuity.
Batman and Batman Returns were still far better written than the trash Nolan gave us.
too many people hate batman killing, batman kills in both batman and returns and in begins he literally blows up a temple full of people yet has his code to not kill, then kills dent in dark knight of course to save a kid but just pisses me off all the haye afleck caught when Keaton batman killed when nessesary as well...
Lies Of P brought me here
As a fellow Italian, I'll vouch for your authenticity Tony. Just place a bottle of J&B on the store counter and the doubts will go away.
2 great fall to sleep movies for me are Labyrinth and Heavy Metal. Try it.
TONY'S TEENS WERE BAD
HIS 20s WERE GOOD
HIS 30s WERE BAD AGAIN
BUT VFTONYFROMHACKTHEMOVIES' 40s BOUT TA BE STURDY
Is that Joey C. in a wig?
What does Tony have against Avon? 😂
I'm kinda with Cayley, and I don't think Scissorhands is bad, it introduces a lot of his directing tropes and they work fine there but start to get a little less charm and annoying in later movies. Tony said it perfectly, most of the live action stuff after Big Fish were kinda lame. Charlie, Dark Shadows, Alice, Dumbo, and Ms Peregrine's who cared about those? Big Eyes seemed interesting but I never hear anyone talk about it
okay new video idea
all the new super delayed sequels, lets get a poll going. We already got the crew to watch all the home alones, clearly we have power we aren't abusing
Tony you are really brave props to you man props lol.
1:21:10 - Bingo. Along with this being a quasi-autobiographical story of Burton growing up as an "outsider" in 60s suburbia, it's also a satire of the conformist nature of suburbanites.
Loved this movie as a kid it used to get shown on tv as an adult still holds up well im surprised and i really hope it doesnt happen hasn’t been targeted for a remake/reboot jhonny depp was great as edward how the character goes from its dark gothic like surrounding to a bright coloured suburban area hes seeing the outside side world for the first time the music was great
I didn't notice the suburbia feeling 60s because the gaudy colors reminded me already of my Hispanic neighborhood at the time
I see that Detroit Rock City vhs in the background Tony when are we gonna get a review on that lol
Tony takes the time to stack up a bunch of Christmas films on the counter for the episode but leaves out the best Christmast movie of all time. Fake movie love confirmed...
Got this movie on dvd 📀
also, Sweeney Todd is one of the few musicals I actually enjoy lol cuz usually musicals annoy me when there's too much singing
Nothing wrong with Cayley's voice. People are lame.
Cayley > Mint Salad
How DARE you!
It's a good movie but I think critics would say Ed Wood is his best movie, not just in the way it's directed but as a unique character study.
Crystal and Cayley could almost be sisters.
Insult to Cayley
Be less dick
This was the first movie to ever make me tear up.
I wonder how this squad would feel about Benny & Joon.
1/1 Aaron Carter's met Crystal Quinn AND DIED.
HOW ARE WE NOT TALKING ABOUT THIS???
19:15 review actually starts. Skip to this if you know Tim Burton"s history and Tony's history 😅
Where is The Return of the King? Is that still coming for its 20th anniversary.
Just did a community post
that's how everyone uses scissors
I'm a patron Tony, the new Jay and Silent Bob is great. And the new Bill and Ted fuckin slaps!!!!!! "Dennis Caleb McCoy"
His best movie was ed wood
Do the pink Mary Kay cars still exist? I remember seeing those all over the suburbs in the 90s
Hot take:Edward Scissorhands and The Blind Side are the same story.
I've been meaning to ask, but is that red VHS with the large 666 a film based on the novel 666 by Salem Kirban? I found that novel at a Goodwill a few years back. It's an outrageous story about the end of times that can only be told in the way an insane fundamentalist can tell. Stupid fun read!
33:20 The South
Tony - when is the alien 3 episode dropping?
Like a year and half ago
so funny! I agree with Casey. I like some of Tim Burton's movies but a lot of them including this one I could care less for
Tony I relate to you. Let’s go get us some mommy milkers
I can't believe you went the whole episode and never referenced The Barber episode of Seinfeld.
funny as hell caylee was asked if she's trans, and my brains thought the same when first seeing her but its just because she's built like amazon any bigger woman tall and big is gonna apear a bit manly but its ok cause your gorgeous caylee
I definitely thought she was trans as soon as I saw her so when Tony asked that question I thought it confirmed it lol
PS
Dogs RULE
I like Mint. I like her on the show.
*
I'm serious and this isn't reverse psychology. I like her on the show.
That dude in chat really was saying some dumb crap lol.
Lol i do want to see this review.
