    I often hide the Badminton shuttle when the other is about to win. I just put hide it in my bag and leave.

    Rule 1 AND Rule 6 together doesn’t make sense to me. Either it is 1.15 or below the waist.
    1.15 already prevents from downward swing since the net is at 155/154. Bringing back the waist rule defeats the purpose of rule 1, sine very small players whose waist is below 1.15 would have to sever lower.

      This might help Kids to get into the routine of serving below waist, else they might need change their technique once they grow up.

    Question, one forward fluid motion or one fuild stroke. I see alot of players wind back, hold for a second then push forward which is insanely annoying.
    I'm a fast server/swinger so if I start doing that it'll probably be classed as cheating ha.

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      You can wind back but not hold after that. It must follow with a continuous forward stroke. This is the start of service. You can turn your wrist during the forward motion for a flick, turn for sideway direction, slice to create spin, drive the service all done under the 1.15m height rule. No sudden stop during forward motion.

    Hi I have a question if you could help, please.
    Can you look away while you are serving? I see some people do it, and the receiver can’t figure out if the server is ready or not because they were looking away while serving. I can’t seem to find this information anywhere else. Thanks!

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      Yes, you also can suddenly raise yourself on toes to look taller but service still under the 1.15m height rule. Your duty as a receiver is to look at the shuttle and nothing else.

    In doubles, can we serve from outside the box, I e. Standing on the extreme right or left side outside box to create an angle

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      Yes, this is an old position method using the drive base on forehand serve. Done correctly, it forces the opponent to return in an awkward position. It also opens up your court side completely to be defended by your partner alone.

      @randy98. Před 3 měsíci

      You have to at least hit the cork. When you hit the feathers, it is also a fault

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      Yes, no fault at all so long when you strike the shuttle it is the cork.

  • @nandaramesh
    @nandaramesh Před 4 měsíci

    Axelson had advantage with old rule. New rule is disadvantage to talk player. It was not clearly stated. Also does anyone know how long can a server take after getting into ready stance before hitting the shuttle? Rule book if found only says reasonable time. But what is considered unreasonable?

    • @JLneonhug
      @JLneonhug Před 4 měsíci

      Subjective. Ethically, it's no pause. Tactically, there's incidences where server waits 2-4 seconds in the ready position before a serve.

    • @nandaramesh
      @nandaramesh Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you. I typically wait for a second or 2. But I feel they should make some rules. In sports, you can't hold someone over ethics. Even with poor sportsmanship you can criticize a player but it's not a fault. @@JLneonhug

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      The rule book say receiver must get ready to receive serve but does not say server must serve once he/she sees receiver is ready. There is much debate over this, and no single answer address it. It is easier for receiver to be ready. The server has to watch where he/she stands (avoid shoe on-line), position shuttle and racket, steady himself/herself then commence service, all this while breathing heavily after a long rally. So, while it was good for the server, many would use the opportunity to delay serve. Could it be because of big price money? Before Super Series do we see many doing such antics?

    In doubles, Service from the side boxes are legal or not 🤔
    If it's legal, tell how to receive it 🙏

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      It is legal. It was an old method using the forehand drive serve. If you are very good in your backhand drive, flick, or even smash, you return to the far corner as they have open up their court to be defended by only one player.

  • @ongkimchoon7383
    @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

    There is no advantage for taller players be it Victor Axelsen or NBA basketball players. It is still 1.15m measured from the floor.

  • @amudhanbakthavathsalu5308
    @amudhanbakthavathsalu5308 Před 4 měsíci

    below the waist rule does not apply when 1.15 applies..it does not make sense.. at all. so if a person only is about 5 feet .. they can still do it just at 1.15 ..they dont have go below waist..

    excellent reminders about valid 🏸 serves. thank you!! in our club, we have a couple of forehand servers, which have been accused of illegal serving by the opposition. can you illustrate a few more badminton forehand illegal serves? would change in speed of the back swing to the forward swing mean it is an illegal serve?

    • @ongkimchoon7383
      @ongkimchoon7383 Před 17 dny

      If the back motion of racket head was deliberately slow and forward was normal, it can be regarded as a fault as there was deception, but the rule book does not have a clear description on that particular action and is left to the Umpires, who likely would keep silent as he/she has no explanation if he calls a fault.
