- Apple is about to show off their 10th anniversary redesign for the Apple Watch with new bigger sizes at 45 and 49mm, making them the biggest Apple Watches yet, as well as a brand new case design, new magnetic band system, new blood pressure monitoring, and possibly the first Apple Watch that can run Apple Intelligence giving it a huge powerup with ai features.

I just don’t see how the magnets would be strong enough…if you hit it on something it could fall off your wrist
Also how would it work with non trailoop straps? And how fast/easy can you take it off?
Snatchers will love this new design...
Imagine surfing with it..
💯
Swimming becomes a problem too. If they had shallower grooves with magnets it would make sense but a purely magnetic solution seems too loose
I’m getting an Ultra 2 tomorrow. I’m personally not a fan of the supposed new design of the AW 10. I’ll obviously be sticking with the Ultra 2 for at least the next five years.
I made the same move last month for the same reason. I didn’t want my bands to be useless, so it was just time to get a Series 9 and rest easy.
Design isn’t even out lmfao what are you yapping about
The Ultra is awesome! The scuba diving functionality is top notch.
I got the ultra 1 and won’t update until the new ultra can give us at least 48h to 72h of battery. You’ll love the Ultra is amazing. Specially if you are a runner.
@@CrunchyMindright 😂 they don’t even know what it look like
I think Apple will also release SE 3 with Series 9 body so Apple can keep on Selling the 41mm version of it.. because I don’t see Apple ditching the “older design” anytime soon..
I waited for these leaks to come out before deciding whether to wait. I didn’t. I ended up buying the Series 9. I’m very happy with it.
I’m excited about a thinner watch and a general design refresh, to upgrade from my 7.
Wtf. 41mm was already too big. I guess I'll never get an Apple watch.
they may just retain the size as they always have...only the screen size will change by minimizing black borders further...like they did from 38mm to 41mm to 42mm...the apple watch remain in size.
@@PSy84 Well if that's the case then I would really prefer they keep the screen the same size and shrink the whole watch around it instead. I don't want to wear an iPhone on my wrist.
I’m thinking about getting one, but I might get the Ultra 2 before the new models come out.
I like the thought of a new design I have a few doubts about magnetic bands, can you imagine catching it on something and it falls off crashing face down on the cement? Ouch 😮
I am still using an AW Series 4 that I’ve had since launch. I’m gonna wait for a future ultra model to see if the battery life and screen size increases and if there are any significant new health features.
Apple Watch Series 4, 5, and SE (1st gen) will be unable to run WatchOS 11. You need a Series 6 or later to run it. You’ll still get security patches, but no more major software updates. If that’s fine for you, go for it, but if you want newer features I would say to just upgrade the watch sooner rather than later. Many things have changed since Series 4 and I think you’ll be impressed with current and upcoming offerings.
I have a 5.5" wrist. I can't wear anything bigger than 41mm. So it looks like I won't be able to wear Apple watches anymore. I have no idea what Apple is thinking. I'm not unusually tiny, by any stretch. I have a standard sized Small wrist. There will be many men and women who can't wear these watches any more. So, given that, I don't care what Apple does with these watches. Thanks for the video.
Sucks to be you
Its not even just a you problem, a lot of men dont realize they look terrible with these 45+ mm watches that look like shoes 3 sizes too big. The things you wear have to fit your body, guys.
I feel your pain! I’m a small AW wearer myself because I’m a man with slender wrists. I was hoping Apple would have released a 45mm Ultra 2 in black titanium (which in theory would be roughly the same case size as a 41mm AW) but they didn’t, so I got a 41mm Series 9 in graphite. Too many rumored changes in Series X for me to have waited for a future one.
I wanted a normal sized 43mm ultra but instead we got the entire lineup bumped up to kids toy size and the "small" got axed.
Same thing with Huge IPhone. I’ll be using 5.4” mini till they come out with something that will fit pockets not a backpack
Magnetic bands would be a deal-breaker for me. Too easy for someone to snatch it off.
Greg, if you wake up feeling tired/drowsy, try getting a CO2 monitor. If your room is not properly ventilated then the CO2 levels can rise up very quickly and this makes you feel drowsy and can even give you headaches etc. You might need to install ventilation in your house. Also just opening a window doesn't do much, you need active airflow.
What strap have you got on your ultra?
My wrist doesnt get bigger every year, Apple. Stop it. 38mm was already large enough, then it became 40, then 41, and now 45?
38mm was amazing. Seriously wish they offered that size still
FYI, the 38mm watch is still the same size..only the screen changed.
@@PSy84 not true those measurements correspond to the height of the case according to every source online
@@RiqMoran What source? Give source.
@@ekingorgu google the watch dimensions. Any series. The results will be measurements of the case, not the screen.
What would be interesting is tiny power banks built into a premium class of these new wristbands; charging analogous to iPad Pro via its Magic Keyboard.
what about those interchangable bands which has some functions meaning the band is not a adummy band but can do some functions
Wow can’t wait new Apple Watches
When is it coming out? It will be my first watch
Would need a whole design, hopefully new band won’t fall off!
It won’t, unless the band is to small for your wrist it will be fine, although I am worried about if this new band system will make stealing Apple Watches just one tug away
I just got my ultra 2 back in march it doesn’t seem like this new watch will be much better but who knows I think the Ultra series will remain strong for a while
Can i use the new strap with iphone 13 mini?
I wish they could make it look circular. Or flat with thin bezels like the ultra
On a magnetic band what is going to keep someone from grabbing the watch and running off?
They have brilliant engineers I’m sure they’ve figured it out.
I don’t mind a small increase in size but I wear the 41mm and chose it as I don’t want a huge watch on my skinny wrist.
Also not sure about the magnetic band but will wait and see.
Definitely need to have a chip that can handle intelligence or at least smarter Siri. Can’t see us getting an M1 powered watch though 😳
I’ve been waiting for a redesign. This might be the moment I finally treat myself to an Apple Watch.
what about the blood oxygen level? that apple lost the lawsuit for
Yes, I think Apple Watch X needs AI Siri. Having AI Siri on the watch might as well be the biggest game changer for the anniversary model of the watch.
⌚️ Agreed!
maybe Apple Watch ultra retain de band mechanism, because for the nature of the device, the magnetic mechanism can fail on specific circumstances, but who knows!!!
Apple Watch should've be the first to get Apple Intelligence. Maybe, it's such a huge release, they will keep the features for the Apple Watch on release day?
5:04 I mean Samsung has had this tech for years but it hasn't pasted the FDA yet... Likely because it will drift and give you a false reading and not alert you of it... Despite needing to be calibrated every month... Like I was using it to Montier my blood pressure... and it got me in trouble fortuneatly I go to the doctor's alot so I knew to check it at home with my wrist one which has never been wrong... And my Galaxy 6 classic was off 30 points... and did not ask to be recalbrated.... So yeah I would be cearfull with apple's version especly if you don't neeed a decated Blood pressure machine to use it.
Apple Intelligence directly on the Apple Watch would require additional silicon and reduce uptime on a single battery charge. But if you happen to also carry an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, perhaps the watch could serve as the human interface.
The new magnetic band system makes me leery. Seems might be easier for theft off the wrist if pulled hard enough or snags on something and come off. Could just be me.
I dont want a bigger watch lol, it needs to be significantly smaller, like normal watches are. 😢
You know, I really have to hand it to you. You have really become one of my favorite Apple channels and you’ve come a long way. Thanks for your content and all you do and for sticking with this.
I just want a flat display to be able to use a glass screen protector!!!!
If you extend out a bar from the watch similar to the bar on the band and have a hollowed out part on the band and still use magnets, still sliding it on, it's the same as now just the hollowed out connecter is on the band, you still slide it on so it can't be pulled off. You're just swapping connectors, so seems the same, design might be off, you need to prototype a few. Honestly there are lots of ways to do it, the current system uses too much of the watch.
Thanks! Now I’m 1000% sure of getting a Garmin Fenix 7 pro
We still need a 41mm watch, tech is more sophisticated the smaller it can be made. I always buy the smaller watch now, it feels more futuristic.
😂
@@Thatdamnsmith 12 likes says im not the only one
Blood pressure? Heck yeah
If you want better heat distribution, better chips able to use AI on board. You need nore ram, makes perfect sense for the size increase to me.
Running apple intelligence locally on the apple watch is a pipe dream with the current tech
I saw one in the shop, The band was Rainbow but I couldn't get it too expensive.
You saw what in a shop? AWX (10) is not out yet and won't be until mid-September.
@@same5952 i swear i saw it it was like a bit long and had lots of apps and the band was like a thread or smth and has lots of colours
@@same5952 i saw it some shop in morrsreet uk
Will stick with my Ultra 2 for a few more yet
I agree I think ai would be nice for Apple Watch. I’d rather get FaceTime camera inside though it’s really the only product without a camera inside
I honestly need them to do a redesign on the Apple Watch because I’m losing interest in buying one in the future, the battery life is terrible and it also feels like it could be so much more than what it is and has been for too many years.
Magnetic bands come from the same team they gave us the Fine Woven case
The proposed new band mechanism will not work, for those that use their watch for sport, in the gym etc al. For a magnetic band to work, when engaged in sport etc, the magnet will have to be super super strong. If it isn’t? We will have cases where the watch keeps falling off your wrist and potentially being damaged.
I have the same concern, but I'm sure Apple took this into consideration and will have some sort of locking mechanism.
Thanks Greg, as always,, I think they didn't talk about the AI capabilities in the apple watch because it's important enough to make it it's own special announcement when they upgrade.
They need to seriously up their battery game or I have to go garmin. My SE 2nd gen barely makes it through a day now.
Apple watch fans are lucccckkkkkyyyyyy. I want the next galaxy watch but i cant wait!!
Apple should keep the 41mm for people with small wrist sizes.
The only thing which matters is much longer battery life like 4-5 days.
This is what I’m waiting for being a current Ultra 1 owner 😅 I want to see the X and Ultra 3. The Ultra should get satellite access
I bought my first smart watch, the S9, a few days ago. I’m not one for changing tech often but if the health features make a significant jump then for the first time in my life, I’ll get rid of ‘new tech’ for the latest tech.
Damn ! I thought apple actually announced this . Had to go check the website :)
Well, it's a non starter since you still have to charge it every night. What are they thinking of. I have a 39 dollar smart watch that I charge every 14 days whether it needs it or not. No, not as smart as the Apple watch but if you're traveling charging the watch every few hours is a real pain.
I personally use the SE2. I just use my watch to run and listen to music
I just hope apple’s next year smart ring is as good as this year’s apple watch 😅
Hopefully they just make the bezels smaller and the screen bigger rather than make the whole watch bigger
Where's the usual Don’t Be Fooled!
Who cares about the old bands or people’s collecting issues, this is progress. I can’t wait!
Nice video
It is more likely for Apple to try hand off the AI to the iPhone and then present it to you on the Apple Watch. More than an NPU, a device that runs a local model would require a lot of RAM and storage. The limited RAM in the standard iPhone 15 is a contributing factor as to why it doesn't get all the Apple Intelligence features. I don't see how they get all of that into a highly energy sensitive device like an Apple Watch.
New health tracking will be the only way that I am going to update for my current Apple Watch 6.
I’d say 43mm and 47mm would be perfect sizes for both small and big wrists respectively. Anything bigger than that would really look awkward.
What chip set could bring Siri and Apple Intelligence into the ⌚️ Apple Watch? 🤔
Even the IPad Air now has a 13 inch model! 😳
I want like a 3" watch. Maybe even a whole ahh iPhone 4 on my wrist.
I think I’ll be upgrading. On a Stainless Steel Series 7 bought when released in 2021, but only 77% battery health.
I’m still using a Series 4 😂
@@michaelhall9146 good watch, disappointing that they've dropped OS support for WatchOS11
I got a series seven at the same time, same battery health too lol I also wanna upgrade
My series 7 cellular 83%. That’s a pain too.
Apple is engaged in a legal battle with Masimo over the blood oxygen sensor because Apple violated Masimo's patent. Will Apple be able to release an oximeter this year or have they managed to create one themselves that no longer has any connection with the masimo one?
I don’t think the sizes will be that large, the size is part of the reason to buy an ultra, but who knows Apple has surprised us before
if apple changes the strap system it would shock me. 45mm for the small size seems unrealistic.
I didn't realize I had sleep apnea until I got older. I snored and never ever felt fully rested, no matter how much sleep I got. Or if I did, it was the rarest of occasions. However, I wear the breathing strips and they tend to help a bit with the apnea for sure. Until they invent a machine that is quiet and non-obtrusive I'll never get one of those CPAP machines.
Shit, I have 191 OEM watch bands… I’m already sad, I’ve updated every year ;-/
“…final change (to watch bands)” - I imagine over thenext say 1,000 years there will be more changes and nothing is ever final
Im only commenting to acknowledge the Resident Evil 4 drip. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
If the Ultra gets a bigger screen, I have to upgrade after only a year.
The analog watch scene is all about smaller watches right now… I guess Apple is anticipating the next trend? … 🤷🏻♂️
Update - Band changes are not happening
Those leaks are believed to be fake by an insider
Size will be bigger
Shape will change
Not the bands
They new strap mechanism, if we get it, will definitely not rely purely on magnets. They watch would fall off in so many scenarios. I bet when they say a magnetic system, they mean a magnetic clasp or something. Like the magnets do not directly hold the band in place, they hold the clasp in place and the clasp physically prevents the band from coming off. I'm sure they will come up with something smart and effective.
I'm waiting for an update to the Ultra (I have the Ultra 1st gen). Not just a new CPU or brighter screen. I want to see 5+ days of battery life in regular mode and 7+ days in low power mode and I want the ability to use the touch screen even when it is wet (OnePlus was able to do it with their phone so why can't Apple do it on their most expensive adventure watch?). I am also still waiting for legit mapping on Apple Watch. I know they have added trails into the maps app and the ability to make your own trails but I want GPX functionality and the map to be built into the workout app so I can easily switch between the map and other data. Ideally I would be able to see the map, HR, distance, time etc all on the screen at once. This is possible with WorkoutDoors and Apple needs to copy this functionality.
I’ll just stick with the Ultra 1 until the battery starts to fail me.
Exactly, no need to listen to all these utubers , all the watches are just the same…
Slow turning into the iPipboy Pro
i just want a flatter screen so 3rd party companies can make a tempered glass because i just couldnt afford to buy a stainless steel lol
Yeah, some cheap watches for $120 have sapphire glass yet apple watch and iPhones don’t. Just tight
@@cw3728 right? like damn i get it for the phones since sapphire can crack easily but for the watches its just scratch city
I’m excited about the series 10 I had no clue that the series 10 was going to be 49 MM I thought that was just on the I watch ultra no I’m very excited very very excited. I was thinking that I was going to do the I watch ultra too, but now that the series 10 is coming out with a 49 MM design why would I want to get the I watch ultra
they need to just make the battery life better first.
Is the "radical redesign" in the room with us right now?
can´t really believe that they will change to a magnetic conection. It´s not safe enough!
Aren't the existing watches already probably too big for some people anyway?
I’m glad I just bought the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Will blow the c out of the water. Still. Bands are plentiful for years
I have a small wrist, I hate chucky watches
Time to workout that forearms 🎉
Womp Womp
same but i have the ultra 2, might switch to the x if the battery life is good
So I can FaceTime (video chat) on my Apple Wearable like Batman and the Power Rangers soon correct? 😂
Magnetic band connectors why is the first place my mind goes is dropped and lost watches.
I hit my wrist on rocks in fast moving rivers.. I don’t think the magnetic band will work for me
Magnets will be breaking bands and dropping watches left and right.
I wish they’d calm down on making these things bigger. I am in the market and I don’t think I want the big size right now. Imagine if that size was the standard. I’d like my watch to just be an accessory.
Magnetic band won't work. If you hit your watch against something or someone, it will fall off
You don't know that. I'm sure there will be safety mechanism in place so it doesn't happen.
Right! Especially for “Ultra” which is used for outdoor or rough activities? How will this hold up? 😬🙂↔️
I hope the bigger watch could reach 20hours battery life😂
I remember when all these rumors came around for the series 7 and all the leakers were wrong and it didn’t even come out the way they thought.. I bet this will be same with new Apple Watch.. People think it’s going to be this out of this world of innovative tech but let’s be honest that’s not gonna happen this is apple lol
Yes, and no, I see your point but people were probably getting bad leaks for the series 7. I mean the design did get changed a little bit for that one didn’t it? It didn’t pan out as crazy as people thought for that generation.
@@HearMeLearn yea it was rumored by several big leakers that it was more than likely gonna be a flat screen and at the last moment it was released as the way it is. Apple has some great innovation with tech it just seems to be lessening every year.. Don’t get me wrong I love apple and that’s all I wear but they release stuff and come to find out android has had similar for several years already..
@@NickBerry-870 they know that they sell a lot even if the new version isn't that different, so they save crazy features for as long as possible before they actually do it. I think for the series 7 though they were releasing fake updates about it to certain employees for them to try to find out who the leakers are inside the company
@@HearMeLearn yea that could be but they better start releasing some good features cause people tired of the stale apple updates.. That makes sense they would do that cause there is always big leakers talking about big features but when update happens well not so much lol 😂..
just spent $400 on Nomad Titanium RIP my purchase
BIGGER WATCH SOUNDS AWESOME MORE SCREEN MORE BETTER!!!!
It wouldn't make sense for Apple to have a redesign, a new sensor, and AI all in one generation! This year they'll do the redesign, next a new sensor, and the year after that AI.
