Charles makes a good point: if Cardano is truly decentralized, it's not his responsibility, or IOHK's to pay for integration into Circle. Gary Gensler is watching and waiting for this project to make a wrong move.
Exactly. If the community wants to waste an ungodly amount of capital on USDC, then they can use Catalyst to do that. There’s wisdom in crowds, which I suspect means they won’t.
I don't like your presuming & then broadcasting, that Circle is coming to Cardano as if it's a done deal. Isn't this a decision the Cardano community as a whole must take? Also, I don't understand why Circle is considered a stable coin because it is backed by the US dollar. That's laughable, since the dollar, subject to inflation every time the Fed prints more money, & as our
National debt spirals out of sight, loses value rapidly. It gets even worse for US citizens & Cardano investors. Our prospects for prosperity & financial freedom fade even more rapidly as the US government, WITHOUT our consent, prepares, even as we speak, to take us into the dystopian world of CBDCs. Circle will be one vehicle the government will use to accomplish this. The first freezable asset on Cardano will clear the way for others.. we don't want our assets to be frozen.. Centralized coin that can be frozen by one company is just a badly designed crypto. Why introduce a faulty product on Cardano and pay for it?
USDC needs the ability to freeze assets on layer 1 so its not compatible with Cardano. I don't want to add that function. Lets try USDM first before we throw away what we built here.
Where you get your information from? I probably know .0001% about crypto. Every time I think I grasp something on it, I find something new and feel like I’m at level zero again.
Read their documentation stated there in plain english. They reserve the right to BLACKLIST wallets and freeze assets in any wallet! USDC would be a total failure for CARDANO that has done everything right until now... slowly but surly! @@Timas_Arya

$10 million is such a small amount of money to invest. If this opens up on and off ramps and allows for real interoperability, it's a no-brainer to me. If this helps attract more Dev's (not sure how this works), and the confidence you mentioned, why are we hesitating?... let's go!
This is why Cardano is the most decentralized PoS network. This is why On-chain Governance (voltaire) era exist CIP-1694 is going to be huge!

Please be respectful with your comments. We are all just trying to discuss the pros & cons of this issue to get as broad an understanding of what will be best for our community. I think it would be really helpful to this process if each of us would not simply state our opinion, but also give reasons & some evidence to support them. Then it would enhance the learning & understanding that we are trying to gain together from a wider & deeper field of factual information. Sorta of like being oracles for each other. We'll get better at this as we go. Let us be calm, respectful, & patient in the process.
With the amount of projects funded that failed, an wasted funds, it doesn’t make sense not providing funding for usdc

I don’t know that Charles needs to do anything but help set the framework, perhaps. I’ve always thought there was a fund to encourage development. So if we can fund 20 failed projects, a proven project should not be a challenge.
I am in for USDC! New stablecoin projects can launch but I will wait until I feel comfortable trusting my hard-earned money to these new projects. It's all about my own risk management. USDC for better or worse is needed at this stage. No need to antagonize people who need to secure their stablecoin savings.
This is what catalyst is meant for in my opinion. I'll even donate a months worth of staking rewards to the cause

Charles is right, it is not his responsibility. It is also on point as to why would a decentralised ecosystem sell its soul to a centralised product?
The price of Ada will definitely increase as a result of USDC integration. Surely the CF, IOG, Charles (and other 🐋) can contribute along with Catalyst funds . A collaboration between all major parties is best option for this to happen with scale, regulatory, security, professionalism.

I would download the Eternl wallet. I won't give you the link as you shouldn't trust comment links but google Eternl wallet extension and you can connect your ledger there. You won't have to make a new wallet, it will be the same there with no sync time.

I think Frederik Gregard made a good point. If Circle can't give a cost breakdown, and transaction activity on other blockchains that paid up for USDC didn't increase, then what would Cardano be getting for $10 million? Count me in with the skeptics.

USDC makes sense. Charles need not get involved. Besides, Charles requires too much time dealing with the FUD, time that could be spent on more important things Cardano. ^_^
They need Cardano to change the code so that native assets can be frozen. Cardano refused to implement this for native assets because it's against the ideas on which ADA was developed.. I would rather have ADA be un-confiscatable than have USDC. USDM will be here in 2 months
USDC would be a huge win for Cardano. It's pretty crazy there isn't a reliable stablecoin on Cardano yet.

I can't really see what all the fuss is about. If I want USDC I'd just move my ADA to Coinbase or similar, convert to USDC and move back to a hardware wallet. Is that too difficult?

Wondering why Circle's asking for a whopping 8-figure sum to integrate USDC with Cardano. Could it be because Cardano's a bit different from other blockchains? Seems Cardano's native tokens aren't naturally set up for complex smart contract functions, like the freeze and clawback features we see with ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. Plus, there might be extra costs in the Cardano ecosystem, like tweaking existing wallets to work with USDC.

not sure what is the point about bringing USDC to Cardano considering it would mean a very expensive transaction for moving USDC around. At least as compared with Stellar or the likes (Eth transactions would be even more expensive than cardano) It would get even worse if cardano price goes up.

Hello, I bought ADA @ 0.24 . my lowest buy on that token .
I would prefer a cordano nativ USDC equivalent. Lets use the full 10M for calatoral
$10,000,000 is worth it. But not at the bear lows now. Maybe in about a year when Ada is at a new ATH. That way we use a smaller % of the total catalyst funds.

I would vote yes also but I don’t agree that we need it. USDC does not add any utility; it is just a name brand stable coin. Circle should add it because it is just good business to participate in the Cardano ecosystem.
If the plan is to use catalyst funds the proposal needs a rider... I cant support a this kind of spend for a non-native project without providing liquidty towards USDM, USDA, iUSD, DJED or USDT. Circle gets $20 million while native projects struggle with liquidity. I think it sets a bad precedent that really undermines the whole ethos of the Cardano project.
Im not against bringing USDC onboard... Im just not sure about where the funds are coming from and the message it sends to native projects.
