Lore accurate Leon moves like the original RE4. Remake Leon is far too nerfed, in both personality and overall ability. The man is supposed to be James Bond/Ninja Assassin level at this point in his life, with all the acrobatics, dexterity, reflexes and martial arts prowess that comes with. Leon in the remake is more like Leon's student or little brother tbh

a lot of mercenaries gameplay start by running around like a chicken collecting timers , and they get mediocre scores , i always started fighting and in between collected timers and i usually get 1.7 to 1.8M

I love how the parry mechanic allows you to be aggressive without fear of receiving chip damage from trash mobs. Man, this game is so fun.

Wow man, feels nostalgic. I remember being able to make consecutive headshots back in the day when OG RE4 was released on PS2, even with a dualshock controller. Spent days after days to unlock the Hand Cannon.

Yes but sometimes, crossbows and dynamites do hit. Rotation is the key. This provides funneling of enemies and then you can take them out easily
Leon instakilling with the regular kick is every classic RE4 player's dream. At this point it's just regular RE6's mercenaries.

I got S+ on Hardcore last night. I saved at almost every typewriter though lol. I dont know how I'm gonna S+ Profesional though... Ashley's armor will help... I will say this has to be the hardest RE to max rank yet!
Oh yah it was my first Hardcore run and I finished with 5 hours 28 minutes LOL. Thank goodness i just decided to use the rocket launcher on Sadler!
Haven't tried Mercenary mode yet. Going for all the main game stuff first!
If you get an S rank on every mercenary stage which is pretty easy you unlock the handcannon which is a powerful magnum which can be upgraded to have infinite ammo. It made my pro S+ run a lot easier so I highly recommend it.
You can unlock typewriter and use ashley armour. Focus on getting the contracts done and upgrade the typewriter to infinite ammo. After village the game gets easier. For krauser and saddler use rocket launcher. And for cannon ball fight. Use heavy grenades to blast the wall. Thats how I completed professional.
Bro, the only mistake you made on that run was not killing the chicken. 🤣👏👏

Not gonna lie RE4R has been my favorite game on steam sense I bought it. I have all the achievements and closing in on 200 hours played. Capcom nocked it out of the planet with this masterpiece of a game.

Because it sounds to me like you didn’t want a remake of RE4 You wanted a remaster with nothing changed except the movement controls and graphics. I mean that’s fine but you have to acknowledge that there’s RE fans, such as myself, who despise tank controls. I for one played the original and thought the QTE’s and movement controls brought it down a hole tier.
I didn't want the movement controls changed. The original RE4 was balanced around them. There's nothing wrong with tank controls. You probably didn't even know you can quick turn by aiming the camera left and right. Zoomers are just ignorant. Tank controls weren't a limitation of the time, they were a deliberate design choice.
The gameplay formula of RE4 was so successful that for RE5 they expanded the melee combat and added co-op, but didn't change the core gameplay. To this day it's still the highest selling RE game to date even amidst the "revival" the series has seen post RE7.
Remake Leon's movement is jank af and the combat is horribly balanced on Hardcore and especially Professional. The game has 2 remake's movement in an action game like RE4. It doesn't work at all. Also random weapon spread and inconsistent staggers don't work with the pacing of the game either. It should never take 5+ shots to stagger an enemy for a kick. @@markgaumee

You say the combat for Hardcore/Professional is poorly balanced but how would you improve it then? Not to mention its meant to be a challenge so if you don't like it you don't have to play it.

It sucks that to get a higher score you need to get so many sniper headshots on bonus points and knife kills, really diminishes the skill you need for pistol and knife

I'd say not exactly
Let's say you want to target 2.5M
It takes MORE than just knife kills and sniper headshots
There're 3 things to considered:
1. What happens IF you DO run out of sniper ammo, that's the real test of your situational awareness, i usually can flashbang, pistol headshots enemy in replacement to save sniper ammo, etc.
2. No the 2.5M score now requires you to NOT kill as much and parry with your best ability to build up that mayhem mode bar then triggers it for the kills to gain points
3. Recent update SEVERELY reduce knife drops to 1-5%, which means ... parrying and knifing but make sure to pay attention to the durability and what you have, some of my runs died because i ran out of knives.
But if you say it remove skills ? no it still requires you to have good aim to headshot, a very good understanding of enemy behavior and how to parry, spamming Space won't work alot of time, you have to take distance to get a parry in the first place, or better if u want to target 2.7M headshots + penetration bonuses and restrains yourself while master thyself to use as much mayhem mode as possible to ensure a victory score :D
@chromatrescu rng is also a factor to ensure you actually get good drops like rifle ammo I suppose if you don't take much damage the game won't give you an herbs. Since I do know the more times you get hit the lower your hidden combat level goes.
U can get a higher score without making excuses and still make it fun to watch/play it just takes a lot of skill. I pride myself in mercenaries since I played a lot of it and do everything to make skilful but also entertaining video: czcams.com/video/RDG6PVF6bqY/video.html
