Who would YOU cast in a new Hellboy??
are you gonna watch part2 the golden army its even better
Oh god, that is a tough question. I am unsure who but it’ll have to be like someone who auditions for Logan but has a more Hellboy-ish vibe. Because there is similarity in the two characters but Hellboy is like a blend of Logan and Deadpool rough exterior but funny.
Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro are still kind of hoping to do a Hellboy III and make a complete trilogy. They weren't able to earlier because Hellboy II came out only a couple of weeks before Batman Begins and lost a lot of viewers to it. The Hellboy reboot attempted was apparently a colossal failure.
John cena
I wouldn’t 😳
Hey, guys. I was the co-writer, along with the director, on this movie. Thanks for the kind words on this film. I had a blast watching you watch it!
That's amazing! Thank you for you hard work on this masterpiece!
Wow it's the man himself! A true legend mate, it's an absolute shame your treatment for Alien vs Predator didn't get made. I'd love to be lucky enough to read a script or draft of it someday! I heard it was an excellent one, and based upon this adaptation, I can confidently say your version of AvP would have been far better than what we ended up getting in 2004 lol
@@KrazzeeKane Thank-you. That's very kind. Various transcribed copies (some missing pages!) of the first "Alien vs Predator" draft I wrote are online, although not the second draft. People seemed to like it - but it is 32 years old, now! Many people seemed to have wished we'd got that version. Oh, well. It is what it is!
God bless you..currently 35 so easily a 2+ decade fan so THANK YOU
My guy, this movie defined my childhood! I cannot express how much I loved it!
took four hours every day to put all the makeup & props on Ron Perlman. he did it without complaining for two whole movies and again years later for a kid in the "Make A Wish" Foundation.
Dang!!!! Good for him!!
Selma Blair (Liz) was a rising star when this movie came out. She was in many successful romcoms but unfortunately had to quit acting when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). She has trouble walking and speaking. Despite that, she is an activist for people suffering from MS, a terrible illness.
Thank you, Selma! You’re very loved and your work is still appreciated today!
In the comics he's an even bigger sweetheart- just endlessly patient and loving.
Instead of cats, he adopts everyone around him.
I love that so much
Doug Jones, who plays Abe Sapian, is someone you should have an eye on while going through these Guillermo del Toro films. He does amazing physical and prosthetic acting, and stars in Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape Of Water, and Hellboy 2, where he has no less than 3 roles!
I met him once at a Sci fi convention, he had a panel all about his career starting with miming.....he was so sweet, you just had to go up to him and he'd give a big bear hug and take pictures with you no charge.
Uploaded picture in honor
Ice cream man in Legion
Love the Doug Jones love 💕
He also plays Cochise the Volm on "Falling Skies" and physically wore the Silver Surfer suit in "Fantastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer" which Laurence Fishburne(Morpheus from the original "Matrix" trilogy and "Matrix Online")voiced.
Ron Pearlman is perfection as Hellboy. He’s a great actor, and he’s great in this role. Love this version of HB.
Yeeeeeees!😀
I like how HB is more of a local hero type like DD. Even though he's fighting super beings it still feels grounded in the local area. Instead of the super team up type film for Avengers.
Good point, almost like a fantastical more experienced/been there done that Ghostbuster. For lack of a better example, I mean paranormal is in the name.
Which is ironic considering that all 4 of his movies (Guillermo del Toro 2 and the 2 animated ones) are all globe-trotting
Yet even with that they feel grounded and local stories
Good choice for the movie! Hellboy 2 is worth the watch. Avoid the recent reboot.
Yeah, I think Hellboy 2 is a great companion to this film. I never saw the remake, but I did see about 3-4 minutes of a fighting scene & it made me very sad. I was actually sad for a couple hours after I watched it, so I can’t see myself ever seeing it, unless it was to save the world or something. In a situation like that, I’d happily make the sacrifice for all of you.
Edit: I appreciate all the wonderful sentiments, but I’m really not anyone special. I’m sure you’d all do the same thing if put in such a terrifying position, so there’s really no need to thank me, everyone. It’s my pleasure. You’re more than welcome👍
The reboot was straight gore-porn
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 2019 is an Hollywood mess.
Hellboy 2004 is an awesome comic book film, and I really love the mix between Gothic and HP Lovecraft. As a person who has read the comics, it is ‘good’ but not accurate representation of the comics. The comics are in a entire league of their own, and is honestly one of the best things I’ve read. It is up there with Berserk. Nonetheless the 2004 film is better than the 2019 movie, and Ron Perlman was born to play Hellboy, just his voice alone is so Hellboy. Look forward to Hellboy 2 The Golden Army reaction.
Edit: I recommend reading the Hellboy comic. It is worth the time and investment.
YES!!! IT'S VERY LOVECRAFTIAN!!
hellboy creator mike mignola worked on this movie, and from what i gathered mikes input was to make this film how he envisioned it, so if anything this is accurate enough since its the creators input that shaped the film
@@bigfrankfraser1391 Eh, it can still be accurate to his vision of a movie adaptation while not being accurate to the comic. It's great, in any case.
@@KaregoAt yeah, its like how the one piece live action strays from the original anime and manga, but oda himself was heavily involved, like the perlman hellboy films, it means the creator iss adapting there own creation to fit the medium
@@bigfrankfraser1391 Sorry to say but Oda was not "heavily involved", and he literally said he disagreed on many points and changes to the plot that happened without his approval, the show runners themselves talked about it. The LA One Piece is fine, but not great, and I'm pretty baffled it got such a positive reception when it messed with the characterization and important story beats and pretty much shot itself in the foot when it comes to any longevity in relation to the actual original plot. I guess people bought the marketing (which was done pretty smartly) and fell in love with the actors and people making it and looked at the actual product through rose colored glasses.
I can't wait to see the reaction to Hellboy 2: The Golden Army as that movie is a freaking masterpiece and I will die on this hill.
Yeah it’s up on Patreon now
Hellboy comes from Dark Horse Comics, which are very much known to take comics to a darker place like Hellboy, Sin City, Umbrella Academy, 300, The Mask, and more. They're also responsible for many comic-told continuations of famous franchises such as Star Wars, Alien, Avatar the Last Airbender, Terminator, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Critical Role, and beyond.
Oh nice!!! Yeah I like a lot of their content
This movie always reminded me of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" in certain respects. It's also based on a comic book (graphic novel) series. Wonderful merging of practical effects and CGI. I highly recommend it; it brings together a number of characters from various historical authors contemporary to the Victorian steampunk setting. I think it's Rasputin and the mechanical Kroenen that seems to have come through that steampunk period to modern day that is the link between the two films; they share a sensibility.
Yeah man the Hellboy and BPRD books are some of the best graphics being written.
If you're a fan you should definitely read Sword of Hyperborea
yes, please. We NEED these guys reacting to "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". I really loved the movie, but a lot of people didn't quite like the effects. I'd like to see what these two have to say about it
League of Extraordinary Gentleman is really good, but sadly not many people know of it, sighs
"The League" is interesting also as the film that made Sean Connery quit acting 😅
I'd like to see a reaction to that film if they've not seen it yet
I’ll always have a soft spot for Ron Perlman, ever since I was 13 & saw Quest for Fire, which is a bomb-ass movie, in need of some reactions.
Anyway, I’ve loved the guy ever since..
Quest For Fire is beyond interesting. My dad had me watch it as a teen. I still remember how intriguing the story is and hope they take your suggestion.
Quest for Fire is the most under-rated movie ever made. Other good Ron Perlman films are Cronos (the first del Toro-Perlman movie) and The City of Lost Children. Love him as Hellboy but, imo, his earliest performances were his best.
Hellboy, Spawn, Watchmen and The League of Extraordinary Gentleman are all must watch superheroes movies! Great reaction! I truly love this movie and the comics as well. Go for the sequel! The effects made a huge jump even thou those were perfectly done for the 2000's
We have done watchmen!!!
Spawn! Thanks for reminding me. It has been so long ago since I watched that one. I remember really loving it. So I will go watch it again! :D
YES! I love the League!!!!! ❤️
Nice. This is what happens when you take a beloved indie comic book and fight hard to keep the studio from interfering. This one is amazingly good. The sequel is decent as well.
Decent? It’s really good.
Meyers is lucky. With his strength Hellboy could have put that rock through his skull.
🤣 never thought of that, but true.
The Spear of Destiny is also in Constantine, starring Keanu
I love that one
And the cast reprised their roles for the 2 animated Hellboy movies - Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood and Iron.
White Noise, in sync: "ohhh shoooot!"
Serotonin: *unlocked*
😂😂👍👍
I love the first and second movie so much and I'm still forever sad that Del Toro didn't get to close out the trilogy like he wanted to. These movies got me into the comics and made me into a life long fan of Del Toro and Ron Pearlman
You should also checkout (after "Hellboy 2"), the hellboy animated movies. They got most of the original cast for the voices, and are really good.
I loved the 1987 TV series 'Beauty & the Beast' with Ron Perlman & Linda Hamilton ❤️
@megdelaney3677: Yes! Brilliant, although unfortunately short lived ( 3 seasons - 1987 - 1990 ) series.
Great reaction! This movie was actually shot in my country Czech republic and the villain is played by Czech actor Karel Roden
When this came out I went to see it in the theater and I absolutely loved it. Ron Perlman was superb.
Another great early 2000s Comic Book film is "The Punisher" with Thomas Jane and John Travolta. Awesome reaction glad y'all enjoyed it.
Fukyeah! Great movie
Hellboy is and will always be my favorite superhero movie. I'm glad that you enjoyed it as much as I did.
The comics have such a cool visual style, if you haven't read them you should definitely check them out
Awesome reaction guys! You’re totally right that it feel different to other comic book movies. I absolutely love the style and characters!
Cant wait to see your reaction to the sequel!!
It’s such a blast, up on Patreon now
The best comic book movie is the 2005 Sin City ! Please do it,only a few have and they all loved it. I promise you its style will blow you away !
Grew up watching Hellboy and it’s amazing 👏🏻❤️ the second one is great too 👌🏻 and I adore him and Liz together
So much better than the god awful 2019 reboot that should have been left alone.
It wasn’t god awful but it shouldn’t have been made.
@@dylanleff373 your right it wasn't God awful it was utter shit.
@@KonohazFinest i disagree, but hey opinions
Wow I disagree, I love that movie. They gotta react to it.
There was a reboot?
This movie is so freaking COOL even to this day 😍
Glad you guys did this one. I haven’t watched it in years and forgot how much I like it. No one else could have played Hellboy. Also excited that you have Blade coming up.
Hellboy 2 next PLEASE!!! I love both of these movies. The villain in the next one is simply fantastic…I can’t hate him because I love him, much like my feelings for Loki of MCU (tho they are nothing alike in character).
Up on Patreon now!!!
@@whitenoisereacts 🤗 Can’t wait!
The word you're looking for in describing this, I think it's "Lovecraftian". I think it's a great movie and a tribute to H.P Lovecraft.
Yes!!! For sure!!
"There are things that go bump in the night, Agent Myers. Make no mistake about that. And we are the ones who BUMP BACK."
- Professor Trevor Broom
Pan's Labyrinth is my fav del Toro film and one of my favorite films. The Shape of Water really surprised me too.
Great reaction. Along with Hellboy 2 there are two cartoon movies with Ron P. Voicing Hellboy really good stories.
2nd one was a blast as well.
This movie reminds me a lot of the early 2000's Wolfenstein reboot now that I think about it, epsecially since both are centered around fighting the nazis and their interdimensional space magic with the Thule Society.
Yes!!
hellboy was my childhood!!! i love that youre reacting to it!!
The Professor is John Hurt, Elephant Man, Kane from Alien, and Mr Olivander from Harry Potter.
You can't go wrong with Del Toro
Kinda obsessive with this film. To the point that I had a red iPod back in the day inscribed: ''If Lost Please Return To The B.P.R.D.''. Then got Hellboy's creator Mike Mignola to autograph it. He was super cool.
Omg, if you like the movie read the comics. The art is amazing and there is much more goth, history and mythology.
Loved your reaction :)
YES LADS !! I have such a love for this series of G Del Toro movies and all the books ahhhhhhhh 😆 I want this director to direct the new reboot of “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman” you should check that movie out it’s a similar property
There are also two animated Hellboy movies. They had pretty much all the voice actors from Hellboy and Hellboy ii.
They are 'Sword of Storms' and 'Blood and Iron'. They were never in theaters but straight to DVD.
Hi, thank you for your react to this movie. it's a matter of my heart, because they cast my favorite actor Karel Roden in the role of Rasputin. He's one of our best actors. And Ron Perlman Is perfect Hellboy.
This comic book movie covered way more topics than others. 1) What you do matters, not your origins, heritage, or physical characteristics (even the devil). 2) Seeing past the physical in regards to love. 3) Prejudices and how finding common ground is the best way to dissolve them (even simply cigar preferences). 4) Paternal love. There are probably a bunch more, but just these go a lot deeper than most comic book movies.
I actually heard somewhere, some theory I think, that Hitler didn't died in 1945. I think that scene was real
It’s a conspiracy theory, but it’s not true. He killed himself in ‘45 along with his lover.
Second one is even better!!! One of my fave fantasy movie ever
I love this movie and the sequel
'You gotta love these classic movies'
That makes me feel old, real old... to me a Classic is something like the 71 Willy Wonker, or Its a Wonderful Life...
This was one of the first films I ever saw in a cinema so it has a special place in my heart haha. Being 11ish and the first time watching a film on such a massive screen was mind blowing!
Thank you boys, I love this movie 💗
you should watch Constantine too
Hellboy deals with a lot of Lovecraftian horror ideas, that means some horrific, Cthulhu style, nebulous creatures with tentacles from deep space.
This is one of the movies were I feel awful when an agent dies, they’re Red’s friends 😔
DIRECTOR DEL TORO KEEPS ALL PROPS FROM HIS FILMS...WENT TO EXHIBIT OF HIS COLLECTION IN L.A. WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!! HE HAS A HOUSE IN LA TO HOLD JUST HIS COLECTIONS OF PROPS AND COSTUMES, AND FREAKY STUFF!!!!!👍👍🤓🤓👍
FYI, Guillermo Del Toro also directed Blade 2 which also features Ron Pearlman (Hellboy) in it. He's a lot like Tim Burton in that he tends to use a lot of the same actors in his work so you can also see Ron Pearlman in another Del Toro movie, Nightmare Alley.
Btw if you haven't seen it already I would recommend you watch Constantine. It's marketed as a "horror" movie but technically it's also an OG comic book movie. It's really good!
Hellboy II is probably my favourite superhero movie! I hope you enjoy it ❤
Fun fact the actor who plays Hellboy is in blade2: blood hunt partly did the movie to get the Hellboy movie started not sure of all the facts but you will love him in blade as well he's just a great actor and hellboys real name means "nd upon his brow is set a crown of flame" idk i always thought that was cool lol
I think Sam is the brother of Hell Boy because Rasputin did say he was leaving clues for Hell Boy
ooooo I would love to see yall watch more of Guillermo Del Toros movies!
14:46 RED MEANS STOP!!!
Awesome reaction, guys. :)
Hellboy 2 The Golden Army 🤗 is my absolute favorite of the two.
i have been binging your channel, have watched the horror series, the marvel series and some of the animated series, i love you guy's reaction and i feel like im watching the movie with you guys.
Hey guys they have a remake of this one which is HellBoy 2019 I recommend it was really really well done
if you're interested there are actually two animated hellboy films as well! Sword of Storms and Blood and Iron and I believe they're meant to take place before the 2004 film and include some extras characters from the comics (and the actors reprise their roles for the voice acting)
I would highly suggest also watching the animated hellboy movies ("Sword of Storms" and "Blood and Stone") there sort of cannon with the Guillermo del Toro hellboy movies but also sort of not
Hellboy's revolver is like a Warhammer 40K bolt pistol.
omg i haven't watched this in so long! i just remember loving it
React to Van Helsing (2004). If you loved Hellboy, you'll love this movie. It's got such a similar feel to it!
Samael is practical! And the Spear that pierced the side of Christ you should remember from watching Constantine! (No it's not the same prop but it's the same legend/lore/belief)
One of my all time favorites
HOW THE HELL AM I THIS LATE! I was just searching for OG hellboy reaction vids on CZcams like 2 weeks ago... did I mention I have been subscribed to you two for atleast a year and a half? XD
What really??) that’s awesome!!!
Hellboy 2 is my favorite superhero movie of all time.
Tom Hanks' movie ROAD TO PERDITION is another comic book/graphic novel movie worth checking out.
Ohh I’ve yet to watch the video but I was just thinking of this film yesterday and saw this pop up! It’s a childhood favorite so I’m so looking forward to seeing what you all have to say about it!
Guillermo de toro also did the series trollhunters tales of Arcadia which I really enjoyed. It may not be the best but it gave me motivation and ideas for one of my final 3D animation project
I don't think I'll ever be able to separate Pearlman from Sons of Anarchy
looking forward to you both reacting to the 2nd one! I love the 2 Del Toro Hellboy movies, both are really good
I forgot how much I loved this movie. I'm also surprised by how much of the dialogue I remember. I worked in Suncoast in high school and had a 40% employee discount around the time Hellboy made it to DVD and we had a shitload of merch in our store. My friend bought me the 1/4 scale Hellboy for my birthday and I still have a BPRD backpack. In the store, we played a movie all day that would be displayed on a bunch of TVs above the merchandise. I think I saw Hellboy about 45 times by the time we swapped movies, so I have it memorized. I could listen to the soundtrack by itself and still know what action and dialogue would be happening because you could hear it from the back room and sorting DVD shipments is a quiet job. The same goes for Pirates of the Caribbean.
I hyperfixated on Hellboy for a long time. As a fan of the comic already, this movie made me really really really happy. The director's cut was even better.
I love the lore about the 7 gods of chaos (I utterly hate writing their names)
Love this movie. A hidden gem!
You guys should check out the 2 animated hellboy movies
A lot of people dislike these films 2019 understandable but I kinda liked it. I grew up with these movies which seems strange. I just enjoy whatever I watch without pretending to act like a nostalgia critic.
I love em!!!
Great video, as always... Thank you! Have you already checked out Kick Ass? If not I Highly recommend that. Another amazing comic book adaptation ...
Ron Perlman. The One and only Hellboy!
Thanks guys
Subbed. Great channel 🤙👍👌
Can't wait for you guys to watch the second movie.
Also, the 7 gods of chaos are based on elder gods in the cthulhu mythos in H.P. Lovecraft's writings.
Hellboy creater Mike Mignola also worked on Disney's "Atlantis The Lost Empire"
There are two animated films that are connected that are prequels, Blood and Iron and Sword of Storms that I recommend.
It features most of the cast from the live action movies, Ron Pearlman as Hellboy, Hellboy's father, also Abe, voiced by Doug Jones, who played Abe in prosthetic work in the live-action movies but did not provide the voice for the first film (Abe's vocals for that film were done by an uncredited David Hyde Pierce). He did, however, voice the character in the second film. The fire girl also is voiced by her live action actress.
I loved Blood and Iron it's a vampire story.
Oh, oh, oh, my god! That’s my favourite watch Hellboy movie 1 (2004) And Hellboy The Golden Army Two (2008)! 🤩👍🎥🍿Best movie!
"What is it with all these tentacles?".
Clue: The film begins with a quote from Ludvig Prinn's De Vermiis Mysteriiis (Latin for "Mysteries of the Worm" created by Robert Bloch in his short stories in the Cthulhu Mythos Cycle (H. P. Lovecraft created the Mythos). And the book is, like Lovecraft's own Necronomicon of the Mad Arab Abdul Alhazred, August Derleth's Cultes des Ghoules and Clark Ashton Smith's BOOK OF EIBON. a grimoire of the darkest magic and NOT (As Steohen King's narrator in his short story "Jerusalem's Lot" humorously remarks "a simple gardening treatise."
Does your generation never read ANYTHING? Is THAT your problem?
The old man is John Hurt, played Olivander the wand maker in HARRY POTTER.
